[Bug 706988] Re: Major Bug in MySQL 5.1.49 up to 5.1.52

2011-05-11 Thread Koopee
Upgraded to 11.04, where mysql version changed to 5.1.54. Works for now.

Perhaps you should consider upgrading mysql server in maverick
repositories. I think this is quite a nasty bug. It had been affecting
me and my application for months and took quite a few days to track
down.

[Bug 776936] Re: Running KVM guest causes kernel panic on host

2011-05-11 Thread SergeiFranco
Today I noticed that although I removed the membaloon it didn't stick (possibly
due to panic not syncing the file).
I removed once again membaloon and started the guest with little bit better
results.
The system does not freeze immediately, but it leaves a lot of oopses in the
syslog/dmesg.
I am attaching these oopses.

The highlight of the oopses is BUG: unable to handle kernel paging
request at.

I am going to try kvm in NAT mode (btw how do I do that?) and see if
this is happening still.

[Bug 191251] Re: [needs-packaging] php5-embed

2011-05-11 Thread Kari Asikainen
Stumbled on this one today when a developer requested PHP::Interpreter
install to Perl to do testing if php functions can be called from Perl
and found out that to do this in Debian I have to create custom
php5-package. And for reasons that are beyond my understanding. In
programming languages (as well as in text editors etc.) you should not
limit the users choice, even if you think those choices are wrong.

[Bug 776936] Re: Running KVM guest causes kernel panic on host

2011-05-11 Thread SergeiFranco
In nat mode it does not panic.

Having virtual machine in nat mode is piss poor, especially when the
network performance in nat mode is very unreliable (perhaps issue with
MTU? apt-get install gets stuck on 0% [Waiting for headers], wget
google.com also hangs, while I can ping everything fine), another issue
is I have to port forward and deal will all associated nightmare. I am
seriously considering moving to physical box, or ditch ubuntu, install
debian and go with xen...

I need this box in bridge mode (it is a virtual server after all).

[Bug 388483] Re: smbd panic action with yield_connection name=0x0

2011-05-11 Thread Matthew Morgan
I'm having this bug in Lucid Server x86_64. The only things I've done
in smb.conf that might be considered different are the socket options
line (which I've never heard anyone say causes crashes), and the few
lines that kill print support. I don't have CUPS installed on this
server and I was getting strange hangs during file transfers to windows
machines accompanied by CUPS connection timeout messages in the client
logs. Disabling printing fixed that part.

Everything is up to date except the kernel which is 2.6.32-28-server
#55-Ubuntu SMP Mon Jan 10 23:57:16 UTC 2011 x86_64 GNU/Linux. If you
guys think updating the kernel will fix it then I will; I just hadn't
bothered to take the server down for a kernel upgrade when I didn't
think it had much to do with it.

#
# Sample configuration file for the Samba suite for Debian GNU/Linux.
#
#
# This is the main Samba configuration file. You should read the
# smb.conf(5) manual page in order to understand the options listed
# here. Samba has a huge number of configurable options most of which
# are not shown in this example
#
# Some options that are often worth tuning have been included as
# commented-out examples in this file.
# - When such options are commented with ;, the proposed setting
#differs from the default Samba behaviour
# - When commented with #, the proposed setting is the default
#behaviour of Samba but the option is considered important
#enough to be mentioned here
#
# NOTE: Whenever you modify this file you should run the command
# testparm to check that you have not made any basic syntactic
# errors.
# A well-established practice is to name the original file
# smb.conf.master and create the real config file with
# testparm -s smb.conf.master smb.conf
# This minimizes the size of the really used smb.conf file
# which, according to the Samba Team, impacts performance
# However, use this with caution if your smb.conf file contains nested
# include statements. See Debian bug #483187 for a case
# where using a master file is not a good idea.

[Bug 774975] Re: Unable to connect to my vpn

2011-05-11 Thread Tom
adding

policy at_console=true
allow own=org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.openvpn/
allow
send_destination=org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.openvpn/
/policy

to
/etc/dbus-1/system.d/nm-openvpn-service.conf

fixes it , but I assume there is security related problem with this
setup .

[Bug 588523] Re: Autofs5 fails on cascading/hierarchical mounts

2011-05-11 Thread Brice Arnould
I Think it has been fixed in autofs5.0.5 (natty) by this patch :
http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/storage/autofs/autofs.git;a=commitdiff;h=6c21fce31efe5206355af2e03422708cff29d501

Could somebody test it ?

[Bug 731976] Re: SAMBA - Can't access Windows 7 computer via SAMBA

2011-05-11 Thread Michael Zverina
I actually managed to access the 'User home folder' in 64bit 7 ultimate,
using both Ubunutu 10.10 and 11.04 in x32.

The trick is to go there via nautilus/file/connectToServer/windosShare.
Add then the IP of win7 machine to field Server. Add win7user(which is set up
on 7machine) to field User. Add win7user password to password.
DO NOT FILL FIELD FOLDER.
Push connect an thats it. i see folders like admin, c, print, public, users.

But from there on it becomes strange. win7 machine grants only access to public
and win7user's HOME folder.
(win/user has admin prev.)
So you won't be able to access any drives, print, and further.
Typycally these inaccessible folders do have a $ sign at the end of their name.

Seems to me it behaves like some strange home-folder-clusterserver...

Configuration of my 64bit win7ultimate Machine
Only 1 User with admin rights
windows firewall, default settings
7x64 sp1 installed

Access via nautilus/Network is NOT - repeat - NOT possible.

feedback n questions welcome.

Re: [Bug 731976] Re: SAMBA - Can't access Windows 7 computer via SAMBA

2011-05-11 Thread André Madureira
I had a similar problem... But mine I solved by reinstalling Windows...
So, this bug might be in Windows network configuration file...
Strangely, I could access the problematic PC with my Windows without
problem... So, this configuration in Windows only affects Linux SAMBA
access to it...

In my opinion, like Bill Gates will probably do nothing to solve this
issue, Linux programmers should discover the issue and make a solution
in Linux to it (if this is possible)...

[Bug 657972] Re: Panic or segfault in Samba

2011-05-11 Thread Matthew Morgan
I'm having this error, too. Most of mine contained a backtrace nearly
identical to Edson Manners', but a few had the executable could not be
found message. I think this might be a duplicate of
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/+bug/388483

This bug is definitely still around. The upstream samba bug report
referenced in the above-mentioned possible duplicate hasn't had any
activity since the bug was submitted.

If anyone working on this bug needs any more information at all I'd be
glad to submit what I can.

Are all those 0x0 values memory addresses?

[Bug 780921] [NEW] Tiling - dragging a window to the left / right border does not work properly in multi head configurations

2011-05-11 Thread Anders Wallenquist
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: unity

The tiling utility - dragging a window to the left or right border of
the current screen will auto tile the window to that side of screen. In
a multi head configuration with several monitors this behaviour is not
defined by monitor. Dragging a window to the right border of the left
monitor will not trigger the auto tile, not until the window are
dragged to the right border of the rightmost monitor the window is tiled
and when the window are moved back to the left monitor the vertical
maximize and the proper width is forgotten. A better behaviour would be
to trigger the auto tile at the border of the monitor (windows are
usually placed in relation to the monitor, not the screen). If the
dragging not stops when the yellow square from auto tile shows the
window are moved to the next monitor as usually.

The auto tile are a fast and convenient method to split a monitor in
two, working with two equally sized windows. In configurations with for
example two monitors the left and right tiled window are a fourth width
and not placed side by side and with a wide gap in the middle. Even if
the two monitors would be seamlessly assembled without any frame or
space between the auto tile would be of any practical use.

[Bug 780924] [NEW] Personally added icons in Launcher not always repeatable at startup

2011-05-11 Thread John Hagerman
Public bug reported:

A number of icons have been dragged to Launcher from Applications and
partially re-ordered to match usage. About half the time at startup,
restart or otherwise, some of the added icons do not appear and those
which do are re-ordered. The same problem seems to plague Weather-
Indicator, although the appearances do not necessarily happen
concurrently. Actually, Weather-Indicator also sometimes just disappears
mid-session, so this may be an entirely different bug!

[Bug 780923] [NEW] After upgrading 10.10 to 11.04 resume from hibernate somehow breaks the graphics

2011-05-11 Thread v.
Public bug reported:

System: Ubuntu netbook edition on Dell Inspiron mini 10v
1. Upgraded from 10.10 to 11.04 (previously from 10.04 to 10.10, and 10.04 was
the initial setup)
2. Rebooted
3. I always use hibernate when turning the power off
4. Each time I resume from hibernate, graphics appear broken. While resuming I
can't see ubuntu logo. Finally, the computer appears resumed. At the rightmost
part of the screen I can partially see the running application, but no
interaction is possible. Tried ctrl-alt-f keys, but couldn't see the terminal.
Tried to login and reboot without seeing what I type - no success.

I have encountered the same problem.

When I run /usr/lib/libgconf2-4/gconf-sanity-check-2 from a terminal,
the following message appeared:

Please contact your system administrator to resolve the follwing problem:
Could not open or create the file (null); this indicates that there may be a
problem with your configuration, as many programs will need to create files in
your home directory. The error was Failed to create file

Does anyone have an idea to deal with this problem?

[Bug 780932] [NEW] libreoffice printing ignores paper feeder setting

2011-05-11 Thread AZ
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: libreoffice

When trying to print an A3 opendocument text file, I need the printer to
switch to another paper feeder. Though setting the paper format to
letter or anything supported by the default paper feeder or changing
page orientation works fine, switching the paper feeder gets partly
ignored, that is when I close and reopen the printer settings dialog it
just disappeared and the printer uses the other paper feed but only
prints A4 on A3.

[Bug 769082] Re: Files Folders - Favorites opens FTP in browser instead of Nautilus

2011-05-11 Thread Martinique
OK, so apparently desktop\gnome\url-handlers\ftp in my gconf is just a
leftover from Maverick and no longer works (in reply to #5).

Since this affects not only Unity but Gnome too, shouldn't this bug be
filed against a package package other than unity in order to get proper
attention?

[Bug 555828] Re: Regression: flag -pg on /usr/src/$(uname -r)/Makefile prevents acerhk-source package from compiling. Computer becomes unusable because there is no equivalent to acerhk in the kernel

2011-05-11 Thread Jacek Chwastek
To the best of my knowledge of acerhk sending echo 1 to one of the leds
only changes state of the led (for examle if I send it to mailled in my
Aspire 3690 led will light up but mail client will not start or when I
do it for wireless led my connection stays active despite led being
off). Switching state of wireless/bluetooth is generally done by
pressing correct key or key combination, at least it seems so by cursory
look on acerhk.c code. It's known for the fact that acerhk was designed
to replicate Windows driver for Acer hotkeys as closely as possible.

[Bug 780935] [NEW] ps2pdf mangles document (breaks font)

2011-05-11 Thread AZ
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ghostscript

There is trouble trying to print [1].
Printing the postscript works fine as well as converting it to pdf using ps2pdf
and then print the pdf file using evince.
Though, trying to print the pdf using the lp command line tool renders the
printed document unreadable as almost all characters are missing in the output.
Using gv to compare the postscript and the pdf document it appears the font
lost all it anti-aliasing effects and is hardly readable. Converting the pdf
using convert renders the image unreadble (blurred even at 1200 dpi), importing
and printing using gimp renders the image looking fine.

2011-05-11 Thread Raphaël Hertzog
The root problem is that a dpkg invocation is failing because it can't
get the lock.

dpkg: status database area is locked by another process

And apt then tries to configure the package that has not been unpacked
in this previous invocation.

Were you using dpkg in parallel to update-manager?

I'm not sure how else it could have happened...
