[Bug 791812] [NEW] USC shows Stellarium as an add-on for Celestia
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: celestia celestia-gnome 1.6.0+dfsg-2, Ubuntu 11.04 1. Navigate to the screen for Celestia (Glut) or Celestia (Gnome) in Ubuntu Software Center. What you see: A checkbox offering Stellarium as an add-on to Celestia. What you should see: No such checkbox. This is because the control files for both celestia packages contain the line Suggests: stellarium. Suggests: is intended to be used to declare that one package may be more useful with one or more others. http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-relationships.html But this does not seem to be true for Celestia: installing Stellarium does not make Celestia more useful. Re: [Bug 791325] Re: NVIDIA disappearing title bar on Ubuntu 11.04
Hi Fabio, Personally I am quite convinced that the problem is with the nvidia. Since I am developing the application, I will quite frequently have problems with NetBeans under the debugger. While in the debugger when I close a window with clinical data, suddenly ALL windows, including even NetBeans, lose their title bar. This can happen 10 times/day, which is quite annoying. This never happened before 11.04. I discovered it initially while using Fiji, but it happens in NetBeans where I am not using Fiji. The initial fix which is included in the FAQ inside Fiji, has a fix for nvidia. While this helps, it doesn't solve the problem. It is totally hopeless without the fix, but the fix isn't nearly 100%. You can look at the link inside Fiji FAQ and see where someone else had the problem long ago and how they fixed it. It is almost certainly a nvidia problem, which Java somehow knows how to trigger. Java in itself couldn't be so clever as to know how to remove the title bar from all windows, but it could certainly somehow trigger something inside nvidia. It seems that the nvidia driver before 11.04 wasn't sensitive to the unknown Java trigger. Ilan On Thu, Jun 2, 2011 at 2:10 PM, Fabio Marconi marconifabio@ubuntu- it.orgwrote: Hello the problem isn't surely with the nvidia drivers, or gnome, here the problem is in the application that you use Fiji or in Java I assign to Jave package for a better triage Thanks Fabio ** Package changed: ubuntu = icedtea-java7 (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: icedtea-java7 (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = New -- You received this bug notification because you are a direct subscriber of the bug. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/791325 Title: NVIDIA disappearing title bar on Ubuntu 11.04 Status in “icedtea-java7” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: There are NVIDIA problems reported in Bug #771788 but no one mentions the title bars sometimes go missing on all open windows. [Bug 788537] Re: Evolution dies on startup pthread
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. Now open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the crash report you wish to submit. If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with 'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. At a minimum, we need: 1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem, 2. the behavior you expected, and 3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). Thanks! When reporting bugs in the future please use apport, either via the appropriate application's Help - Report a Problem menu or using 'ubuntu-bug' and the name of the package affected.
