[Bug 211631] Re: Network is brought down before network filesystems are unmounted (CIFS timeout at shutdown)
Confirmed here too. I've tried all the solutions listed previously to resolve this issue in Karmic and Wireless, but I always experience a hang on shutdown. The only workaround (not really) I've found so far is to add the users option to my /etc/fstab entry for my cifs share, then manually unmount the volume before shutting down / restarting the laptop. Although the umountcifs script still works when run manually, I've tried linking to just about every position in /etc/rc0.d (and /etc/rc6.d) with no success. A linked thread here also suggests putting umountcifs in /etc/gdm/Postsession/default - all that seems to do is break the exit usplash (or whatever that's called now - the ubunut logo thing that fades away) - but the hang persists. Is there perhaps some kind of upstart configuration that needs to be modfied in Karmic to emulate the K0umountcifs behaviour? -- Network is brought down before network filesystems are unmounted (CIFS timeout at shutdown) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/211631 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 446146] Re: Huawei E169 USB dongle not working with kernel 2.6.31-12.40
Well... there would be a way to fix all those regressions for release until a proper fix is found upstream which would be to revert the patch that went in 2.6.31.2 that caused them all. The result would be to go back to 2.6.31.1 state with the modem working but the storage side of the device not working, which isn't a big deal, since it's bugs in the USB storage implementation of the devices that seem to be causing this. [Bug 461156] Re: User data is not parsed correctly by Eucalyptus in some cases
** Description changed: User data supplied using euca-run-instances --user-data-file is not decoded before being presented to the instance. Inside the instance, curl http://169.254.169.254/latest/user-data; should fetch the decoded user data, whereas eucalyptus will return a base64 and url encoded string. Re: [Bug 305301] Re: [RC410] Xpress 200M hangs when resuming from suspend with DRI
It sounds good :) I messed up my Karmic with fglrx and after I installed X11R7.5 from PPA and then reinstalled the xserver-xorg-video-ati.. so now everything is mixed. I'll try to compile a kernel, but first I need to read more about KMS.. Thanks for the info 2009/10/28 Tormod Volden bugpost.tor...@gmail.com The word from the upstream developers is that fixing this on non-KMS is just too difficult. There are too many variations between OEM boards even with the same chipset. They concentrate all efforts on getting this fixed properly in KMS. Dave Airlie recently posted a patch which made resume work on his RC410 laptop. This patch might end up in a kernel soon. If any of you are into building your own kernels, please try the patch (using KMS of course). http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?thread_name=1256605062-3237-1 -git-send-email-airlied%40gmail.comforum_name=dri-devel -- [RC410] Xpress 200M hangs when resuming from suspend with DRI https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/305301 You received this bug notification because you are a direct subscriber of the bug. -- [RC410] Xpress 200M hangs when resuming from suspend with DRI https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/305301 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 462889] [NEW] Usability: Power History x-axis is useless (almost)
Public bug reported: When viewing the power history graphs, the way the x-axis labels and gridlines are shown is silly. Here are the reasons: 1. The time intervals between grid lines are silly. For example, on my graph right now, this interval is 22 minutes. The interval should be a multiple of 10 minutes.' 2. The x-axis is labeled in uptimes. It should be labeled in clock times, or perhaps in the form x minutes ago 3. The x-axis labels are counted backward from the current time. Suppose for a moment that problems 1 and 2 were fixed; that the grid interval is 20 minutes; and that the current time is 6:43. Then the x-axis labels would be, in reverse order, 6:43, 6:23, 6:03, 5:43, etc. This is unhelpful. The correct behavior would be to clamp the grid labels to multiples of the time interval mentioned in 1. So the grid labels should be 6:40, 6:20, 6:00, 5:40, etc., and the last grid line should *not* line up with the right-hand side of the graph, since we are 3 minutes past 6:40. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Usability: Power History x-axis is useless (almost) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/462889 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 462888] [NEW] grub2 menu stays until I press enter
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: grub2 Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala beta grub2~1.97-beta4-1ubuntu3 grub2 menu stays until I press enter. grubenv reads: recordfail=1 My understanding is, that it should only read 1 if there was a boot problem or a suspend / hibernate problem. The OS does put PC into suspend mode, I can awaken it from there. However, I have set Never mode for both PC Monitor (in Power Management), so it should not put the PC into suspend in the first place. But Grub2 apparently is told that the PC failed, because if I manually put recordfail=0 it always changes back to recordfail=1, thus the grub2 menu appears indefinitely, until I press enter. I have devised a work-around that fixes the symptom but not the actual bug: by adding the following to the bottom of the /etc/grub.d/40_custom script: fi if [ ${recordfail} = 1 ]; then set timeout=3 else set timeout=0 fi # end in this way if there was a problem with booting or suspend / hibernate one has whatever timeout one adds to this script, if grubenv were set with recordfail=0 it would boot without delay. As I wrote, it does not fix the actual bug, perhaps it really is two bugs. one in ACPI managing, the other in not resetting grub2 recordfail. as to Required input missing: I was unable to use the Record a problem... program, it refused to start, so I used: sudo ubuntu-bug grub2, to report. I could not find this exact bug described, so a new bug report may help. I have attached grub.cfg, which of course shows the altered 40_custom. BavarianPH, Ubuntu forever! But (as Sergey suggested) could be probably managed by HAL itself. ** Bug watch added: Linux Kernel Bug Tracker #14052 http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=14052 -- samsung x360 fn-keys work incorrectly https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/399911 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 462487] Re: Calc's marching ants bring Xorg to its knees
Hi Chris I'm attaching some screen shots. I opened a new instance of Calc with an empty sheet and started top. First image is the normal situation, Xorg is using 5% of CPU. Next 2 images show a selected row and a selected column and Xorg using ~30% of CPU. Interestingly, if I make the Calc window wider the effect is worse (50% CPU), so it seems to be related to the number of ants. As far as I know I have the default Human theme running with normal Compiz effects on a pretty standard intel GM965 graphics card. -- Calc's marching ants bring Xorg to its knees https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/462487 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
