[Bug 625285] [NEW] Sync qcad 2.0.5.0-1+090318-7 (universe) from Debian experimental (main)

2010-08-27 Thread Scott Howard
Public bug reported:

Please sync qcad 2.0.5.0-1+090318-7 (universe) from Debian experimental
(main)

Bug fix only update (same upstream source as currently in Maverick).
Package in Maverick is quite buggy (was orphaned), but fixed in Debian (adopted
by debian-science.)
Please sync with experimental (I uploaded there because of the Debian freeze).

This sync will fix bug #536975, bug #573354, bug #621351, bug #327752,
bug #524433, bug #578400.

Changelog entries since current maverick version 2.0.5.0-1+090318-2:

qcad (2.0.5.0-1+090318-7) experimental; urgency=low

  * debian/qcad.desktop: fixed capitalization in name, added Engineering
categories, removed semi-colons after each entry. Corrected
installation of debian/qcad.menu to /usr/share/menu

 -- Scott Howard showard...@gmail.com Thu, 26 Aug 2010 08:02:36 -0400

qcad (2.0.5.0-1+090318-6) unstable; urgency=low

  * Fixed FTBFS on kfreebsd* by updating config.{guess, sub} in dxflib/
and fparser/

qcad (2.0.5.0-1+090318-5) unstable; urgency=low

  * Added auto-generated configure files to dh_clean override.
  * Fixed bug to show latin characters ç,ã,õ,â,ô,á,é,í,ó,ú,à and ü.

qcad (2.0.5.0-1+090318-4) unstable; urgency=low

  * Adopted by debian-science (Closes: #588854)
- Scott Howard added to uploaders
  * DM-Upload-Allowed per debian-science policy
  * Typos in previous changelog (Closes: #564275, Closes: #572984)
  * Policy 3.9.0, no changes
  * debian/rules
- use dh overrides instead of makefile targets
- use autoreconf to generate configure and Makefiles (rather than use
upstream's). Depend on automake instead of autotools-dev
- removed calls to dh_installman dh_installmenu and replaced with
  debian/qcad.menus debian/qcad.manpages
  * Removed debian/README.source's references to quilt, not needed
with quilt source 3.0
  * Fixed typo in debian/control (Closes: #579141)
  * Removed libqcad0-dev package from control. The package does not include
any library binaries and has no rdepends.
  * Added a link from /usr/share/qcad to the help files, and prevent the
qtassistant profiles from being compressed (Closes: #581257)

  [Steffen Moeller]

  * helping security of upstream's scripts

[Bug 625284] [NEW] 5 second delay between print jobs

2010-08-27 Thread Peter Matulis
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: cups

In Ubuntu 9.10 and 10.04 (CUPS 1.3 and 1.4) when sending multiple print
jobs there is a 5 second delay due to CUPS waiting for confirmation that
the previous job was completed. This is fine but the documentation says
that when using the AppSocket (JetDirect) protocol this behaviour can be
disabled by using the 'waiteof' option appended to the device URI:

$ lpadmin -p printername -u allow:all -E -v
socket://192.168.0.1:9100?waiteof=false

This backchannel wait time is supposed to be removed from CUPS version
1.4.4 (Ubuntu 10.10). Would it be possible to backport this change to
9.10 and 10.04?

[Bug 358654] Re: udevadm trigger is not permitted while udev is unconfigured

2010-08-27 Thread Aymeric Mansoux
Same here.

We got this one on a machine after a fresh update from lucid-proposed.
None of the usual workaround (reconfiguring, reinstalling udev) fixed
the situation. Only a complete rebuild of the initramfs images did the
trick.

- chroot in your broken install from a liveUSB/CD
- sudo update-initramfs -u -k
- reboot

All sorted. It was a pain to narrow it done as it first seemed to be an
LVM or disk issue, but no.

[Bug 624612] Re: Contol panel:My Settings/Software update should point to USR repository

2010-08-27 Thread David Farning
This is an issues where a default set of activities are install as .deb
packages while the user can install additional activities as xo bundles
via activities.sugarlabs.org. Activities installed as .deb should use
apt-get to update and activities installed as .xo bundles should go to
aslo.

This is a rather well understood problem... with no perfect solution.
The best example in ubuntu is how firefox handles addons. Some addons
are packaged as .debs and some addons are installed via
addons.mozilla.org.

[Bug 608898] Re: PiTiVi has problems to switch from one video track to another when they follow each other

2010-08-27 Thread randolf
Hello I have this problem too.
My hardware is an Core2 Duo 2GHz Intel Mobile, 2GByte RAM, ATI Mobile GPU.
Using Ubuntu 10.04, PiTiVi from actual package repository.
Tried to combine 2 DV-Videos (PAL, 48Khz Audio) and a background soundtrack.
When a clip starts and ends (overlapping and with a gap to the clip before) I
can hear a gap or clicking noise in background audio.
The if overlapping, the video seems to jiggle. Have the same effect in preview
and in the rendered result-file. Tried different output-codecs.
If this would work, I would love PiTiVi very much. Its really easy to use and
the option with graphical volume envelopes are very intuitive. Thank you.

[Bug 568492] Re: Fonts corrupted on Openoffice menus and Lotus Notes 8.5 with nvidia, compiz, twinview and subpixel smoothing.

2010-08-27 Thread osfight.de
Confirm this bug using Nvidia + TwinView + Compiz. Turning off Compiz
makes the fonts appear nicely.

Ubuntu Lucid 10.04.1
nvidia: 195.36.24
compiz: 0.8.4
oooffice: 3.2.1

Sorry for ranting, but Compiz sucks hell. This openoffice font bug is
one of many (very annoying) due to Compiz.

[Bug 625294] [NEW] Unable to boot maverick daily images -- RAM not detected

2010-08-27 Thread Ronald McCollam
Public bug reported:

After installation on an IBM x3250 and an IBM x3650, the maverick daily
images do not boot.

With image 20100826 I receive the following message when trying to boot:

It appears your computer has less than 277K of low (DOS) RAM.
Syslinux needs at least this amount to boot. If you get this message in
error, hold down the Ctrl key while booting, and I will take your word
for it.

Holding Ctrl does indeed allow the systems to boot and they seem to work
correctly. However as these are servers this is not a workable long-
term solution.

[Bug 625292] [NEW] won't sleep: dell latitude e6500 under linux-image-2.6.32-24-generic (works under 2.6.32-22-generic)

2010-08-27 Thread Ian
Public bug reported:

under linux 2.6.32-21 and 2.6.32-22, my dell latitude e6500 will
properly sleep when the power cable was removed and the lid closed.

under linux 2.6.32-24, it never works. it seems to go through most of
the steps involved in sleeping, but the display never turns off. once
this happens, the computer is completely unresponsive to keypresses or
opening and closing the lid -- i have to give it a hard shutdown.

executing /etc/acpi/sleep.sh sleep from the command line (instead of
closing the lid) does the same thing.

this happens EVERY TIME.

i'm running with nonfree kernel modules nvidia and wl.

$ lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS
Release:10.04

if they are vitally necessary, i can attach the /proc/version_signature
and dmesg from 2.6.32-24, but i'd rather not boot into it (i'm using -22
right now) since the inability to put the computer to sleep kills my
productivity.

[Bug 576531] Re: netdiscovery: relocation error segfault

2010-08-27 Thread Rutger Hendriks
I found part of the solution for the error
netdiscovery: relocation error: /lib/libnss_files.so.2: symbol __rawmemchr,
version GLIBC_2.2.5 not defined in file libc.so.6 with link time reference

I renamed the file /lib/libnss_files.so.2 like so:
cd /lib
mv libnss_files.so.2 libnss_files.so.2-64bit

and created a link to the 32-bit version:
cd /lib
ln -s ../lib32/libnss_files.so.2 .

Now I don't have a problem running the Samsung scanner.

I'm guessing I will have problems now with other programs that do require the
64-bit version of libnss_files.so.2
So probably someone can come up with a solution to simply use the 32bit version
for /lib32 without remove the 64-bit version.

Please let us know!

forget to move pci.ids/usb.ids to /lib/hwdata/ or so
- 2009 Mai 05 17:06:57 mezcalero pitti: i.e. the usb-db/pci-db tools need it
during eraly boot
- 2009 Mai 05 17:07:38 pitti Keybuk: that sounds like there should be an

Linux/Android phones with official Linux drivers and documentation

within the community. Router corporation does not support Linux? Then we
should build our own routers with components that is certified for
Linux. There are quite many of us that want such a thing so we should be
able to finance it. For example i stumbled across the Armadeus embedded
 Linux board a while ago.

This has been tried. When Routerboard started, it was very open... It
did not take the world by storm. Now it is Mikrotic, fee based, semi
closed, and not a shining example of FOSS.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Routerboard If you want to sell hardware,
go ahead. It is a tough, and expensive business with razor thin
margins. The only reason Apple has big margins is they have a lock on
the hardware. The only way Linux could do the same is to break support
for Dell, and the like. Not what I want.

That all said, I will not buy anything for my company without good Linux
drivers. We have more Windows desktops than anything, so why do I do
this? Because I don't know if that desktop will ALWAYS run WinXP. I
still have an old Visioneer Paperport scanner that has never been used.
No drivers for the system. Just old Win95 drivers unless you want to
BUY the new ones. Permanent hardware blacklist.

[Bug 625304] [NEW] Music control buttons can't be accessed through keyboard

2010-08-27 Thread Jorge Suárez de Lis
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: indicator-sound

The music control buttons aren't accessible though keyboard.

What happens now:

 * When you navigate through the keyboard there is no position notificacion
(when the music control has the focus, you don't have visual feedback), nothing
is highlighted.
 * If you press left or right, it cycles through indicator menus.
 * If you press space, Previous button is activated.

What should happen:

 * A mouseover visual feedback is needed for this to work. There is currently
no mouseover effect at all. When you navigate through the keyboard the
play/pause button should be highlighted.
 * If you press left or right, left or right buttons should be activated. Not
highlighted, but activated. Anyone pressing left or right to highlight an
option would press space afterwards, so let's make it simplier: only one
keystroke needed.
 * If you press space, Play/pause button is activated.

[Bug 561802] Re: [i915] blank screen on Latitude E6410

2010-08-27 Thread catsdogs
My problem is still current - I can only boot into a working X desktop
if I add

 i915.modeset=0 xforcevesa

to the grub boot command. Sometimes the screen is garbled at the login
prompt and I need to CTRL-ALT-F1, login to the shell, restart gdm, then
logout again, at which point the screen is legible.

I'm presently trying to manually write an xorg.conf file to allow me to
use 1280x800 in vesa, but so far no luck. When I type

 xandr -q the output is

1024x768 0.0*
800x600 0.0
640x480 0.0

Any idea as to how I can change the screen resolution?

I can't believe the original issue hasn't been fixed!

[Bug 432241] Re: udevadm crashed with SIGSEGV in vfprintf() and udevd gives lots of errors booting up.

2010-08-27 Thread Martin Pitt
I intensely stared at the code, but I can't see anything obviously wrong
with this. Did you ever get this crash again? Do you have a way to
reproduce this?

There are no duplicates on this bug, so nobody else got this so far.

Thanks!

[Bug 625309] [NEW] iscsi hardware not detected for install

2010-08-27 Thread Ronald McCollam
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: partman-iscsi

When attempting to install the maverick daily image (in this case,
20100827) to systems with iscsi devices, the disk devices are not
detected.

In the partitioner, the only option available is Configure iSCSI
volumes. When selected, the only available item is Log into iSCSI
targets.

Previously, devices were automatically detected and configured.

Okay. Then you have the 12d1:1446, which saw only minor changes within the usb-
modeswitch-data package history (only the TargetProductList got altered). I
guess that the problem is somewhere in usb-modeswitch.

So it should work with any version of usb-modeswitch-data, but you experience
non-working with usb-modeswitch 1.1.4 but working with 1.1.3 ?
