If kqemu support is disabled in karmic, why are the kqemu-source and kqemu-common packages available in the karmic repositories ? [Bug 363620] Re: Apparmor breaks Squeezecenter when upgrading from 8.10 to 9.04
Squeezecenter is not a part of Ubuntu. It changes the configuration of Ubuntu in a way that breaks Ubuntu policy. We're happy to work with squeezecenter on a better solution, but as it stands, Ubuntu is doing exactly what is is supposed to do. As such, I'm marking this bug invalid. If you want to help fix this, provide some more informaion about the changes it makes to the mysql profile, and - if you can - explain why those changes are needed.. That's the only way we can begin to look at how this can be fixed properly (perhaps by Ubuntu, perhaps by Squeezecenter). Re: [Bug 460581] Re: [Karmic] host lookup error
Do you maybe have any further suggestions for how to debug this? Something must be interfering with those lookups. The effect is new in Karmic, so would be nice to figure out what it is. What is the difference between the first lookup that 'host' does and the second? It seems that something is blocking the corresponding network traffic. II have no firewall, so that can't be it. I looked at various log-files in /var/log, but the only suspicious thing I see are a lot of messages from wpa_supplicant. Is there something I can do to verify whether this is related? My network is wireless with simple WEP-authentication, so maybe wpa_supplicant is not needed? If so, why has it been started? Best regards, Marco. Neil, we are talking about 384 cores seen by the sum of all OSes (64 per node OS). No special trick to overprovisione the nodes. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: samba When copying a directory with a good amount of files ( 1,000) to a Samba share from a Windows 7 client, I get the error Too many files are currently in use.. [Bug 461156] Re: User data is not base64 decoded before being presented to the instance
I'm also unable to reproduce Markus's problems with --user-data ' FOO ' and a patched euca2ools. I've built a ppa build of euca2ools with the patch at https://launchpad.net/~smoser/+archive/ppa . I tested that the patch works against ec2 with user data of FOO , and that it fails against eucalyptus as Markus said. The issue is that boto (used by euca2ools) is encoding the supplied user-data in connection.py:run_instances with: | base64.urlsafe_b64encode(user_data) For many input strings it is true that: base64.b64decode(base64.urlsafe_b64encode(str)) == str For ' FOO ' it is not. It will throw an error. My guess is that eucalyptus is taking the request from euca2ools and doing a b64decode rather than urlsafe_b64decode on it. This is throwing error and being returned to the user as a parse error. Thus, I'm fairly sure that eucalyptus will have to be changed to expect user_data to be encoded via urlsafe_b64decode() rather than b64decode(). urlsafe_b64encode is explained at http://docs.python.org/library/base64.html as: | Encode string s using a URL-safe alphabet, which substitutes - instead of + | and _ instead of / in the standard Base64 alphabet. The result can still contain =. [Bug 461156] Re: User data is not base64 decoded before being presented to the instance
Yep, I confirm that it is a bug against eucalyptus (not euca2ools). I was using an older version of euca2ools that did double encoding of the user data. thanks. ** Changed in: eucalyptus Status: Invalid = Confirmed ** Changed in: eucalyptus Importance: Undecided = High ** Summary changed: - User data is not base64 decoded before being presented to the instance + User data is not parsed correctly by Eucalyptus in some cases -- User data is not parsed correctly by Eucalyptus in some cases https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/461156 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to eucalyptus in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 458904] Re: Adding nodes in several waves after launching VMs is not possible
After more investigation it turns out that the problem lies with the avahi resolver. Whenever a new public IP address (for an instance) is added to the CC, avahi-daemon will publish it automatically. Subsequent installs will use one of the publish IP by avahi daemon (which turns out to be the last IP added to the public network interface). euca_find_cluser uses avahi dns resolution to get the CC IP address to get the seed from and will only use the published IP by the CC avahi publication job if the resolution leads to 169.254.169.254. The proposed workaround is to always use the IP publish by the CC publication job. ** Branch linked: lp:~mathiaz/eucalyptus/k-find-cluster-multi-ip-fix -- Adding nodes in several waves after launching VMs is not possible https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/458904 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to eucalyptus in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 462140] Re: maximum 61 running instances, others shutting down
hello The conf is in the attached tar file, but i changed the value from 32 (default) to 512 from the beginning of the install (i ran into this VNET_ADDRPERNET problem yesterday). 64 was never entered. I've just rebooted the entire cluster and ran more tests. I can have more than 61 instances running, but some are shutting down. I am lauching with --addressing private to avoid public IPs limitations (just in case). So 61 does not seem to be a definitive threshold, and the problem does not seem to be VNET_ADDRPERNET related. Will run more tests tomorrow morning CET. thanks paul -- maximum 61 running instances, others shutting down https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/462140 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to eucalyptus in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

Re: [Bug 426497] Re: kqemu mode not compiled for karmic
/usr/bin/qemu: invalid option -- '-domid' That's odd, as qemu doesn't have a feature domid. Even the unavailable options are listed with qemu -help. Are you sure to use the newly compiled qemu? which qemu will tell you. Which sources are you using? I'm using the plain sources from www.qemu.org. By default, they install into /usr/local and the resulting binary lives in peace along with the one from the Ubuntu package. -- kqemu mode not compiled for karmic https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/426497 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to qemu-kvm in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 458904] Re: Adding nodes in several waves after launching VMs is not possible
I can confirm that the proposed branch fixes the issue: 1. Make a local build and extract euca_find_cluster from the eucalyptus udeb. 2. Copy euca_find_cluster to http://people.canonical.com/~mathiaz/euca_find_cluster 3. Start a few instances on the UEC install and make sure that the public IPs are configured: ubu...@uec-cc:~$ ip addr show eth0 2: eth0: BROADCAST,MULTICAST,UP,LOWER_UP mtu 1500 qdisc pfifo_fast state UP qlen 1000 link/ether 00:1c:c4:6b:38:4a brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff inet 10.153.108.210/24 brd 10.153.108.255 scope global eth0 inet 192.168.222.11/32 scope global eth0:pub inet 192.168.222.15/32 scope global eth0:pub inet 192.168.222.17/32 scope global eth0:pub inet6 fe80::21c:c4ff:fe6b:384a/64 scope link valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever 4. Boot a karmic server install and select Install Ubuntu Enterprise Cloud. 5. Once the network is up and the installer is prompting for the hostname open a new shell. 6. Dowload the new euca_find_cluster. 7. Verify that the normal euca_find_cluster returns 192.168.222.17 as the IP address of the CC. 8. Verify that the new euca_find_cluster returns 10.153.108.210 as the IP address of the CC. 9. Copy the new euca_find_cluster to /usr/bin/ 10. Proceed with the installation which is successful. -- Adding nodes in several waves after launching VMs is not possible https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/458904 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to eucalyptus in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
