[Bug 363282] Re: Gstreamer reports internal data flow error for ogg vorbis stream

2010-02-26 Thread maksymov.vlad
Hi!
I have the same problem with icecast + exaile (Internal data flow error) /
Totem Rhythmbox (buffering and buffering and buffering...). about 10sec
before changing tracks.
But, vlc works well without errors. O_o why?

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to
look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many
changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem
may have been fixed with some of the updates. If you could test the
current Ubuntu development version, this would help us a lot. If you can
test it, and it is still an issue, we would appreciate if you could
upload updated logs relevant for this particular issue.

I would also appreciate if you check System Sound Output and change
the output device to see if it solves your problem.

PATH (it's in /usr/lib/gdm), and there's no need for users to be
manually executing this anyway.

[Bug 449350] Re: The DynamicPM option makes the X server use 100% CPU

2010-02-26 Thread Laurent Bonnaud
Since then I am using a newer laptop. On this new laptop I can run
either the radeon free driver or the fglrx proprietary driver since both
drivers support the Mobility Radeon HD 3650 included in this new laptop.
With the fglrx driver and its dynamic frequency adjustment the laptop
can run twice longer on battery (4h instead of 2h). Therefore I propose
that the importance of this bug should be raised.

[Bug 528338] [NEW] Find in Message does not update number of matches in find bar if string is not found

2010-02-26 Thread Alex Valavanis
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

== To reproduce ==
(1) Open an email
(2) Select the Find in Message tool (CTRL+SHIFT+F) to open the find bar
(3) Search for a string such as the, which occurs in the message.
(4) Search for a string such as zxczxc which does NOT occur in the message

== What should happen ==
* After step 3, Matches: n appears at the right of the find bar, where n
is the number of times the string occurs in the message.
* After step 4, Matches: 0 appears.

== What happened instead ==
* Correct results after step 3.
* After step 4, the number of matches is not updated. This gives the false
impression that the message contains the string zxczxc n times, when in
fact it does not appear at all.

ProblemType: Bug
Architecture: i386

[Bug 447940] Re: Obscure notification message: 'com.apple.print.recoverable'

2010-02-26 Thread Dave E Mason
Colan: sorry to mis-spell you as Colin.

Till: Yes, I realised after I posted that I should try AppSocket. I did,
then restarted CUPS, in case that matters. but no change. Haven't yet
tried restarting Ubuntu, will do that soon.

I've realised that I'm discussing this under
com.apple.print.recoverable which is the error msg I got under Karmic
9.10 so I'm kind of assuming if I can get 9.04 to print then the same
solution might work for 9.10.

How do I point the bjnp: as AndyPiper recommends? I assume bjnp
refers to Canon's bubble-jet network printing protocol and I have
installed cups-bjnp-0.5.4 (not 0.5). Is this something I can access
specifically? Or did AndyPiper use it as shorthand for CUPS?

[Bug 512567] Re: hotkeys adjust brightness non-monotonically on EEEPC 1005PE

2010-02-26 Thread jens_acamedia
Just to review one more time so that all steps are in here for this
workaround (I hope it will be fixed properly for 10.04 so that
integration with power-manager works)

1. Make sure you are on BIOS 0706. If not:
Just to review the procedure for flashing the BIOS:
1) get 1005P-ASUS-0706.ZIP from http://support.asus.com/download
2) extract 1005P-ASUS-0706.ROM to a USB stick, being sure to RENAME IT
1005P.ROM
3) power-on the EEPC1005PE while holding down ALT and tapping F2 repeatedly.
The update then occurs automatically.

2. Change this line in /etc/default/grub by doing
sudo nano /etc/default/grub
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=acpi_osi=Linux

Then:
sudo -s
cd /boot/grub
grub-mkconfig grub.cfg

3. In order to keep your brightness and adjust it manually:
disable both enable and batter_reduce under apps gnome-power-manager
backlight
in gconf-editor (which you start by alt-f2 and typing gconf-editor)

Me too... I can't even connect to the 802.1x network. It does not accept any

And why, BTW, in the 802.1x tab you have to fill so many fields (PEAP version,
anonymous identity), when in MS Windoze it just plays without those? Anyway,
just asking, not whining!

  ProblemType: Bug

+
+ SRU-information:
+ This bug makes the xdmx package completely unusable on karmic. Lucid has a
newer upstream release of xserver-xorg included, which includes various patches
to xdmx. To make xdmx work on karmic at least 4 patches to xdmx are needed,
these are cherrypicked from upstream git. The patches only modify files in
hw/dmx/, so there should be no impact on other parts of xserver-xorg.
+
+ TEST CASE:
+ - install xdmx and Xephyr: aptitude install xserver-xephyr xdmx
+ - start Xephyr on display 1: Xephyr :1
+ - start xdmx on display 2, taking Xephyr on 1 as its only display: Xdmx :2

[Bug 528344] [NEW] ratbox-services crashes when trying to register a user

2010-02-26 Thread aalhadsaraf
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ratbox-services-sqlite

Using Ubuntu 9.10 32bit

Steps:
1. Installed using sudo apt-get install ircd-ratbox
and
sudo apt-get install ratbox-services

2. Configured the config files pertaining to ircd-ratbox and ratbox-services so
that the default connection
was established OK.

2010/2/26 19.03 Connection to server talk.test/ activated
2010/2/26 19.03 Connection to server talk.test established
2010/2/26 19.03 Connection to server talk.test completed

3. Connected using an IRC client and used
/msg userserv register abcuser password u...@mail.com

expected result: registering the user should succeed.
actual result: nothing happened.

sudo tail /var/log/ratbox-services/ratbox-services.log showed:

2010/2/26 19.04 fatal error: problem with db file: unable to open database file
2010/2/26 19.04 ratbox-services terminated: (problem with db file)

This problem seemed to be reported on debian in
http://lists.ratbox.org/pipermail/ircd-ratbox/2008-September/000841.html

However, the problem reporter did not follow up and respond to
http://lists.ratbox.org/pipermail/ircd-ratbox/2008-September/000842.html
.
Does this mean you're using the debian packages, or did you compile from
source?
.

This would perhaps be fixed with pulling in the latest stable release into the
repository?

[Bug 528343] [NEW] Network Manager loose wired link when using 8021q (vlan manually)

2010-02-26 Thread Csaba Lack
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: network-manager

Intrepid handled corretly, but after fresh install to Karmic the NM 0.8
stops managing wired ethernet when using manually created vlan
interfaces.

1. NM0.8 managing eth0 corretly (dhcp - 10.0.0.26/24)
2. modprobe 8021q still ok
3. edit /etc/network/intefaces:
iface eth0.200 inet static
address 10.26.0.26
netmask 255.255.0.0
4. ifup eth0.200 to brings vlan200 and set static ip for it
5. NM0.8 lost wired connection and device unmanaged
6. ifdown eth0.200 - NM0.8 works on eth0 again.

If I create vlan by hand (which is not in the interfaces file) it works fine.
   3. edit /etc/network/intefaces remove all line (eth0.200) except:
auto lo
iface lo inet loopback
   4. service network-manager restart (for reload the config file)
   5. vconfig add eth0 200
  ifconfig eth0.200 inet 10.26.0.26/16
   6. NM 0.8 handle eth0 corretly and the manually created eth0.200 works
fine...

[Bug 528355] [NEW] Unnecessary imports to work out apport reporting is disabled

2010-02-26 Thread Stuart Colville
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: apport

This post http://rhodesmill.org/brandon/2010/ubuntu-
exception-190-modules/ demonstrates a bug in the way apport settings are
checked.

To demonstrate the problem:

 import sys
 len(sys.modules)
34
 foo
Traceback (most recent call last):
File stdin, line 1, in module
NameError: name 'foo' is not defined
 len(sys.modules)
215

This is because the apport_python_hook.py imports from apport to use the
enabled method that checks /etc/default/apport

The solution is to move the check of /etc/default/apport into the hook
which results in the following:

Type help, copyright, credits or license for more information.
 import sys
 len(sys.modules)
39
 foo
Traceback (most recent call last):

Re: [Bug 511691] Re: Nautilus disc burner does not use specified disc name

2010-02-26 Thread Husse
Hi Clem
Not Brasero as it is the Nautilus thingy that behaves bad

 Hi Husse,

It's an upstream bug to us. It's hard to know where the fault
 originates:

 - It could be Brasero...
 - It could be Gnome itself...
 - It could be a patch in Ubuntu...

Sense, can you reproduce the problem in Ubuntu? I doubt this is specific
 to Mint.

Status in The Linux Mint Distribution: Confirmed
Status in “nautilus” package in Ubuntu: Invalid

 Bug description:
 OS: Linux Mint 8 Helena
 Gnome: 2.28.0
 Gnome Nautilus: 2.28.1
 Brasero: 2.28.2

I'm not sure exactly which package this involves, but the problem I am
facing is that when I use the CD/DVD creator method of burning to disc
with the drag and drop feature in a Nautlius window and then specify a disc
name, once the burn process has completed, the disc is named 'CDROM' as
opposed the name that I had typed in.

 To reproduce:
1)insert a blank CD/DVD into the disc drive
2)select the CD/DVD creator option to burn to a blank disc
3)drag a file to the drag and drop area
4)click on the write to disc button
5)enter a new name into the 'disc name' section and proceed with the burn.

[Bug 510004] Re: [lucid regression] random graphics effects after resume from suspend to RAM

It's been a few days that I haven't booted into Lucid, but today I find
the resume experience even worse than before: not only is the display
garbled after resuming, but now I see seemingly randomly blinking pixels
in a pattern that changes as the screen is updated.

Thanks for your efforts though!

[Bug 528359] [NEW] blank gdm screen, power managment and panel applet issues

2010-02-26 Thread ABH
Public bug reported:

Hi!

I've read through other bug reports with similar issues, but this seems
to be a separate bug.

I've been having strange problems with Karmic. (I've never really had
any problems with Ubuntu on my laptop since the dapper days).

Specs:

Acer Aspire 5633wlmi (5630 series)
Intel Core 2 Duo processor T5500 (1.66 GHz)
256mb NVIDIA GeForce Go 7300 w/Turbo Cache
2GB DDR2 (support dual-channel) RAM
BCM4401-B0 100Base-TX
Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG wifi

I've done the following:

-Upgrade from 9.04 to 9.10
-Fresh install of 9.10 x64 and x32
-install via wubi (ubuntu installer via windows)
-install openSUSE Gnome 11.2

But no matter what I do I end up with the same errors:

-blank gdm screen (ugly brown background after the white ubuntu splash
screen) for about 1-2 minutes before I am finally prompted for my
password.

-upon every login I am presented with errors on various panel applets
such as mixer and indicator.

-power management shows no battery tab and loads after 1-2 minutes upon
clicking in the systems preferences menu.

-other application like update manager, gimp and the terminal are slow
to respond and lag.

I am dual booting with Windows 7 x64 and have no issues. I've run
several memory diagnostics with 0 errors,

When I'm stuck at the blank gmd screen (as described above) i can login
via ctrl+alt+F1 but even the tty1 appears sluggish and text lags as I
type.

[Bug 527704] Re: [lucid] Ubiquity suggests default hostname as -laptop-laptop-laptop-laptop-laptop

2010-02-26 Thread Tomasz Czapiewski

+ SYMPTOMS:
Ubiquity in Kubuntu lucid desktop from image:
  lucid-desktop-amd64.iso 24-Feb-2010 19:33 686M Desktop CD for 64-bit
PC (AMD64) computers (standard download)

-laptop-laptop-laptop-laptop-laptop.
- It looks like it's getting in a loop... and doesn't get username from dialog
to combine hostname.
+ It looks like it's getting in a loop... appending -laptop to hostname with

[Bug 479988] Re: nm-applet crashes after entering password for 802.1x network

2010-02-26 Thread Krystl
Nm-applet still crashing, but connection to 802.1x is possible. Here is
my solution: when dialog appears to enter password, you can enter
anything, doesn't matter, because nm-applet crashes right after you
click connect. Then open console and run nm-applet . The you can choose
again 802.1x protected network to connect. Now it's working OK. So
doesn't matter what password you enter to dialog, the important is to
enter right password in Edit Connection dialog.

I really can't undersatnd why, do you have any ideas?

You can try to boot into the recovery mode (netroot !) and uninstall
that particular package with sudo apt-get purge packagename and to
sudo dpkg --configure -a if necessary due to the upgrade interruption.
Maybe yo'll find an upgraded package of that one on
http://packages.ubuntu.com;. Search for the Karmic package there.
