[Bug 748739] Re: no config tool currently provided for Ubuntu Unity Plugin
The intent here, (of this bug), was to see if there was to be a simple way provided to adjust only the available unity plugin settings and possibly some general settings like desktop size (previously available in gnome-panels workspace switcher. While post 14 has put a more complete perspective on this, I still believe one should be, unless by release there isn't anything of any significance remaining, at least in regards to user experience. So in that light the 2 setting's that could be considered a positive for unity and user experience are the launcher mode and launcher/icon size. If either or both of those remain adjustable then I'm sorry that I can't see the reasoning for not wanting to make this a visible feature of unity. While obviously ccsm , gconf-editor, ect are available to users, in this limited instance, (unity plugin), they are less than ideal for the general user, many of which will not even know about. (and there are plugins in ccsm that are quite likely to create issues on their own if enabled and or mis-configured -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/748739 Title: no config tool currently provided for Ubuntu Unity Plugin -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

The other bug (I don't have the bug # here) is fixed as much as is possible; you do have to set some extra options to prevent bzr-svn from accessing the repository root that should be documented there. [Bug 750730] [NEW] [Lenovo T410] Black bar displayed on some resolutions
Public bug reported: When switching to a resolution below the max resolution of 1280 x 800, there is a black bar displayed on the left hand side of the monitor. In addition, switching back to the max resolution removes the black bar, but the screen is not refreshed properly when the previous resolution was set at the lowest possible . A user would have to manually move an application around the screen to force the screen to redraw. [Bug 750731] [NEW] cannot arrange dual head displays correctly in unity
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: unity I have a Radeon HD 4670 connected to two Dell 20" flat panels. When running Unity on Natty in non-mirror mode, I do get two independent screens but they are not in the right order, elements are not in the right place, and the Monitors system setting cannot be used to set things right. Here are some problems: * Initial screen configuration had the two monitors reversed, such that when I moved the cursor off the left side of the left screen, it wrapped around to the right edge of the right screen. * When I used the Monitor settings to swap the screens left and right, the cursor wrapped correctly, however the dock is now on the left edge of the right screen (i.e. in the middle of the apparent full desktop). * The Ubuntu menu is also on the left edge of the right screen. * The notification applets are duplicated, showing up on the right edge of both the left and right screens. * The application menu is against the left edge of the left screen. There seems to be no way to configure the layout the way it should be: with cursor wrapping correctly, Ubuntu menu and dock on left side of left screen, application menu next to that, and notification applets only on the right edge of the left screen. In fact it would be ideal to not even have a menu bar on the right screen. This is how dual-head works in classic Desktop. ** Affects: unity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/750731 Title: cannot arrange dual head displays correctly in unity -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 750728] [NEW] Unity dock does not obey compiz window rules plugin
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: unity I have a window which is set by window rules to skip taskbar and be unclosable. To be precise, I have an instance of the terminal emulator terminator as part of my desktop background (i.e. I made it unclosable, skip taskbar, unminimizable, unmaximizable, fixed size, fixed placement, unmovable, sticky, undecorated) I have other windows of the same class that should be picked up by the taskbar. If I open an ordinary terminator window, the dock says there are two terminators, and allows me to close my (supposedly uncloable) background terminator. If I close the normal window, it still says there is one terminator open, which is the background terminator it is not supposed to see, as you can confirm by trying to close it. You will also get the same issue if you try to make a launcher on the unity dock for terminator. This bug did not exist in gnome-panel - it also doesn't appear in cairo-dock. So I presume that unity's taskbar has something wrong with it. To reproduce: Install terminator from the repository. Set Skip Taskbar and nonclosable in Window Rules to role=testing. Run 'terminator --role=testing' (My Alt-F2 refuses to run this; you may need to use a terminal to run the command) Open another terminator instance without the --role=testing switch, and/or try to make terminator a launcher. You will observe the dock misbehaving. ** Affects: unity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/750728 Title: Unity dock does not obey compiz window rules plugin -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 635893] Re: update-apt-xapian-index crashed with OverflowError in index()
Hmm, I doubt if my report added anything useful to this bug's solution, so I'm sorry to have taken system and/or people cycles in marking it as a duplicate. I do see that there are many more duplicates, so I am not alone! I'm not very adept at bug submission, but as I have decided to trial natty beta1, I thought I should try it. I may be raving, but it seemed to me that the system suggested the package name was update-apt-xapian- index (which does not exist by that name?) whereas the main report shows it to be apt-xapian-index. My point is that perhaps the bug reporting software and launchpad system needs a bit more work to help bug-reporting-novices to avoid so many duplicates. I've actually been Linuxing (Fedora/CentOS, more recently Ubuntu) for nearly a decade now, but have not done much bug reporting at all. Notice from the command line that I'm trying to check out /repos/hayden/ekiden-svn/trunk. I do have permissions to that directory, and can log into the web server and click around and view files in that directory. I just don't have permissions to the root folder of the repo (and adding permissions to the root folder of the repo fixes this issue). In SVN, I can successfully check out just the repository I want, even though I don't have read permissions to the root directory. The condition that's producing this result is: r= (namenode->divert->useinstead && namenode->divert->pkgset != pkg->set) ? namenode->divert->useinstead : namenode; I tried adding the following to the namenodetouse() function in help.c: printf("divert_useinstead=%s, divert_pkgset=%s, pkgset=%s, namenode=%s, using=%s\n",namenode->divert->useinstead,namenode->divert->pkgset,pkg->set,namenode,r); That would have given me more details on exactly what's going on but dpkg doesn't seem to build today because of another unrelated issue: https://launchpad.net/~stgraber/+archive/foundation- build/+buildjob/2427483 >From the debug output we get, the "useinstead" is set properly, so the issue is with the pkgset part of that check. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/745011 Title: "info: unrecognized option '--convert-db'" on upgrade -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 750592] Re: [Lenovo W510] SD card fails to mount automatically
Is the issue specific to the sd card being used? (that is, the problem happens with other sd cards, or with just only with Kingston 2GB MicroSD Flash Card) Would be good to test also with maverick kernel from bug 730820 just as a sanity check, but the fix there is on natty kernel checking the source, so I expect this to be a new issue. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/750592 Title: [Lenovo W510] SD card fails to mount automatically -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
