[Bug 644898] Re: required kernel toshiba support not enabled

2011-06-10 Thread keks-n
Are you sure, that you need _this_ fix? It fixes only the problem with
toshset. I think it's better to create a new bug report and describe
your problem in it, because it looks like that your laptop uses another
acpi model which isn't handled by toshiba_acpi kernel module.

[Bug 727535] Re: grub on btrfs with compress=lzo fails to boot

2011-06-10 Thread wilbur.harvey
I have a similar problem.
At the grub2 prompt, I can boot the system using the following commands
set root=(hd0,msdos1)
linux /@/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.38-8-generic root=/dev/sda1 ro rootflags=subvol=@
initrd /@/boot/initrd.img-2.6.38-8-generic
boot

But I get a message saying that it cannot read the Linux header if I try
the -9 or -10 kernel.

[Bug 795427] Re: Upgrade Libvirt up to 0.9.1 generates new bug with Virt-Manager

2011-06-10 Thread Boris Derzhavets
1. Install  Oneiric Alpha 1 + ubuntu-virt-server + virt-manager
 Create network bridge for KVM guests manually.
2. Run
 # apt-get update
 # apt-get upgrade

It should result upgrade Libvirt up to 0.9.1 in meantime.

3.Create block device - say /dev/sdb7 and install VF15 KVM guest on /dev/sdb7.
Remove  VF15 via virt-manager.

4. Try same install again with Natty as guest ( for example ) on /dev/sdb7.
 Virt-manager should load VF15 from device /dev/sdb7 instead of loading
from CD
 as usual.

That's my experience since trying DNLJ Virtualization PPA on Oneiric.
 If i will create ext4fs on /dev/sdb7 before second attempt with Natty,
 everything is going to be fine.

Bug description:
  Upgrade Libvirt up to 0.9.1 on Oneiric generates new bug with Virt-Manager.
  It becomes  impossible to install new guest say on /dev/sda7, if currently
/dev/sda7 contains some bootable image.
  Virt-Manager always loads from disk, ignoring attached installation CD

[Bug 795428] Re: Unable to remove a LVM volume

2011-06-10 Thread Thierry Carrez
The problem is that "dd" is not in the nova_sudoers, so nova can't run
"sudo dd". It's a packaging issue, deferring to Ubuntu packaging team.

[Bug 795524] Re: [Oneiric] Compiz no longer works after today update

2011-06-10 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package compiz-plugins-main -
0.9.4+bzr20110527-0ubuntu4

---
compiz-plugins-main (0.9.4+bzr20110527-0ubuntu4) oneiric; urgency=low

  * debian/patches/01-animation-defaults.patch:
- reset to wrong value "Fade" as compiz is segfaulting when using the right
  value with the gconf backend ("Focus Fade"). However, changing directly
  the xml and the gconf schema doesn't fix, and even then choosing the right
  value in ccsm fix it (and set "Focus Fade" itself). (LP: #795524)

[Bug 795562] [NEW] Dkms fails to build nvidia module for kernel 3.0-01

2011-06-10 Thread dino99
Public bug reported:

As the new kernel is greater than 2.6, the dkms.conf dont accept the 3 version,
so nvidia users cant use the latest kernel.
But someone have found what is needed to be tweaked:

1. patch /usr/src/linux-3.0-0-generic/include/linux/rcupdate.h
according to http://choon.net/forum/read.php?21,82725

2. this file /usr/src/nvidia-current-275.09.04/dkms.conf prevents build with
kernels newer than 2.6, so you have to modify the line:
OBSOLETE_BY=3.0.0

3. in the file /usr/src/nvidia-current-275.09.04/nv-linux.h, there's a section:
#if LINUX_VERSION_CODE < KERNEL_VERSION(2, 4, 7)
# error This driver does not support 2.4 kernels older than 2.4.7!
#elif LINUX_VERSION_CODE < KERNEL_VERSION(2, 5, 0)
# define KERNEL_2_4
#elif LINUX_VERSION_CODE < KERNEL_VERSION(2, 6, 0)
# error This driver does not support 2.5 kernels!
#elif LINUX_VERSION_CODE < KERNEL_VERSION(2, 7, 0)
# define KERNEL_2_6
#else
# error BLAHBLAH
#endif

so you have to replace error BLAHBLAH with something like define KERNEL_2_6
so that we pretend it's a 2.6 kernel.

You should then run

sudo dkms build -m nvidia-current -v 275.09.04 -k 3.0-0-generic
sudo dkms install -m nvidia-current -v 275.09.04 -k 3.0-0-generic

[Bug 795563] [NEW] evolution's incoming mail filter rules doesn't work with Exchange MAPI protocol

2011-06-10 Thread Ancho
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

I have set a filter for an Exchange MAPI protocol account. For incoming mails
my specifications where "Any conditions are met", then in actions I have:
* "Subject" and "sounds like" a string
* "Sender" and "sounds like" a string
* "Sender" and "is" and the email address.
Then contains only one action. To move to a folder that I choose (Created in
the Exchange MAPI account)
Nothing works, nothing is processed.

[Bug 775462] Re: [Arrandale] Xorg freeze (hybrid graphics)

2011-06-10 Thread Klaus Reichl
I think, this is a duplicate to 727620.
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/727620)

What I've found out so far:

Running "radeon" driver:

* Had system (radeon, compiz, googleearth) running like charm
* However booting did not work any more
  tried 3 times without success

Blacklisting "radeon" driver, installing fglrx:

* Fglrx driver fails to initialize graphics card, no luck

Blacklisting "radeon" driver, disabling fglrx in xorg.conf:

* System boots, compiz fails
=> metacity runs
=> googleearth fails with missing graphic support

[Bug 770708] Re: r8169: eth0: link is not ready after dist-upgrade

2011-06-10 Thread Tim Cuthbertson
I discovered my system's problem and it may be the same as yours. The
Ubuntu 11.04 kernel loaded the wrong driver for my NIC. It loads r8169
but it should load r8168. I found the correct driver at the Realtek
Taiwan site, installed it, blacklisted r8169, and now my connection is
stable.

[Bug 722122] Re: Adding PPAs should be made easier.

2011-06-10 Thread Peter Miller
The command
software-center apt:packagename
will take you into the GUI, and up to the point where it is ready to install
the new package.

Why doesn't the command
software-center ppa:archivename
take you into the GUI and up to the point where it is ready to add the new PPA?

This would, with appropriate warnings about trust-worthy-ness, mean that
you could get ppa: URIs to work the same way apt: URIs work now. With
the result that web pages with newbie-scary command line "install the
ppa then install the package" instructions can be hugely simplified...
to two simple links.

[Bug 795558] [NEW] Cannot change pointer

2011-06-10 Thread John Winterton
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gdm

Description:Ubuntu 11.04
Release:11.04
gdm:
  Installed: 2.32.1-0ubuntu3.2
  Candidate: 2.32.1-0ubuntu3.2
  Version table:
 *** 2.32.1-0ubuntu3.2 0

Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
 2.32.1-0ubuntu3 0
500 http://ca.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ natty/main amd64 Packages
With neither compiz, nor metacity am I able to change the pointer from small
white (default) on this theme (Ambiance).
Since I have visual impairment problems, this is getting to be beyond annoying.
 I do not choose to use other, high contrast themes because I find them
annoying.

Instead of trying to me-too smart phones, the alternate desktops should
have been better debugged. The default desktop with this release, which
arrived unannounced, is totally unacceptable to me. Trash like that
should be offered as an option, not as default. You are doing your best
to turn yourselves into Microsoft. If this goes on, I will find a
different distribution.

[Bug 585765] Re: Ubuntu 10.04 random freezes

2011-06-10 Thread ischoegl
Sebastian,
Check your wifi card - I've endured random freezes on my ThinkPad (a T410) for
over a year. I narrowed my freezes down to the Realtek Wifi card that appears
to be installed on a lot of thinkpads: mine's

lspci | grep RTL

Wireless LAN Controller (rev 10)

The drivers that were packaged with lucid caused the system to freeze
randomly on certain wireless networks. The drivers downloaded from
Realtek worked better. However, all of what I've said holds for lucid
...

[Bug 795519] Re: Oneiric disregards network proxy settings

2011-06-10 Thread Jean-Baptiste Lallement
It should work but depends on the application.
There are different places to set the proxy settings:
 * Environment variables in /etc/environment
 * apt settings: Acquire::http::proxy and also https and ftp in
/etc/apt/apt.conf or /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/
 * the dconf keys located at org.gnome.system.proxy
 * and some application seems to be looking at the legacy gconf keys
/system/proxy and /system/http_proxy, but it should have been converted to
dconf.

[Bug 774897] Re: Preferences aren't saved

2011-06-10 Thread Michael Terry
Clint, that is harmless. deja-dup-monitor.desktop is a generated file
whose path to the executable gets decided at configure time based on the
prefix. So that change will get overwritten. That file is defined as
DISTCLEANFILES, but it should just be CLEANFILES so that it's not in the
tarball.

However, I did notice when looking at the debdiff that the translation
changes are wrong! They seem to be undoing the translation of all the
help documentation! I'm looking into that.

[Bug 795550] [NEW] passwd failure resulted in change to unknown password

2011-06-10 Thread buchs
Public bug reported:

I normally have my user password pretty simple since my computer is
always under my control. I recently took a trip where I knew it was not
going to be under my control so I changed it to be more complex, using
passwd. When I returned from the trip, I tried to change it back to the
simple one and an error was reported because of the new (?) password
policy with Natty. So, it looked like it did not change the password.
However, it did get changed to something which was neither the old one
or the new one I requested. So I was locked out. I ended up having to
reinstall. I know this is a tough one because I probably won't be able
to repeat it, nor do I want to go through the install once again. I
don't want to give you my password, but I will characterize it by saying
the simple one was 5 lower case characters and 1 number. The complex one
was 5 lower case characters and 4 digits. I tried to change from the
complex one back to the simple one when the failure occurred.

Anyway, because of the abnoxious nature of this problem, I wanted to
report it, even though it may be difficult for you to do anything
further.

[Bug 795543] [NEW] CD/DVD drive not recognized after install

2011-06-10 Thread buchs
Public bug reported:

Bug report https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/782746
affects me. I also have a Aspire Timeline 5810TZ. It was a problem with
prior releases too (back to Lucid). I had to go in an edit fstab to
create an entry for the drive. I just had to do a install (rather than
upgrade) of 11.04 (passwd policy would not accept a new password I
entered and changed it to something else - lost access - should I report
that as a bug?). I chose to do a fresh install. The CD/DVD drive is
happily recognized during the install, but once the install is complete
there is no desktop/fstab activity. udisks shows the drive and media
also, but udisks --monitor-detail does not register a media insertion,
though it does register a media ejection.

[Bug 616159] Re: Japanese incorrect/archaic Kanji

2011-06-10 Thread era
The status Incomplete basically means there is information missing. In
this case I would actually say that it is correct, as (at least) one
crucial detail is missing, namely the names of the fonts. You allege
that some fonts are broken -- which ones? And others are correct --
which fonts would that be?

With this information, we could attempt to reproduce the problem,
although it is possible that there are still some factors which need to
be discovered before it can be reliably diagnosed.

[Bug 325790] Re: package anthy-el 9100d-1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2011-06-10 Thread era
Our apologies for taking so long to get back to you. Ubuntu bug triage
is handled mainly by volunteers, and sadly, not all packages get a lot
of attention all the time.

I suspect this to be a compatibility problem with xemacs21. If you
still have this problem, and don't require xemacs21, uninstalling that
is probably a feasible workaround.

Which xemacs21 variant are you running? I am asking because of
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=312829

I am setting the Status of this bug report to Incomplete to mark it as
pending on further input from you. Once you supply the requested
information, it can be changed back to New (or even Confirmed). Thank
you for your patience and understanding.

** Bug watch added: Debian Bug tracker #312829
   http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=312829

** Changed in: anthy (Ubuntu)
   Status: New => Incomplete

** Also affects: anthy (Debian) via

   Importance: Unknown
   Status: Unknown
