[Bug 795427] Re: Upgrade Libvirt up to 0.9.1 generates new bug with Virt-Manager
1. Install Oneiric Alpha 1 + ubuntu-virt-server + virt-manager Create network bridge for KVM guests manually. 2. Run # apt-get update # apt-get upgrade It should result upgrade Libvirt up to 0.9.1 in meantime. 3.Create block device - say /dev/sdb7 and install VF15 KVM guest on /dev/sdb7. Remove VF15 via virt-manager. 4. Try same install again with Natty as guest ( for example ) on /dev/sdb7. Virt-manager should load VF15 from device /dev/sdb7 instead of loading from CD as usual. That's my experience since trying DNLJ Virtualization PPA on Oneiric. [Bug 795524] Re: [Oneiric] Compiz no longer works after today update
This bug was fixed in the package compiz-plugins-main - 0.9.4+bzr20110527-0ubuntu4 --- compiz-plugins-main (0.9.4+bzr20110527-0ubuntu4) oneiric; urgency=low * debian/patches/01-animation-defaults.patch: - reset to wrong value "Fade" as compiz is segfaulting when using the right value with the gconf backend ("Focus Fade"). However, changing directly the xml and the gconf schema doesn't fix, and even then choosing the right value in ccsm fix it (and set "Focus Fade" itself). [Bug 795562] [NEW] Dkms fails to build nvidia module for kernel 3.0-01
Public bug reported: As the new kernel is greater than 2.6, the dkms.conf dont accept the 3 version, so nvidia users cant use the latest kernel. But someone have found what is needed to be tweaked: 1. patch /usr/src/linux-3.0-0-generic/include/linux/rcupdate.h according to http://choon.net/forum/read.php?21,82725 2. this file /usr/src/nvidia-current-275.09.04/dkms.conf prevents build with kernels newer than 2.6, so you have to modify the line: OBSOLETE_BY=3.0.0 3. in the file /usr/src/nvidia-current-275.09.04/nv-linux.h, there's a section: #if LINUX_VERSION_CODE < KERNEL_VERSION(2, 4, 7) # error This driver does not support 2.4 kernels older than 2.4.7! #elif LINUX_VERSION_CODE < KERNEL_VERSION(2, 5, 0) # define KERNEL_2_4 #elif LINUX_VERSION_CODE < KERNEL_VERSION(2, 6, 0) # error This driver does not support 2.5 kernels! #elif LINUX_VERSION_CODE < KERNEL_VERSION(2, 7, 0) # define KERNEL_2_6 #else # error BLAHBLAH #endif so you have to replace error BLAHBLAH with something like define KERNEL_2_6 so that we pretend it's a 2.6 kernel. You should then run sudo dkms build -m nvidia-current -v 275.09.04 -k 3.0-0-generic sudo dkms install -m nvidia-current -v 275.09.04 -k 3.0-0-generic ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.10 Package: nvidia-current 270.41.06-0ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.39-3.10-generic-pae 2.6.39 Uname: Linux 2.6.39-3-generic-pae i686 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia .proc.driver.nvidia.gpus.0: Error: [Errno 21] est un dossier: '/proc/driver/nvidia/gpus/0' .proc.driver.nvidia.registry: Binary: "" .proc.driver.nvidia.version: NVRM version: NVIDIA UNIX x86 Kernel Module 270.41.06 Mon Apr 18 14:54:25 PDT 2011 GCC version: gcc version 4.6.1 (Ubuntu/Linaro 4.6.0-11ubuntu2) Architecture: i386 CompizPlugins: No value set for `/apps/compiz-1/general/screen0/options/active_plugins' CompositorRunning: None Date: Fri Jun 10 16:02:15 2011 DistUpgraded: Fresh install DistroCodename: oneiric DistroVariant: ubuntu GraphicsCard: nVidia Corporation G86 [GeForce 8500 GT] [10de:0421] (rev a1) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. Clint, that is harmless. deja-dup-monitor.desktop is a generated file whose path to the executable gets decided at configure time based on the prefix. So that change will get overwritten. [Bug 795550] [NEW] passwd failure resulted in change to unknown password
Public bug reported: I normally have my user password pretty simple since my computer is always under my control. I recently took a trip where I knew it was not going to be under my control so I changed it to be more complex, using passwd. When I returned from the trip, I tried to change it back to the simple one and an error was reported because of the new (?) password policy with Natty. So, it looked like it did not change the password. However, it did get changed to something which was neither the old one or the new one I requested. So I was locked out. I ended up having to reinstall. I know this is a tough one because I probably won't be able to repeat it, nor do I want to go through the install once again. I don't want to give you my password, but I will characterize it by saying the simple one was 5 lower case characters and 1 number. The complex one was 5 lower case characters and 4 digits. I tried to change from the complex one back to the simple one when the failure occurred. Anyway, because of the abnoxious nature of this problem, I wanted to report it, even though it may be difficult for you to do anything further. [Bug 795543] [NEW] CD/DVD drive not recognized after install
Public bug reported: Bug report https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/782746 affects me. I also have a Aspire Timeline 5810TZ. It was a problem with prior releases too (back to Lucid). I had to go in an edit fstab to create an entry for the drive. I just had to do a install (rather than upgrade) of 11.04 (passwd policy would not accept a new password I entered and changed it to something else - lost access - should I report that as a bug?). I chose to do a fresh install. The CD/DVD drive is happily recognized during the install, but once the install is complete there is no desktop/fstab activity. udisks shows the drive and media also, but udisks --monitor-detail does not register a media insertion, though it does register a media ejection. [Bug 782746] Re: Nautilus + 11.04 does not recognize laptop CD drive
This bug affects me. The CD/DVD drive is happily recognized during the install, but once the install is complete there is no desktop/fstab activity. udisks shows the drive and media als, but udisks --monitor-detail does not register a media insertion, though it does register a media ejection. I am going to run apport-collect for this bug and hopefully thats a correct procedure and not rude. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/782746 Title: Nautilus + 11.04 does not recognize laptop CD drive To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/782746/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 616159] Re: Japanese incorrect/archaic Kanji
The status Incomplete basically means there is information missing. In this case I would actually say that it is correct, as (at least) one crucial detail is missing, namely the names of the fonts. You allege that some fonts are broken -- which ones? And others are correct -- which fonts would that be? With this information, we could attempt to reproduce the problem, although it is possible that there are still some factors which need to be discovered before it can be reliably diagnosed. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/616159 Title: Japanese incorrect/archaic Kanji To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/anthy/+bug/616159/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 325790] Re: package anthy-el 9100d-1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1
Our apologies for taking so long to get back to you. Ubuntu bug triage is handled mainly by volunteers, and sadly, not all packages get a lot of attention all the time. I suspect this to be a compatibility problem with xemacs21. If you still have this problem, and don't require xemacs21, uninstalling that is probably a feasible workaround. Which xemacs21 variant are you running? I am asking because of http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=312829 I am setting the Status of this bug report to Incomplete to mark it as pending on further input from you. Once you supply the requested information, it can be changed back to New (or even Confirmed).
