[Bug 716462] Re: Unity is not restored on unity/compiz crash

2011-02-17 Thread Didier Roche
It will be restored if Compiz is registering properly with the session.
This doesn't address the run/crash/run/crash though, just for unexpected
crash. We can maybe work something out for the former case after feature
freeze.

[Bug 696532] Re: LibreOffice - smoketest disabled for the i386 build, fails on the buildds

2011-02-17 Thread Björn Michaelsen
I had smoketests failing on amd64 too on a local build. Well, the
smoketest was fine, but the JVM crashed right after successfully
finishing the smoketest. That failure mysteriously went away without any
relevant changes. I have not yet reenabled the smoketest on i386, but
will do soon to check, if it still fails on buildd.

No idea about the root cause as of yet.

This is a crash report from four months ago. I have no memory of it and
no idea whether it's reproducible. If apport should not have suggested
that I submit it, I suggest making that change in apport.

It is EXACTLY same here.

By the way i'm currently using LXDE because
of the bug [Bug 526572] and unable to use KDE or Gnome. This emacs bug
does not reproduce itself
under Gnome or KDE as far as i see.

I'm also seeing this error, and like the others have said, it all worked
fine until a recent update. I'm running Lubuntu (10.10). The font
workaround also works for me, though it sure is a nuisance. Hope it gets

2011-02-17 Thread TARUN KUMAR MALL

And if a package is waiting for sponsorship than why double our work :)
There are many packages that needs update. Better pack them.
Thank You :)

2011-02-17 Thread bananenkasper
Hello Christopher,

I don't remember what file that was I was working on.
I'm afraid I cannot help on this bug any further, since I stopped working on
these Samba shares. I was awful anyways ;)

2011/2/16 Christopher M. Penalver cp9...@albany.edu

bananenkasper, thank you for taking the time to report this bug and
helping to make Ubuntu better. We'd like to figure out what's causing
this bug for you, but we haven't heard back from you in a while. Please
 answer these questions:

 * Is this reproducible?
 * If so, what specific steps should we take to recreate this bug?
 * Could you please attach the file you have open when this crash occurs?
 * Does this occur for you with LibreOffice?

 sudo add-apt-repository ppa:libreoffice/ppa sudo apt-get update

[Bug 59417] Re: Scroll lock does not work in X

2011-02-17 Thread Sigve Indregard
Go ahead and close it, Bryce. I can't verify the bug anymore, as the
backlit keyboard this bug originally messed up is long gone.

However: Your comments mention other reasons to close the bug. Still,
the original bug (not the comments' bugs) remains, as far as I am able
to tell.

I would still go for closing this one and instead wait for a new report
from a new user with a similar keyboard.

Re: [Compiz] [Bug 720348] [NEW] unity-window-decorator: window button highlight stuck on wrong window

2011-02-17 Thread Sam SmSpillaz Spilsbury
Hi,

So I can reproduce this as well on nouveau, but I am not sure if it is
a bug in the mesa stack where damage doesn't work unless the pixmap
size changes. Can someone try to reproduce this on the binary nvidia
driver?

On Thu, Feb 17, 2011 at 4:57 AM, Hernando Torque
720...@bugs.launchpad.net wrote:
 Public bug reported:

 Binary package hint: compiz

 To reproduce:

1.) Start an Ubuntu Classic session (with Compiz enabled, obviously)
 2.) Maximize any window
 3.) Maximize a second window
 4.) Minimize the second window

= the minimize button of the first window stays highlighted.

I have seen this on different occasions and also with the
restore/unmaximize button, but I've not yet found out how to reproduce
 those cases.

This might only be an issue on 32-bit systems.

[Bug 539467] Re: SATA link power management causes disk errors and corruption

2011-02-17 Thread Stefan Bader
As the pm-utils have the feature disabled, the test case would be:

ls -la /sys/block/sd?/device

Note the link points to h:b:d:l, where h is the host number. Then change
into

cd /sys/class/scsi_host/host?/

in there is a link_power_management_policy into which (as root)
min_power and max_performace can be written. The latter should be
there by default. So one would twiddle from max_performance to min_power
and back. Then do some reading operations involving the disk. In my case
I seem to get

ata3: exception Emask 0x10 SAct 0x0 SErr 0x5 action 0xe frozen
[46446.498522] ata3: irq_stat 0x0040, PHY RDY changed

[46447.242623] ata3: EH complete

once in dmesg and without any visible effects on the reading operations.
In the bad case there would be hard errors (involving timeouts),
repeating and with errors reported to the reading operation.

[Bug 561802] Re: [i915] blank screen on Latitude E6410 (NOT E6510)

2011-02-17 Thread Alfe
Andy, I tested the kernel located at
http://people.canonical.com/~apw/lp561802-natty/ on my Dell Latitude
E6510, 2GB, 64bit, Intel graphics. My distribution is Ubuntu 10.10.

First: Your version seems to be working fine. No issues whatsoever up to
now. I'm booting and using it with an external second monitor attached
via the display port (resolution: 1600x1200). I will add another report
here in some minutes regarding a boot without a second monitor.

I also tested all other kernel versions discussed here which were coming
as a .deb package ready for download (i. e. I did not test all patch
versions). Before the kernel pointed to by you I was using a .35
kernel. With 2.6.38-997.201102020913 and 2.6.38-997.201102081238 I had
stability issues after some minutes (without a second monitor after some
hours): X just crashed and I had to relogin. I was under the impression
that it had trouble handling X sessions with a lot of stuff going on,
maybe memory leaks.

No such issues with the
2.6.38-4-generic_2.6.38-4.31~lp561802v201102162013 now. I tried to
crash it by opening about a hundred windows, using fancy Compiz
extensively, running flash applications, Youtube videos, 3D applications
etc. but to no avail :) Uptime now is 44 minutes and everything seems
to be just fine.

Also suspend/resume worked without issues. I did not test hibernate (to
disk).

I will check booting without a second monitor now, just to make sure,
and report back here.

Alfe

[Bug 561802] Re: [i915] blank screen on Latitude E6410 (NOT E6510)

2011-02-17 Thread Alfe
Andy,

I rebooted without a second monitor and redid my tests (quickly). No
problem found. I attached the second monitor on the fly. Detection
worked fine, no issues to report.

What I like most is that I'm now able to suspend/resume the laptop.

Thanks a lot for your effort!

Alfe

[Bug 715498] Re: Sync sbcl 1:1.0.45.0-1 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

2011-02-17 Thread Nikodemus Siivola
Eh, I didn't notice at first, but this is actually fixed in SBCL
1.0.45.9 in the upstream -- without --no-as-needed.

...though I maintain that for SBCL --no-as-needed is actually exactly
the right thing. If we specify linking against library, we do that
because we want dlsym() to be able to find the symbols from that at
runtime.
