Re: [Bug 379393] Re: add checkbox submission reference
On 03.09.2009 20:09, Martin Pitt wrote: Sorry, it just occurred to me that in the general case we can't link the hwdb submission key, we can just add the key value to the description field. This is because Apport's job ends with opening a browser window to file a bug, and never gets back the ID. So either developers need to grab the key and fetch the corresponding hwdb object manually, or LP needs to be extended to accept a checkbox submission key in the +storeblob area (in the MIME headers, similar to the Private:, Subscribers:, and Tags: fields). The latter would obviously be preferrable, but needs further changes in LP. Abel, what do you think? For now I'll just add the reference key to the description. I think adding a header like HWDB-Submission: submission-key is fine. (Actually, a user might have run checkbox more than once on a machine, so we should also allow HWDB-Submission: submission-key, submission-key... ) I opened bug 424382 for the Launchpad side. Ah, and adding the actual key is already done by /usr/share/apport /general-hooks/checkbox.py, so there's nothing to do in Apport right now. I'll reopen this if/when LP extends the +storeblob API accordingly. Not sure what this means. Do we already have they submission keys somewhere in the data sent by Apport to +storeblob? -- add checkbox submission reference https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/379393 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 294259] Re: XFS internal error xfs_trans_cancel at line 1164 of file /build/buildd/linux-2.6.27/fs/xfs/xfs_trans.c
Leann, please look at the report. Comment #7 written on 2009-06-03 clearly indentifies the problem and has a link explaining details. This bug is not reproducable. I got it on a high-usage-server after more than one year of usage and on a another box which isn't used heavily after few month. Another box which was used by a customer crashed after two weeks and we had a very hard time to recover the data. It happens whenever the XFS free blocks table gets a corruption. If you're lucky, the corruption isn't written to disk before the server crashes. Otherwise, the crash occurs every time the system requests free blocks and jumps into the corrupted area. (I'm neither a kernel not a xfs guy, so please don't slap me if this is not 100% correct.) This is clearly not no-one-would-like-to-test-it-so-we-ignore-and- close-it - bug, it's a really critical thing, but it has been finally resolved month ago. It should be easy to finally solve this issue on Ubuntu, too. All of us are currently lucky as long as you either get a power-outage or crash and ext3 recovers your filesystem bei killing all files or you're crash-safe but may run into the xfs-bug at any time. [Bug 424396] [NEW] npviewer.bin hogs cpu
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nspluginwrapper I am running jaunty 64bit on Intel Core 2 Duo. I have some troubles with firefox and flash. After some time (but always sooner or later) npviewer.bin starts hogging the full cpu-power of one of the two cores, even if there is nothing to do (only a simple flash-ad) and he still does so, even when I close all tabs with flash. From time to time the whole flash seems to crash. Then I only see rectangles, where the flash-ads (or -app) used to be. I did some resarch, but couldn't find any hint, that there are a lot of people, with the same problem. 1.) I found this old post: http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-647961.html , which describes exactly the same problem, that I am experiencing. But there is no newer information on that topic. 2.) I found this old bugreport: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nspluginwrapper/+bug/177856 , which describes the crashing-part of my problems. But it is closed and marked as fixed. 3.) I found this new bugreport: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nspluginwrapper/+bug/307535 , but I think, that it describes another problem: there are only troubles with a specific flash-page and firefox freezes than. But in my case, sooner or later npviewer.bin always starts hogging my cpu and firefox is still working - though, from time to time firefox get's very slow (and is greyed out by the windowmanager, becaus it isn't responding anymore), although there seems not a lot of work to do for him. [Bug 424368] [NEW] [FFE] local node discovery, debconf improvements
Public bug reported: The Eucalyptus installer work for Karmic is not quite complete. In particular, it's missing the following pieces: * 'euca_conf --discover-nodes', an extension to discover Eucalyptus nodes on the local network and offer them for addition to the cluster. The backend support for this (Avahi advertisements of nodes) is already in place; we just need to write the script changes. * The Eucalyptus cluster controller almost certainly needs a couple more debconf questions to make sure it's set up correctly out of the box. (I don't know the details and am relying on the server team to let me know what else needs to be asked.) I think both of these are very non-invasive: --discover-nodes will only be used if you ask for it, and the debconf questions will only be asked at initial installation time. Steve suggested I file a feature freeze exception request anyway, though. ** Affects: eucalyptus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- [FFE] local node discovery, debconf improvements https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/424368 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 424371] [NEW] Logins to OpenSSH server slow due to UseDNS yes config
Public bug reported: When logging in to my Ubuntu 8.04 Server edition server via SSH (client PuTTY), logins take exactly 20 seconds from the time the username is entered and the time the password request appears. The problem is caused by the UseDNS yes config parameter. When it is changed to UseDNS no, the server logs in instantly. The cause of the problem is that the server is in a network that does not have a DHCP server to store client hostnames, and thus, when requesting the hostname, it waits for the request to timeout. When the same server is put on a network with a DHCP server, the logins are instantaneous as well. Another workaround is to put the client's hostname and IP address in /etc/hosts. This bug has similar symptoms to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openssh/+bug/84899 , but in my case, disabling GSSAPIAuthentication does not resolve the issue. I would disable UseDNS permanently, but I am skiddish because it sounds like a security feature. Unfortunately, it seems worthless; when I put the client's hostname and the WRONG IP address in /etc/hosts, the connection still is successful (after a 20 second delay). That poses the question: what is the point of UseDNS? In bug 84899, someone suggests changing /etc/nsswitch.conf, but my configuration was already like the recommended fix. All config files are at their defaults. To Reproduce: Install Ubuntu Server 8.04 `apt-get install openssh-server` Put machine on non-DHCP network Connect to machine's IP `lsb_release -rd` Description: Ubuntu 8.04.3 LTS Release: 8.04 `apt-cache policy openssh-server1 Installed: 1:4.7p1-8ubuntu1.2 ** Affects: openssh (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: openssh opensshserver server ssh usedns -- Logins to OpenSSH server slow due to UseDNS yes config https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/424371 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
