[Bug 791812] [NEW] USC shows Stellarium as an add-on for Celestia

2011-06-02 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: celestia

celestia-gnome 1.6.0+dfsg-2, Ubuntu 11.04

1. Navigate to the screen for Celestia (Glut) or Celestia (Gnome) in
Ubuntu Software Center.

What you see: A checkbox offering Stellarium as an add-on to Celestia.
What you should see: No such checkbox.

This is because the control files for both celestia packages contain the
line Suggests: stellarium. Suggests: is intended to be used to
declare that one package may be more useful with one or more others.
http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-relationships.html But this
does not seem to be true for Celestia: installing Stellarium does not
make Celestia more useful. Therefore, the Suggests: stellarium line
should be removed.

[Bug 575812] Re: revtex4-1 should be upgraded to bugfix release on 3/15/2010

2011-06-02 Thread der_vegi
The natbib problem I had was not related to bug 578693. Natbib in Natty
works together with the Revtex-version that comes with Natty. But when I
install the .deb file and use natbib, it requests a newer version of
natbib as mentioned in the Debian bug. Manually installing the newest
natbib solved my problem.

Btw: Shouldn't this bug be related to texlive-publishers instead of
texlive-extra?

Re: [Bug 791325] Re: NVIDIA disappearing title bar on Ubuntu 11.04

2011-06-02 Thread Ilan Tal
Hi Fabio,
Personally I am quite convinced that the problem is with the nvidia. Since I
am developing the application, I will quite frequently have problems with
NetBeans under the debugger. While in the debugger when I close a window
with clinical data, suddenly ALL windows, including even NetBeans, lose
their title bar. This can happen 10 times/day, which is quite annoying.

This never happened before 11.04. I discovered it initially while using
Fiji, but it happens in NetBeans where I am not using Fiji. The initial fix
which is included in the FAQ inside Fiji, has a fix for nvidia. While this
helps, it doesn't solve the problem. It is totally hopeless without the fix,
but the fix isn't nearly 100%. You can look at the link inside Fiji FAQ and
see where someone else had the problem long ago and how they fixed it.

It is almost certainly a nvidia problem, which Java somehow knows how to
trigger. Java in itself couldn't be so clever as to know how to remove the
title bar from all windows, but it could certainly somehow trigger something
inside nvidia.

It seems that the nvidia driver before 11.04 wasn't sensitive to the unknown
Java trigger.

Ilan

[Bug 791819] [NEW] library access to wrap-and-sort functionality

2011-06-02 Thread Jelmer Vernooij
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ubuntu-dev-tools

the various Bazaar plugins have a script which can automatically update
dependencies in debian/control based on the information found in the
source tree. It does this using python-debian, which doesn't format
fields in the same way as wrap-and-sort, causing unnecessary deltas.

It would be neat if wrap-and-sort could be used as a Python module.

[Bug 791596] Re: Odd Pointer Behavior After Recent Xserver SRU in Natty

2011-06-02 Thread Chris Halse Rogers
Thank you for that. I've looked at the patch in question
(503_fix_masked_transformed_valuators), and it looks plausible that
there's a change in behaviour, although I don't see why it would only
manifest after a few minutes' uptime.

It appears that we should revert that patch pending further
investigation.

[Bug 790677] Re: Inkscape freezes when pulling out retracted node handle

2011-06-02 Thread Cornelius Sicker
Hi Alex,

I followed your instructions to enable the debugging symbols and generate the
backtrace. You find it attached.
Note that this is the same computer as where the apport information was
gathered (32bit), but not the same where I first noticed the bug (64bit),
though the symptoms are the same.

On the side issue of installing ubuntu-desktop alongside Xfce:
This gives me conflicts when running sudo aptitude install ubuntu-desktop
with the following suggestion:
Remove the following packages:
1) libsdl1.2debian-alsa
2) xfce4-notifyd
3) xubuntu-desktop
Since I don't want to break Xfce, I'll refrain from this.

Hope, that the backtrace will give some insights.

Interesting...

Do you use the same language when you login as the new user?
Do you have the default theme, or do you have a custom theme?
Have you removed any indicator applets from your Gnome panel?

If I think of anything else that could be different that could impact
it, I'll update the bug.

Thanks.

[Bug 784379] Re: Oxygen-gtk style fails to load with Emacs

2011-06-02 Thread Migrus
This problem causes menus to not show the current selection. It is to me
surprisingly annoying to select an entry without the normal highlight
of the menu items. To me it was more than just the looks.

The upstream patch fixes the problem for me. It applied cleanly to
current (k)ubuntu .deb source.

[Bug 727143] Re: unity-window-decorator crashes with SIGSEGV when closing Java windows

2011-06-02 Thread Achim
Hi Sam,
this are my steps to reproduce the problem from duplicate Bug #741508

Steps to reproduce the problem:

1. start Scilab (in my case 5.3 from the official website)
2. launch Xcos [Menu](Applications→Xcos)
3. use Xcos (drag an item from the palette browser to the Xcos window right
click on the item and open Block parameters…
close the dialog again. The window decorator should have been crashed now)

[Bug 791822] [NEW] Certificate date format ambiguous and should be in ISO 8601

2011-06-02 Thread Lars Noodén
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: unity

The date format used in the Certificate dialog is ambiguous and
confusing. Another, unambiguous format should be used so that which
part is the day and which part is the year are clear. For example.
08/05/2010 could be May 8th or August 5th depending on the
interpretation. Better to have it spelled out 05 Aug 2010 or 08 May

Chris - sshd kept working because it re-execs itself when doing auth.
This means it got the new libpam.so and was able to dlopen pam_env.so

[Bug 791741] Re: 'arduino' package not installable because of libtxrx-java

2011-06-02 Thread Scott Howard
Thanks for the report.

Ubuntu 6.10 was the last officially supported PowerPC version of Ubuntu. I
don't know what's up with the unofficial Ubuntu PPC builds, but Debian's works
fine. If you want to grab a working package, you can take Debian's from:
http://packages.debian.org/sid/powerpc/librxtx-java/download

and then do $ dpkg -i librxtx-java_2.2pre2-8_powerpc.deb in the
directory you downloaded it to. You should be able to install arduino
after doing that.

[Bug 42149] Re: USB devices are not powered off at shutdown

2011-06-02 Thread madbiologist
@Don - Sorry for the late reply. Unfortunately I have no knowledge of
how to patch the kernel. Perhaps someone else can help you, otherwise
Seth's comment #41 sounds promising. You can monitor www.kernel.org for
the release of the 2.6.38.8 kernel, and then after that monitor
http://people.canonical.com/~ubuntu-archive/pending-sru.html for the
proposed Ubuntu package of the new kernel. For information on how to
enable Ubuntu-proposed (so that you can test before it is released to
updates) see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed

[Bug 788537] Re: Evolution dies on startup pthread

2011-06-02 Thread Pedro Villavicencio
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or
challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these
instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can
be dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable
apport in /etc/default/apport and restart.

Now open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the
crash report you wish to submit.
If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with
'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is
the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed
to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug
/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'.

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more
efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

worked pretty well. But it started to behave weird after restarts. The
behaviour is as follows:

On cold boot touch never works. But once going to Windows 7 and coming
back after a warm boot, the touch works perfectly. From now, it works
until there are no cold boots. Once cold boot happens into Ubuntu, touch
stops working. This behaviour has been consistent. I tried to put
usbhid.quirks with vendorid : productid: 0x40 as mentioned here

[Bug 778580] Re: email screen flashes on off when typing in address

2011-06-02 Thread Pedro Villavicencio
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. Unfortunately, we can't fix it because your description didn't include
enough information. You may find it helpful to read How to report bugs
effectively http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be
grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.
We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures.
At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport, either via the
appropriate application's Help - Report a Problem menu or using
'ubuntu-bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more
about this functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

I fixed this problem by making the following changes to /usr/bin/distcc-
pump:

 include_server=''

 include_server='/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.7/include_server/include_server.py'

[Bug 790760] Re: linaro-hwpack-create fails with GPG errors from APT

2011-06-02 Thread Guilherme Salgado
Running on my Maverick install (with the same l-i-t version), I also
don't get a etc/apt/trusted.gpg.d/ created in the temp dir used by
linaro-hwpack-create, but still runs to completion and doesn't complain
about that. Maybe this is because of some apt config or something
specific to Oneiric's apt?

[Bug 784937] Re: /mnt not mounted, swap not used, disk is xvde

2011-06-02 Thread Scott Moser
Just some more data, collected from oneiric builds of 20110601 (Ubuntu
2.6.39-3.10-virtual 2.6.39)

i386-t1.micro:
 block-device-mapping: {'ami': '/dev/sda1', 'ephemeral0': '/dev/sdb', 'root':
'/dev/sda1'}
 /proc/partitions: xvde1

i386-m1.small-ebs:
 block-device-mapping: {'ami': '/dev/sda1', 'ephemeral0': '/dev/sda2', 'root':
'/dev/sda1', 'swap': 'sda3'}
 /proc/partitions: xvde1 xvde2 xvde3

i386-m1.small-instance:
 block-device-mapping: {'ami': 'sda1', 'ephemeral0': 'sda2', 'root':
'/dev/sda1', 'swap': 'sda3'}
 /proc/partitions: xvde1 xvde2 xvde3

amd64-m1.large-ebs:
 block-device-mapping: {'ami': '/dev/sda1', 'ephemeral0': '/dev/sdb', 'root':
'/dev/sda1'}
 /proc/partitions: xvde1 xvdf

amd64-m1.large-instance:
 block-device-mapping: {'ami': 'sda1', 'ephemeral0': 'sdb', 'ephemeral1':
'sdc', 'root': '/dev/sda1'}
 /proc/partitions: xvde1 xvdf xvdg

So, it looks like basically the kernel is starting its enumerating with xvde.
