[Bug 591119] Re: Telepathy-butterfly leaks memory
I have submitted this bug with upstream: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=31936 A patch that works around the problem is attached. Copying the bug details here: ___ Papyon 0.4.6 sends out requests to MSN's server that cause the server to return a 400 HTTP response (Bad Request). When such responses are received, telepathy-butterfly (through it's use of papyon) suffers from a huge memory leak. (about 200MB per hour on average) Detailes: In http://support.microsoft.com/kb/826437 you can see that the .Net framework 1.1 does not accept requests that contains : in the host name AND in the URL because of a bug. Papyon sends requests to port 80 to a URL of the form: http://65.54.48.32:80/gateway/gateway.dll?Action=pollSessionID=962514443.0 The MSN server then responds to these responses with a '400 Bad Request' response. These responses also result in a huge memory leak. Workaround: Since it is not necessary to send the port number with the URL when the port number is 80, I created a patch that avoids sending it in this case. This helps to avoid the 400 responses as well as the memory leak. This attached patch relates to the papyon/gnet/protocol directory Further details: OS - Ubuntu 10.04 64 bit with all latest updates. ** Bug watch added: freedesktop.org Bugzilla #31936 http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=31936 ** Patch added: papyon.patch https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/telepathy-butterfly/+bug/591119/+attachment/1745921/+files/papyon.patch -- Telepathy-butterfly leaks memory https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/591119 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 675307] Re: compiz can't load plugins and won't run in VirtualBox
Yougo: Unity (via Compiz) is rendering the interface in the same way that a 3D video game work: people measure games in the number of Frames Per Second (FPS) displayed. For each new frame the interface gets wiped and is redrawn from scratch, when this is done enough times per second it appears smooth. With OpenGL hardware GPU rendering it's possible to manage 60+ FPS per second. This is more complete FPS than the eyes can see, so the game, or Unity interface looks super-smooth. With OpenGL software rendering it is only possible to get 1-2 FPS which makes the interface jerky, unresponsive and uses up lots of battery and CPU. Without efficient and fast hardware OpenGL support it is better to swtich back to traditional 2D rendering (the GNOME Panel) which uses a different mechanism for drawing to the screen, where only what has moved is updated, not the whole screen. Doing software 2D rendering means that many of the effects that people have become used to are not possible. -- compiz can't load plugins and won't run in VirtualBox https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/675307 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 653633] Re: live-media=device is no more supported in casper
I have a couple of remarks to formulate about this bug. 1. I have been unable to find where variable LIVEMEDIA_TIMEOUT is set. If is is never set, it is useless. There are thus two solutions : either remove it, or add boot parameter ( for example live-media-timeout=xx ) to set it. 2. A user who specifies live_media boot parameter ( generally ) does not want to boot on another device. The use of this parameter did not work well because the script fell back in normal scan when the attempt with LIVEMEDIA failed. The race condition is generally not in favour of USB devices faced to other ones, due to latency. I prefer not to waste time in case of boot failure if there is a mistake in live-media parameter rather than a successful boot on a wrong device. So, I propose to make scan of LIVEMEDIA and normal scan mutually exclusive. In find_livefs the code could be something like this ( letting drop LIVEMEDIA_TIMEOUT ) : if [ ! -z ${LIVEMEDIA} ]; then # scan with LIVEMEDIA else # normal scan fi -- live-media=device is no more supported in casper https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/653633 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Otherwise, if GRUB_HIDDEN_TIMEOUT is 0, then use keystatus if available to check whether Shift is pressed. If it is, show the menu, otherwise boot immediately. If keystatus is not available, then fall back to a short delay interruptible with Escape. - Allow Shift to interrupt 'sleep --interruptible'. - Don't display introductory message about line editing unless we're actually offering a shell prompt. Don't clear the screen just before booting if we never drew the menu in the first place. - Remove some verbose messages printed before reading the configuration file. - Suppress progress messages as the kernel and initrd load for non-recovery kernel menu entries. - Change prepare_grub_to_access_device to handle filesystems loop-mounted on file images. - Ignore devices loop-mounted from files in 10_linux. - Show the boot menu if the previous boot failed, that is if it failed to get to the end of one of the normal runlevels. - Don't generate /boot/grub/device.map during grub-install or grub-mkconfig by default. - Adjust upgrade version checks for Ubuntu. - Don't display GRUB loading unless Shift is held down. - Adjust versions of grub-doc and grub-legacy-doc conflicts to tolerate our backport of the grub-doc split. - Fix LVM/RAID probing in the absence of /boot/grub/device.map. - Look for .mo files in /usr/share/locale-langpack as well, in preference. - Make sure GRUB_TIMEOUT isn't quoted unnecessarily. - Probe all devices in 'grub-probe --target=drive' if /boot/grub/device.map is missing. - Build-depend on qemu-kvm rather than qemu-system for grub-pc tests. - Use qemu rather than qemu-system-i386. - Program vesafb on BIOS systems rather than efifb. - Add a grub-rescue-efi-amd64 package containing a rescue CD-ROM image for EFI-AMD64. - On Wubi, don't ask for an install device, but just update wubildr using the diverted grub-install. - When embedding the core image in a post-MBR gap, check for and avoid sectors matching any of a list of known signatures. - Disable video_bochs and video_cirrus on PC BIOS systems, as probing PCI space seems to break on some systems. - Downgrade ACPI shutdown failed error to a debug message, since it can cause spurious test failures. * Put second and subsequent Linux menu entries in a submenu (LP: #540452). * Don't check the device abstraction before probing all devices, and restore the normal reinitialisation of LVM and RAID in grub-probe; this broke RAID probing when a device map exists (LP: #681535). grub2 (1.99~20101126-1) experimental; urgency=low * New Bazaar snapshot (mipsel build fix, LVM-on-RAID probing fix). * Fix comma-separation in handling of grub-pc/install_devices. -- Colin Watson cjwat...@ubuntu.com Fri, 26 Nov 2010 14:34:13 + ** Changed in: grub2 (Ubuntu) Status: Fix Committed = Fix Released -- Auto-detection of a filesystem of /dev/md0 failed. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/681535 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 655707] Re: Firefox crashes opening pages that use webfonts
The malformed font has been removed from the Google page, but it does exist in the test case.
