[Bug 473507] Re: System Test causes Kernel error icon to appear

2009-11-05 Thread Leann Ogasawara
Hi David,

Does the error appear if you don't try to run the System Test? If not,
which test(s) did you run that triggered the bug to be reported? Its
seems there may have been a kernel oops detected, but unfortunately I'm
not seeing it in your BootDmesg.txt nor your CurrentDmesg.txt. The only
slightly related error I notice is the following which is just a
harmless warning.

[ 2645.944344] thinkpad_acpi: deprecated sysfs attribute: access by process
with PID 4029
[ 2645.944348] thinkpad_acpi: WARNING: sysfs attribute hotkey_enable is
deprecated and will be removed. Hotkey reporting is always enabled

[Bug 364918] Re: libindi0 conflicts with indi

2009-11-05 Thread noisymime
I think removing indi completely is exactly what is needed. My
understanding is that its functionality is all provided by libindi now.

As for the fact that it provides binaries to /usr/bin, that is a worry. There's
been an open bug on it for a while:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libindi/+bug/01
>From what I can see though, this is something that will have to be taken
>upstream as the files in /usr/bin are part of the original libindi source.

It *might* be possible to retain 2 packages, libindi0 for the libraries
and indi for the executables, but looking at the current source layout,
this would be quite a change.

[Bug 467481]

2009-11-05 Thread Brian Murray
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Please execute the following command, as it will
automatically gather debugging information, in a terminal:

apport-collect -p alsa-base 467481

This will help us to find and resolve the problem. Bear in mind that you
may need to install the python-launchpadlib package from the universe
repository. Additionally, when prompted to give apport-collect
permissions for Launchpad you will need to give it at least the ability
to "Change Non-Private" data as it will be adding information to your
bug report. Thanks in advance!

2009-11-05 Thread Brian Murray
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which
is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper
developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. I have classified this
bug as a bug in linux.

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport, either via the
appropriate application's "Help -> Report a Problem" menu or using
'ubuntu-bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more
about this functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

2009-11-05 Thread Brian Murray
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Please execute the following command, as it will
automatically gather debugging information, in a terminal:

apport-collect -p alsa-base 468292

This will help us to find and resolve the problem. Bear in mind that you
may need to install the python-launchpadlib package from the universe
repository. Additionally, when prompted to give apport-collect
permissions for Launchpad you will need to give it at least the ability
to "Change Non-Private" data as it will be adding information to your
bug report. Thanks in advance!

[Bug 474367] Re: PAE kernel package complains about missing headers

Hi Kyle,

It seems this DKMS error message was correct in the fact that you didn't
have the necessary kernel header files installed. After you installed
them the DKMS nvidia package installed successfully. It doesn't seem
this is really a bug but rather did the right thing in printing the
error notifying you what the issue was.

[Bug 469734] Re: [RV620] dell studio 15 karmic kernel crash on resume from suspend

2009-11-05 Thread Mervin Beng
Attached is the Xorg.0.log (Karmic / atiradeon).

On Jaunty I used ati, radeonhd and fglrx, so I'm afraid I cannot give
you a useful log. By my recollection, ati and radeonhd did not have
(major??) suspend problems, but fglrx did until the latest two updates.

Some further info. I did some testing this morning:

Using ati driver.
- Hibernate wakes up ok (no need for Ctrl-Alt-F7), but after a hibernate, other
vt sessions (Ctrl-Alt-F4) show strange screeens. However, there is NO crash
report, and the X session (Ctrl-Alt-F7) is still running.

Using radeonhd driver.
- Hibernate works as above.
- Suspend is similar to ati. Needs Ctrl-Alt-F7 to wake it up, generates crash
alert; vt sessions show messed up screen but does not completely freeze the
system.

Based on the above, I will set the power manager to hibernate on lid
close instead of suspend. Wakeup will be much slower, but at least it
seems to be more reliable.

[Bug 467433]

2009-11-05 Thread Brian Murray
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Please execute the following command, as it will
automatically gather debugging information, in a terminal:

apport-collect -p alsa-base 467433

This will help us to find and resolve the problem. Bear in mind that you
may need to install the python-launchpadlib package from the universe
repository. Additionally, when prompted to give apport-collect
permissions for Launchpad you will need to give it at least the ability
to "Change Non-Private" data as it will be adding information to your
bug report. Thanks in advance!

[Bug 410948] Re: Volume too loud

2009-11-05 Thread Artsaypunk
Maybe this is common knowledge, but maybe it'll help someone out.

I have a Dell Inspiron 9300, and for me to get the "merge-ignore" fix to
work, I had to modify the "analog-output-lfe-on-mono.conf" file instead
of the ones mentioned here. So if you have a "multimedia" laptop that
uses the "Master-Mono" channel for the subwoofer, give it a try.

[Bug 432187] Re: [KARMIC] Thinkpad T42P brightness OSD does not work

2009-11-05 Thread Joel VanderWerf
Sorry, the volume OSD issue is fixed by:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/432188

I still have the brightness problem, but I can get farther with step 4
after appying the volume fix:

$ /lib/udev/keymap -i input/event8
Press ESC to finish
scan code: 0x00 key code: brightnessup
scan code: 0x00 key code: brightnessdown
scan code: 0x00 key code: brightnessup
scan code: 0x00 key code: brightnessdown
scan code: 0x00 key code: brightnessup

So now the keys are recognized. But why are the scan codes 0?

[Bug 469087] Re: Lid close doesn't work Dell Vostro A90 with SD card inserted

2009-11-05 Thread KenBW2
I read that this relates to Jaunty where it's limited to a 16GB SD card,
possibly when mounted as /home. This killed suspend/resume for me on Jaunty.
As for Karmic, I can suspend or hibernate *once*, but subsequent
suspends/hibernates result in taking me to the login screen until I restart

[Bug 473649] Re: No idea what happend, just booted up and had a kernel bug report to send.

2009-11-05 Thread Leann Ogasawara
Hi the-ngt,

I'm unfortunately not seeing anything obvious in terms of error messages
in your attached BootDmesg.txt nor your CurrentDmesg.txt. I'd normally
would have maybe also expected to see an attached OopsText.txt file but
that doesn't seem to be the case here either. The fact that you're not
noticing any lack of functionality combined with the fact there isn't
much in terms of logged errors to go from, I'd lean towards maybe just
closing this report for now. In the event the error is detected again,
please do report it. Maybe it will have logged more information to help
point to the issue. Thanks.

Hi,

I really don't know how to rectify this bug. It is very annoying...
Considering the fact that so many people got this bug with PSPP with Karmic,
I guess developers will find a solution soon.

The best we can do is to wait for an update.
