[Bug 615186] Re: md_d0 array fabricated, prevents mounting md0 partitions
Any reason why the following patches haven't been folded into Ubuntu 10.04 LTS? [Bug 822277] Re: Unity fails to launch
Thanks for finding this Timo. I have 2 display cards on the laptop. I have switchable setting in the BIOS disabled and have selected the Intel graphics card under video. However to use the DVI port on the laptop I need to use the ATI graphics card. So I reboot my laptop and select video as ATI in BIOS on need basis. [Bug 822539] Re: Unity stopped working after update
Sorry, I forgot about it. Before uninstalling nvidia-current: something about GLX missing After uninstalling nvidia-current: OpenGL vendor string: Tungsten Graphics, Inc OpenGL renderer string: Mesa DRI Intel(R) Sandybridge Mobile GEM 20100330 DEVELOPMENT OpenGL version string: 2.1 Mesa 7.10.2 Not software rendered:yes Not blacklisted: yes GLX fbconfig: yes GLX texture from pixmap: yes GL npot or rect textures: yes GL vertex program:yes GL fragment program: yes GL vertex buffer object: yes GL framebuffer object:yes GL version is 1.4+: yes Unity supported: yes Also after the update and BEFORE reboot OpenGL stopped working in Java (I'm developing OpenGL game in Java right now). After reboot Unity wasn't working too. Maybe the solution would be putting older version of nvidia drivers until the bug is resolved (if others have the same problem with them)? The update I installed almost certainly had new version of nvidia- current and probably of Java (I've seen iced tea in there). It was the first update I did in a month though, so I don't know how long the problem was there. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/822539 Title: Unity stopped working after update To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/822539/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 807022] Re: 11.04 fails to boot from USB 3.0 stick
The only solutions in there that I think applies to this case is to use (1) Ubuntu's own startup disk creator program and (2) to plug the USB stick into an USB 2.0 slot instead of an USB 3.0 slot. As for (1), that I what I used. As for (2) it helps, that is, it boots alright if I plug the USB 3.0 stick into an USB 2.0 slot but not if I plug it into a USB 3.0 slot. [Bug 771905] Re: No logo at boot on nvidia card
I also tried it with comment 39, just used "radeon" instead. After the changes described there, also initramfs-update, I made a reboot and was locked out of the system! I could not enter my password for the decryption on the black screen where normally no letters appeared and where normally I could blindly type in the password (normally means with this bug active). Instead, the English keyboard layout was active and the letters were printed on the screen. So I tried the recovery console; did not work either, probably uses the same initramfs. Then I chose the previous (normal) kernel version and could change the file, but I just made a "#" before "modprobe radeon", so that it is a comment. update-initramfs. Then: It worked. I could enter the password and now even unity works and I solved this problem: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=4126 and http://forum.ubuntuusers.de/topic/unity-startet-nicht-mit-radeon-glx-ext-texture-fro/ ("GLX_EXT_texture_from_pixmap missing"). [Bug 705949] Re: (Needs Q4 -intel) [Arrandale] Gateway NV79 Backlight and Monitor trouble
I think there are two bugs here. The first one about the backlight appears to be fixed for most people (the suspend issue is probably a separate bug). The second bug with the screen split by a diagonal black line (which only occurred when working around the first bug) might be https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=38851 , which has been fixed upstream in the recently released kernel 3.1-rc1, and cc'd to the stable kernel maintainers for their consideration.
