[Bug 605716] Re: CD/DVD Drives not recognized since upgrade to Lucid.

2010-10-06 Thread Lee Jones
I need a few things from you.

Firstly can you send me a printscreen of qpxtool when a disk is
inserted.

Secondly can you put various disks in then send me the following files:

/var/log/messages
/var/log/kernel.log

Also, you mentioned that you can get it to play for several minutes. Can
you do that until it falls over, then send me those files please?

[Bug 655566] [NEW] [sync request] pype from debian unstable main

2010-10-06 Thread Andreas Noteng
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pype

Pype is broken in Maverick, and most likely also in lucid and maybe karmic. The
package has been abandoned in Debian since 2006, but I took over maintainership
of the package, and it has now been updated in unstable.
If syncing after freeze is out of the question, the package should be deleted,
and reintroduced in Natty.
See bug #618246.

The Debian changelog since the current version in ubuntu:
 pype (2.9.1-1) unstable; urgency=low

   * New upstream version (closes: #598661)
   * New maintainer. (Orphaned package) (closes: #579372)

[Bug 655569] [NEW] Epiphany stops refreshing once Googlemail is loaded

2010-10-06 Thread Michael
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: epiphany-browser

When I load Googlemail in a tab in Epiphany and open a message the
display freezes. The browser continues to react normally, and I can

am using the Ubuntu global appmenu if that is relevant.

[Bug 613926] Re: Sync josm 0.0.svn3514-2 (universe) from Debian sid (main)

2010-10-06 Thread David Paleino
Requesting FeatureFreezeException.

It would be nice to have a newer JOSM in Maverick, because the current
version doesn't have OAuth support, which was disabled due to missing
dependencies. Now these dependencies have been uploaded, and have had
their FFe :)

There's no upstream changelog; being SVN snapshots, a svn diff -r
3397:3514 is all that's available. You can see it at
https://josm.openstreetmap.de/log/josm/trunk?action=stop_on_copymode=stop_on_copyrev=3514stop_rev=3397limit=100verbose=on
, but I'm attaching it here.

The buildlog: I successfully built it on maverick, attaching buildlog.

It installs and works fine on Maverick: I tested it in a clean chroot,
using Xephyr on my host system, and setting DISPLAY inside the chroot.

[Bug 655580] [NEW] Add a quick controls for microphone (mute/unmute)

2010-10-06 Thread Adi Roiban
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: indicator-sound

Right now, the sound indicator allows only to mute/unmute or change the
speakers (output) level.

It would be great if it could also provide a quick control for the
microphone (input).

By doing so, users will have a quick feedback regarding the reason why
the sound input is not working... in most cases the input level being
muted or too low.

Thanks

[Bug 655579] [NEW] Evolution Calendar Window Jump!

2010-10-06 Thread PhuniX
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

I'm working with a Netbook 10,1 on Marverick desktop , but I had the
same problem with Lucid

When the Evolution window is maximized and I choose Calendar, The
windows become bigger and it will jump up and down. This make clicking
anything almost impossible, and the only way to unmaximize the window is
by holding Alt and drag the window with the mouse. When unmaximized,
there is no jumping.

If I return on Mail mode, the windows still jump. I must close Evolution and
re-open it.
The problem is only with calendar mode.

[Bug 655578] [NEW] frontend=gtk broken after upgrade to maverick

2010-10-06 Thread Alson van der Meulen
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: apt-listchanges

After upgrading from lucid to maverick, apt-listchanges no longer honors the
pager=gtk setting in /etc/apt/listchanges.conf (attached), at least when run
from update-manager (haven't tested plain aptitude yet, will do when next
update becomes available). It displays the changes in $PAGER, which means
update manager will wait until you click on details and exit less. The
dependencies for pager=gtk indicated in the man page are installed, and it used
to work in lucid:

[Bug 655569] Re: Epiphany stops refreshing once Googlemail is loaded

2010-10-06 Thread Michael
Three additional points.

1) The title bar is correctly updated when Epiphany stops refreshing.
2) This persists even if I disable the global menu. In this case menus are not
drawn either, although initially Compiz creates windows for them (the outlines
are visible)
3) Most importantly, this worked on Monday (Oct 4), so it must have been caused
by a recent update.

[Bug 655142] Re: attachment open program parameter disappear on restart

2010-10-06 Thread Alexander Gnodtke
Thank you for your bug report.

I have tried to reproduce it by trying the following on my 1004 system:
Installed liferea version:
1.6.2-1ubuntu6.1

I clicked on a blog entry with an attached link to an mp3 file
I right click on the file, select Open Enclosure... and enter totem
--enqueue
I close the application
Restart the application
Select tools-preferences-enclosures and the entry mp3 | totem --enqueue is
displayed correctly.

Could you please provide the lifrea version you are using and a more precise
description of how to reproduce the bug.
Thank you!

[Bug 648414] Re: upowerd assert failure: *** glibc detected *** /usr/lib/upower/upowerd: double free or corruption (out): 0x00d13ec0 ***

2010-10-06 Thread Martin Pitt
This can be reproduced by editing
/usr/share/polkit-1/actions/org.freedesktop.upower.policy and damaging
the suspend privilege name, e. g.

action id=org.freedesktop.upower.suspendx

then the polkit call will throw an error, which leads to a segfault:

$ sudo killall upowerd
$ sudo /usr/lib/upower/upowerd -v

In another terminal, do upower --dump, and see upowerd crash with

(upowerd:13852): GLib-WARNING **: GError set over the top of a previous GError
or uninitialized memory.
This indicates a bug in someone's code. You must ensure an error is NULL before
it's set.
The overwriting error message was: Remote Exception invoking

[Bug 635406] Re: armel build failure (no thumb support)

2010-10-06 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package moon - 2.3-0ubuntu4

---
moon (2.3-0ubuntu4) maverick; urgency=low

  * ARM development made possible by Genesi USA
  * add_arm_to_firefox-xpi.m4.patch:
+ For reasons best known to themselves, Mozilla don't define a
plugin ABI for several platforms, including ARM. This patch
tweaks the build system not to fail on ARM, by setting the
bogus Linux_unknownABI ABI on ARM, rather than bailing out.
  (LP: #635406)
  * realign_nocodec_API_with_codec_API.patch:

[Bug 655586] [NEW] gphpedit creates unwanted backups of edited files

2010-10-06 Thread Ivo Fokkema
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gphpedit

gPHPEdit creates unwanted backup files of changed files you save. There
seems to be no way disabling this feature, like it is possible in gEdit.
This is really quite annoying for me, as my projects now get polluted
with unwanted files that I need to remove every time I upload, backup or
commit.

Test:
Create new file, say: test.php
Open file with gPHPEdit
Change contents, save file, change some more, save file again
You will now find a test.php~ file in the directory

[Bug 625793] Re: Keyboard layout automatically changes + 100% CPU usage [updated]

2010-10-06 Thread Karl Lattimer
@everyone: Sorry for the lateness of the patch upload, had a little
trouble with my laptop/wifi but the patch has been uploaded to my PPA
and will be building shortly.

my ppa address is ppa:karl-qdh/ppa

It *seems* to work well, in that I haven't seen the bug reappear since I
started testing the patch. Please let me know if you can still trigger
it to happen.

[Bug 621837] Re: package apache2.2-common 2.2 .14-5ubuntu8.2 failed to install/upgrade: el subproc eso script post-installation instalado devolvió el c ódigo de salida de error 1

2010-10-06 Thread Jean-Baptiste Lallement
It makes sense is the user installed apache2 from the archive, tried to
tweak its configuration to install e.g a LAMP server by hand, then
upgrade.

You can reproduce in lucid with the following steps
$ apt-get install apache2=2.2.14-5ubuntu8 apache2-mpm-prefork=2.2.14-5ubuntu8
apache2.2-common=2.2.14-5ubuntu8 apache2.2-bin=2.2.14-5ubuntu8
$ a2dismod reqtimeout
$ mv /etc/apache2/mods-available/reqtimeout.* /tmp/
$ apt-get upgrade

You'll also notice the error in the logs .: 45: Can't open /etc/apache2/envvars
, there is a high probability that the apache2 configuration has been modified
manually and I think those errors are user errors.

Anyway the version I have verified that the version of apache2
2.2.14-5ubuntu8.3 in -proposed fixes the issue and the installation is
not failing anymore.

[Bug 646638] Re: Upgrading from UNE 10.04 to 10.10 (Unity) took about 6 hours - kernel problem with ahci mode?

2010-10-06 Thread Jean-Baptiste Lallement
Switching to AHCI on a SSD doesn't makes sense because one of the
feature of ahci is NCQ (Native Command Queuing) which optimize the way
the heads are moving on the hd plates. It (should) greatly increases the
performance of standard rotational drives but it has no bearing on SSDs.

I think that michael's and ara's issues are different here and we need
advice from a kernel expert.

[Bug 655603] [NEW] Boot fails on 10.04 with message fsck from util-linux-ng

2010-10-06 Thread James Dominy
Public bug reported:

I am running Ubuntu Server 10.04 as a guest OS in a VirtualBox VM. On my
last reboot (which was a hard reset on the physical machine) and without
having updated, upgraded, or in any way changed the configuration of the
guest OS, the system hung during boot displaying only

fsck from util-linux-ng 2.17.2
/dev/sda1: clean, 56845/8232960 files, 18238353/32926208 blocks

The boot process stalls completely. My ssh server does not start, and
the only possible interaction with the system appears to be inserting
the 'CTRL-ALT-DEL' from the VM host. Any press of ESC or a function key
switches between splash and plain console. And pressing
ALT-1,2,3,4,5,6,7 flips between VTs. The message is only present on
VT-7.

I've done a fair amount of research and come across the following:

Group 1:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/573356
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/plymouth/+bug/563916
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/plymouth/+bug/563916
http://ubuntu-ky.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1560151

Group 2:
http://superuser.com/questions/112848/ubuntu-nbr-karmic-boot-freezes-at-fsck-from-util-linux-ng-2-16

It appears that group 1 does not apply to me, as I've tried the following
remedies
1. Pressing 's', 'm', 'f' in all consoles (This especially seems to indicate
that the problem is elsewhere)
2. booting with a live cd, mounting my hdd and editing fstab and grub such that
I've no tried a combination of: noplymouth, nosplash, noquiet
3. I've fsck'd the partition from the liveCD it's clean
4. There is no difference in booting from in recovery or normal mode

Using the group 2 solution of booting with the kernel param 'nolapic'
had no effect either.

[Bug 588634] Re: mount, page allocation failure

2010-10-06 Thread Lee Jones
Bryan,

It seems that this bug has been hanging around for some time with no
real feedback from the original reporter. I think it's time to close
this bug. At least until we hear of any updates.
