[Bug 509528] Re: Security manager breaks session listing
The security manager is causing lots of usability issues because it's difficult to get right, for little additional security (since we run as an unprivileged user). Upstream tomcat disables it by default. For Lucid, we are also considering disabling it by default (it will still be an option for those who know what they are doing). For working around your bug, both solutions are valid. I'd suggest adding a policy file if you still want to run with the securitymanager on. -- Security manager breaks session listing https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/509528 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

You can safely change useProxy to 0,or as root open synaptic (system -> administration -> synaptic package manager ) and go to "settings -> preferences -> network" and change it there. This is a long standing issue in synaptic. You can read further comments about this issue in bug 13661 . On this bug is fixed, update-manager won't have to check for synaptic proxy settings anymore. [Bug 517952] Re: MP3 player no longer visible after update
After running Terminal with the instructions you gave, I ran Rhythmbox with the Creative Zen MP3 player attached. It was not found by Rhythmbox. Prior to updating Rhythmbox, I was able to see the player listed on the left hand side and its contents, although i wasn't able to play any of the items listed. Now the player doesn't even show up in the list. Regarding the "rhythmbox-debug" instruction, it was running for about 45 mins before I decided enough log had been created. It didn't look like it was ever going to finish so I closed it down. If you want me to run it again and just leave it running I will but perhaps you could tell me how long it is likely to run. Battery powered performance is abysmal. Works for about 5 minutes and then goes down. [Bug 519641] Re: gdm/x fails to start with error "Broken Pipe" at boot in Xubuntu
After speaking with crimsun in #ubuntu+1 he politely pointed it that it could be driver issue.. looking at the binary hints some more, I tend to think he's right since dkms is not present as well as the listing in "GLXinfo" being absent. This issue may be more correctly filed under either the kernel package or xserver-xorg-video-intel. What I intend to do tomorrow is run some traces on x, mesa and the intel driver and perhaps rebuild them and check it out that way. -- gdm/x fails to start with error "Broken Pipe" at boot in Xubuntu https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/519641 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 477226] Re: Sound simultaneously on headphones and speakers - Lenovo IdeaPad u350
Ok, since I don't have access to the hardware, I have to take another approach. Please test again with the packages that will end up in my PPA shortly. They are the sae package names, however they will give a full debug log in dmesg. This means that your dmesg log will be quite full. So since we know the patch makes things worse, I'd ask you to boot with this package installed, and immediately after logging in, dump the contents of your dmesg, like so, in a terminal: dmesg > dmesg.txt and attach the resulting dmesg.txt to this bug. After that, feel free to uninstall the package.
