[Bug 66015] Re: Duplicate spell checking dictionaries for every entry
Here is the current issue: In the directory /usr/share/myspell/dicts there is the situation that when a language is installed, (for example English [United Kingdom]) the file 'en_GB.dic' is created, but also a symlink to it is created called 'en-GB.dic' The trouble is OpenOffice looks for 'en_GB.dic' and firefox looks for 'en-GB.dic' so we can't just delete either one. The reason firefox adds these duplicate entries is because of these symlinks. I think the trouble is that Firefox is look for the entries with a hyphen between them, which is not the standard naming of these myspell dictionary files so firefox shall have to be patched. -- Duplicate spell checking dictionaries for every entry https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/66015 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

The same problem here too, but no where near minutes. The "[minimal BASH-like..." message, which before the last grub-pc update would only flash by in half a second, now stays up for eleven seconds with constant noises from the hard drive. After the boot menu comes up everything appears to work normally (or perhaps there is a very slight delay for the actual boot to start after I hit enter, but that may just be in my imagination). [Bug 214154] Re: Can't VSYNC properly on ATI (Mobility Radeon HD 2600 XT)
[This is an automatic notification.] A new version of the -ati driver is now available in Karmic. This is a significant update to -ati which brings in kernel mode-setting (currently disabled, unless booting with the radeon.modeset=1 kernel option) and scores of fixes for DRI2, EXA, and more. I've posted the new version of this driver to the following PPA, would you mind testing it and seeing if it resolves this bug? Karmic If you're not running this release of Ubuntu, you can try booting the https://edge.launchpad.net/~bryceharrington/+archive/ppa/+sourcepub/709908/+listing-archive-extra LiveCD and loading the PPA onto it, and then log out/in to restart X. ISOs are available at http://cdimages.ubuntu.com/releases/ After testing Karmic, report back here whether it's still an issue or not, and if it is please post a fresh Xorg.0.log and 'dmesg' output. Note there could be new bugs... please file these as new reports using the command 'ubuntu-bug xorg'. -- Can't VSYNC properly on ATI (Mobility Radeon HD 2600 XT) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/214154 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 420933] [NEW] Current grub-pc takes several minutes to show menu
Public bug reported: With the latest grub-pc update, grub2 takes several minutes to get to the menu. During this time there is almost constant hard drive activity...this did not happen with the last update which would take 5 to 10 seconds at the most. This is with a i7-920/SATA2 system. [Bug 331506] Re: BOINC randomly freezes Ubuntu (Intrepid 64 bit)
Forgot to mention last time that I'm also using nvidia. I compiled and installed the boinc_6.4.5+dfsg-2ubuntu1_amd64 package from the Karmic source repository, and it freezes my machine, too. The last entries recorded in the kernel log before the crash (pasted below) look suspiciously like a loop, but I don't know enough about the kernel to say whether its just normal behavior. Is anyone else seeing this? What about on 32-bit machines? I'm going to continue testing to see if this behavior consistently coincides with the crashes. [Bug 303997] Re: problem with big uids in "Users and Groups" tool
Well, I would recommend checking the facts first. [Bug 420924] [NEW] suspend resume fails in kubuntu
Public bug reported: Description:Ubuntu karmic (development branch) Release:9.10 Starting probably August 26 resume fails on Kubuntu Karmic a4. It still works fine on the same machine when using Openbox instead of KDE, and all the failures seem to relate to kwin, kdm and other kde apps such as konsole. The window manager fails to show the panel, and konsole is buried behind the background. Window decorations disappear. I've been trying to track the issue through ps, various log files and other typical procedures, but I cannot find anything out of order that way when I compare the results to the xubuntu/openbox install. Running the same kernel. Here's a basic lspci output so you can identify the hardware. Re:[Bug 417570] Re: hard disk is really hot
First of all,i will give you a general describtion about my laptop.my laptop is hp540,i am using ubuntu to control my entire laptop, usually the tempera-ture of the hard drive is 46~52 celsius. And when i was using windows xp,it was always less than 40 celsius. The fact is,as you know, this is summer,so when i use ubuntu these days,my laptop is really hot,if i use many applications, such as toterm or screen-saver or openoffice, the temperature is very high,as i said 52 calsius.when i do nothing, the temperature will be 45~46 celsius. And in winxp,it is less than 40 celsius, even when i am using many applications. The detailed information about my laptop is presented in the "submissio-n.xml",you can open it with firefox. In order to give you detailed information about my laptop hd temperetu-re,i managed to record the temperatuer of my wdc every 5 minutes from 090828 23:00 to 090829 12:00,i also took some screenshots. I am sorry that i can not give you more detailed information about my hd temperature in windows xp,because i am using ubuntu to control my laptop entirely.Although i can change my laptop into a "windows xp + ubuntu" double os,but i am too lazy to do that. But i can promise you that when i was using windows xp,the hd temperature was always less than 40 celsius. Is it just because that i don't know how to configure my hardware? Can you tell me how to cool my hd down? By the way,i find that almost all linux operating systems have the same problem.Including debian, ubuntu, arch, puppy.I don't know why.But it is really important to our computers, isn't it? [Bug 418379] Re: Firefox url loading on middle-click is broken on Jaunty
You right ! For some reason, the default must have been changed. Doing what you said did restore the normal behaviour, but it was impossible to guess - and because this feature is very hard to voluntary need, even "new" users of Firefox would never think of enabling it. I think this is a major regression. Hopefully this was a non-LTS release. I hope it is fixed for the next LTS release, as breaking things which worked is absolutely disastrous from the customer point of view (even more than things which never worked). Thanks for the tips, still. Maybe this should be added to the Jaunty release notes errata or something ! ** Changed in: firefox-3.0 (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Confirmed -- Firefox url loading on middle-click is broken on Jaunty https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/418379 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 420918] [NEW] please update libcapi
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: isdnutils Unfortunately, activity in ISDN related packages is slow to put it mildly. Debian upstream seems to be missing for about three years now. I'd like to suggest to replace the capi20 directory in the source code with the new work done by Jan-Michael Brummer. He modularized the code and added a few features. The code is backward compatible and necessary for new applications like ffgtk. Code development is supported by the AVM company, a reputable German hardware manufacturer very active behind ISDN related code development in Linux. https://www.isdn4linux.de/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/isdn4k-utils/capi20.new/ The isdn4utils project has already accepted the code, the old capi20 code is stale. The code has also been shipping in OpenSuse for a few months. Jan-Michael tells me there very few errors reported and they were all minor, related to compilation issues. I've made a package in my PPA which can serve as a test ground. It demonstrates the changes I am requesting here. Let us know if there are any questions or things that need consideration and discussion. We're also pushing for a new upstream release, but given the slow nature of development it's not clear when that can actually happen. ** Affects: isdnutils (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: karmic -- please update libcapi https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/420918 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
