[Bug 814175] [NEW] update UbuntuHashes for 10.04.3

2011-07-21 Thread Colin Watson
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 10.04.3 is syncing out to mirrors now. Could you please update
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuHashes with its checksums? GPG-
signed checksums are available in the usual places.

(Please reassign to ubuntu-website if necessary.
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PointReleaseProcess and
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuHashes disagree about what I'm
supposed to be doing here.)

I presume that the error message is due to the fact that I have followed the
info given by boot-repair (install on every disk if uncertain). So, mi HD has
several partitions:
HD itself is sda.
sda1 is for Win XP ntfs format
sda2 is an extended partition that contains sda5 and 6.
sda5 is for ubuntu, ext4 format
sda6 is swap, with swap format

I tried to reinstall grub2 on sda and sda5... now rebooting!

[Bug 781911] Re: 11.04 hanging on shutdown/suspend on eMachine ER1402

2011-07-21 Thread Fabian Gumz
Something about the same.
I am not able to shutdown or restart properly without switching acpi off.
When I switch it off, strange things happen.
Gnome shuts down and strangely I find myself in the recovery-start-up-menu
which allows me to chose between normal start-up, start-up with checking the
file system and so on.
I'm Using an Acer 8930G and Ubuntu 11.04.
Btw: Hibernating works with acpi on.

[Bug 680444] Re: dbus-daemon eats 100% cpu and is not responsive

2011-07-21 Thread Zach Welch
Contrary to the current status, this bug does not appear to have been
fixed in Natty. It is readily reproducible, though apparently non-
deterministic. Exiting some applications that use dbus will help
temporarily, but the symptoms invariably reappear when given enough
uptime.

Based on the strace log provided in the initial report (and my own
investigation), it looks like dbus leaks file descriptors in some
circumstances, leading to a livelock situation when calling accept.

I am running dbus-1.4.6ubuntu6, so the conclusion that this was fixed in
1.4.6ubuntu was incorrect. This bug needs to be reopened and reexamined.

[Bug 551477] Re: Hipo on Lucid: Could not find org.freedesktop.Hal

2011-07-21 Thread Gurmeet
Added halevt and libboolstuff separately from apt-get and then install
hipo.

The UI appeared but nothing in the UI is working. Menu opens but clicking on
any of them does not do anything.
Also, at the bottom, it says, 'No IPOD found' even though my IPOD is connected.

Not sure what is wrong and how to correct.

[Bug 814180] [NEW] pop up window does not fill in the form from the window which gave rise to it.

2011-07-21 Thread Leandro Lima
Public bug reported:

It seems java is not working well. On the page

shows up for me to perform a search and select from the results. After I
click a button, whose java source code is

Re: [Bug 813837] [NEW] ltsp client not able to load boot file: ltsp/amd64.tmp/pxelinux.0

2011-07-21 Thread Stéphane Graber
Hi!

Can you attach your installer syslog file?

Having .tmp in the path usually indicates that ltsp-update-image failed
somehow as its last step is to rename amd64.img.tmp to amd64.img.

How much disk space did you give your VM? At build time LTSP can use
around 1GB more than what's needed for a regular Ubuntu install.

[Bug 801610] Re: Include enic fnic drivers in ubuntu-installer

2011-07-21 Thread Colin Watson
The kernel packaging needs to add these drivers to appropriate udebs
(presumably nic-modules and scsi-modules respectively?). Once that
happens they'll automatically show up in the next installer build.

I've checked that they're missing in current kernel udebs from both
lucid and oneiric.

[Bug 598282] Re: command-not-found slow for its task

2011-07-21 Thread Zygmunt Krynicki
Feel free to help me out. The only issue why this app is slow is python
startup time. A rewrite in C would make it much more responsive. NB: The
app is _fast_ but not _responsive_.

More than a year ago I did an experiment with c-n-f running as a daemon
with a trimmed-down C program talking to it over dbus. The initial
response was roughly identical to what c-n-f does today. Each subsequent
response was instant (on a very slow atom laptop with spinning disk). I
did not finish that design but I think the idea is sound.

There are three things taking time in c-n-f:

1) The start up time of the environment (currently the only really slow thing)
2) The query, this is actually very fast using binary database optimized for
lookups. It actually answers 10s or even 100s queries each time you miss-type a
command as it searches for similar command to offer typo suggestions. I don't
see the need to optimize this much but one possible solution would be to add a
cache for things that people often miss-type to save on the spellchecker
lookups.
3) The time it takes to format and print the message, this is very fast and I
don't see the need to change that.

[Bug 814189] [NEW] Unity won't start on login

2011-07-21 Thread Jono Bacon
Public bug reported:

When I log into the Ubuntu session in oneiric, the desktop icons, mouse
cursor and wallpaper display, but there is no panel or launcher. Alt-F2
and Super-A do not display the dash. I can click on a desktop icon and
load for example an image, and window decorations are present.

If I switch to tty1 and run:

 unity 21 ~/log

Unity starts and displays the panel (and the wallpaper, icons, mouse
cursor and window decoration), but I have no launcher. My log file now
contains:

[Bug 814185] [NEW] python-xen requires python 2.6 on natty

2011-07-21 Thread Tom Ellis
Public bug reported:

On Natty, you cannot install the ubuntu-xen-server package because
python-xen-3.3 which is required by xen-utils requires python 2.6, when
2.7 is default.

ubuntu@etretat:~$ sudo apt-get install python-xen-3.3

There's slightly more to it than that, and it'll involve some changes to
the Launchpad PPA. I'm working on it and will update this bug when you
can upload. Rest assured that I am on top of it.
