[Bug 352118] Re: WPA writes possibly unnecessary messages to the system log
[quote] So one workaround is to simply edit the file: /usr/share/dbus-1/system- services/fi.epitest.hostap.WPASupplicant.service and remove the -s from from the exec line. This will prevent all wpa_supplicant messages hitting the syslog, and that is what upstream wpa_supplicant binaries will do --- the -s option was added by debian/patches/11_syslog.patch. [Bug 241736] Re: support EPUB format
In Kubuntu 9.10, KDE's document viewer, Okular, has ePub support. You should be able to install it in Ubuntu 9.10 with sudo apt-get install okular. Adobe Digital Editions has the best support for CSS in ePubs that I have seen. Okular does not seem to have support for ePub CSS, which doesn't affect readability; it just means that if the ePub creator has used alternative fonts, etc., that styling will be ignored. And Okular is certainly a lot prettier than FBReader. You could also consider using Bookworm, which is an online ePub reader ... http://bookworm.oreilly.com/ ... and works perfectly in Firefox, Chromium and Epiphany. -- support EPUB format https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/241736 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 481759] Re: [karmic] Sound disappears on 82801I Audio (Thinkpad X200 and T400) after updates
On my Thinkpad X200 Tablet PC, the behaviour depends on the audio state of windows. When I shut windows down with audio silenced, then I will have audio on the headphone jack only once I boot Ubuntu. When I shut windows down with audio enabled, then I have audio on the speakers in Ubuntu. I am running the Karmic Koala -- all updates made -- which I installed using WUBI. Slainte! [Bug 482504] Re: Rhythmbox crashes after I hit Previous to go back to specific midi
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report you wish to submit. If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using /usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding. ** Changed in: rhythmbox (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Medium ** Changed in: rhythmbox (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid -- Rhythmbox crashes after I hit Previous to go back to specific midi https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/482504 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
Re: [Bug 446956] Re: Upgrade from Ubuntu 9.04 to 9.10 fails with essential package 'ubuntu-minimal' can not be found anymore (mirror overloaded)
2009/11/25 Bert Vorenholt b...@vorenholt.nl In the last couple of days, I tried a couple of times to upgrade without any luck. After I disabled all third-party repositories, the upgrade is working while i'm writing this comment. About two weeks ago, I finally did manage to upgrade from, in my case, Kubuntu 9.04 to 9.10 - including all the third party software repositories.. However, I needed to bug-fix something essential a few days after the upgrade: a package that is essential for the interaction with the video card. Now, the system is running quite well. Only the sound is again a point of reflection and research. But I am not yet sure whether this is a hardware or software problem. Respectfully yours. Hi Rachael, Is this still an issue for you? You should not have to add a file to your ~/Ubuntu One folder for files on the server to show up after reinstalling the client. On Wednesday 25,November,2009 11:34 PM, Gene Caldwell wrote: @Chow Loong Jin Point and click DID NOT WORK YOU MORON !!! Thats why this bug was opened, because people could not share folders. This gets more amusing. I've now degraded from a twit to a moron. For all your chivalry of not attacking an unarmed opponent, you sure have no reservations about calling people names. Back on topic, the bug was opened by a user who did not have the nautilus-share package installed, which was prior to the time when nautilus-share was installed by default. As mentioned in /usr/share/doc/ubuntu-desktop/changelog.gz, the change was made to Ubuntu Hardy (8.04), on the 31st of March, 2008, and hence should be installed by default from Ubuntu 8.04 onwards. Hence it is marked fix released. What PeterNZ was talking about seems to be something entirely different, since he did mention he has nautilus-share installed. And then you come along, throwing insults at me in an undignified manner and then contradicting yourself by saying you don't want to attack unarmed opponents, and saying something along the lines of sudo. Incidentally, I still don't get what you were trying to tell PeterNZ to run as sudo, and you still haven't clarified yourself on that either. -- Kind regards, Chow Loong Jin (GPG: 0x8F02A411) Ubuntu Contributing Developer -- share folder does not appear https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/215810 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 485131] Re: it happens with all Radio France channels programs and this is the first time in more than 2 yrs. Unsuccessful is displayed immediately. No waiting possible.
Hi Pedro ! Thank you very much for answering me. I'll try to describe better the situation. I've been using for 2 years Rhythmbox to podcast from Radio France (France Culture). I never had problems, but RF eventually sometimes has (for example files names too long). So when 12 days back I couldn't podcast any RF program I thought the problem was RF. But it lasted for days and RF wouldn't answer my e-mails about how long it would be so. I tried to podcast programs coming from other RF radios. It didn't work as well. Then I ask someone who uses Windows and iTunes to experiment and it worked. Finally I tried to podcast programs from a private radio (Europe 1p) and it worked. This is why I think that either RF or a Rhythmbox update changed some protocol. Now what happens when I open Rhythmbox : The new programs appear immediately with their duration, a red (no way) sign in front and the mention failed. When I open properties details it indicates not downloaded and gives this source, for example, http://rf.proxycast.org/m/media/296096201420/c=culture/p=France+Culture+-+Les+matins+de+France+Culture_10075/l3=20091125/l4=/http:/media.radiofrance-podcast.net/podcast09/10075-25.11.2009-ITEMA_20205409-0.mp3 I'm afraid I can't say more. [Bug 488283] [NEW] Entire computer freezes when moving a terminal
Public bug reported: Hi, I am using a fresh Ubuntu installation with Compiz turned off. About twice a day the entire system freezes right after I drag a terminal window around on the desktop. The computer then responds to pings, but cannot be logged into using ssh. Nothing was left in the system log files either. So, it seems that this has to be some kind of bug in the fglrx kernel module, or at least in the way it is access by the fglrx driver. To reproduce, grab the title bar of a gnome-terminal window, and wave the window around. The redrawing is a bit jerky, and can sometimes cause the bug described here. -BenRI ProblemType: Bug Architecture: amd64 Date: Wed Nov 25 11:06:26 2009 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.04 MachineType: LENOVO 2767WYA NonfreeKernelModules: fglrx Package: xorg 1:7.4+3ubuntu9 PccardctlIdent: Socket 0: no product info available PccardctlStatus: Socket 0: no card ProcCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.32-4-generic root=UUID=1f0bd46c-d880-446f-affc-1ecbf92d9b8e ro quiet splash ProcEnviron: PATH=(custom, user) LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.32-4.5-generic RelatedPackageVersions: xserver-xorg 1:7.4+3ubuntu9 libgl1-mesa-glx 7.6.0-1ubuntu4 libdrm2 2.4.14-1ubuntu1 xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.9.0-1ubuntu2 xserver-xorg-video-ati 1:6.12.99+git20090929.7968e1fb-0ubuntu1 SourcePackage: xorg Symptom: display Tags: freeze Title: Xorg freeze Uname: Linux 2.6.32-4-generic x86_64 dmi.bios.date: 10/13/2009 dmi.bios.vendor: LENOVO dmi.bios.version: 7UET79WW (3.09 ) dmi.board.name: 2767WYA dmi.board.vendor: LENOVO dmi.board.version: Not Available dmi.chassis.asset.tag: No Asset Information dmi.chassis.type: 10 dmi.chassis.vendor: LENOVO dmi.chassis.version: Not Available dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnLENOVO:bvr7UET79WW(3.09):bd10/13/2009:svnLENOVO:pn2767WYA:pvrThinkPadT400:rvnLENOVO:rn2767WYA:rvrNotAvailable:cvnLENOVO:ct10:cvrNotAvailable: dmi.product.name: 2767WYA dmi.product.version: ThinkPad T400 dmi.sys.vendor: LENOVO system: distro: Ubuntu architecture: x86_64kernel: 2.6.32-4-generic ** Affects: fglrx-installer (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug freeze -- Entire computer freezes when moving a terminal https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/488283 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Public bug reported: Please consider Bootchart for inclusion in main. https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MainInclusionBootchart The Mobile team would like to include bootchart information in our builds up to RC to help speed up the boot process. Bootchart has been approved for main inclusion before but was held back when it was deemed not necessary at the time. We only need bootchart, not any of the graphical generation tools associated with it as that will be done on another machine. All dependencies are already in main. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Description changed: Please consider Bootchart for inclusion in main. - https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MainInclusionBootchart + https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MainInclusionBootchart - The Mobile team would like to include bootchart information in our build - up to RC to help speed up the boot process. + The Mobile team would like to include bootchart information in our + builds up to RC to help speed up the boot process. Re: [Bug 483854] Re: Sync telepathy-mission-control-5 5.3.2-2 (main) from Debian sid (main)
I had opened about four sync requests like this I shouldn't have when you were at UDS. I think this is the last of them though. Don't worry I have learned my lesson and wont be doing it again. [Bug 479410] Re: External microphone jack not working on Dell Studio 1735 notebook.
I had similar problems on an MSI based laptop. Since the recent updates to 2.6.31-15 the external microphone now works as microphone 1 and the internal one as microphone 2. Before the above update, I couldn't connect the external Mic port at all. Tried the backports solution with no success and I had boot problems here as well. -- External microphone jack not working on Dell Studio 1735 notebook. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/479410 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 445953] Re: shutdown asks for password with only 1 user logged in
just a status update: I've gotten this once more, and it was a cron job but I don't know which one, by the time I dug that far into it, it was done.
