[Bug 858425] Re: g++ has a new syntax complaint

2011-09-24 Thread Julian Taylor
This is most certainly a bug in your code caught by the stricter compiler.
I did not check as 43mb is to large for me to download, but probably you are
calling a base constructor from an overloaded constructor which will just
create an temporary which is instantly removed.
Please provide a smaller testcase.

[Bug 832150] Re: ubuntu desktop unity. Mouse at the left side doesn't reveal launcher

2011-09-24 Thread Jan Rathmann
I'm seeing this too on a freshly installed Oneric Beta 2.
It happens sometimes (but not everytime!) that I can't reveal the launcher via
mouse when I have a maximized window (which should work by just moving the
mouse to left screen side), only Alt+F1/Super works. I have never seen this in
Unity 2D so far.

[Bug 857397] Re: Modal dialogue from update-manager does not appear in unity's spread, leading to confusion

2011-09-24 Thread pablomme
I don't seem to be able to record a correctly-encoded screencast with
recordmydesktop... I'll attach a couple of screenshots instead.

The "Not all updates can be installed" window can be forced to appear by
deliberately breaking the APT index. I can do this with a conflicting
version of libcogl I happened to have in my cache from a recent update:

sudo dpkg -i --force-all
/var/cache/apt/archives/libcogl2_1.7.8-1_amd64.deb

The index can be brought back to sanity with "sudo apt-get -f remove",
of course.

Then, open update-manager and wait for the "Not all updates can be
installed" window to pop up. Observe that there are two arrows on the
left of the update-manager launcher icon, correctly indicating the
existence of two windows. Press the icon to trigger spread mode, and
only the main window will appear.

As I mentioned in the report, this is very confusing when both windows
are on different desktops.

[Bug 857828] Re: kontact migration to 11.10 fails

2011-09-24 Thread Tom Chiverton
Some of the grey ones have now vanished, and some newly deleted email stays
behind as grey'ed out rather than vanishing.
There seems to be no pattern as to which stay and which don't.

One folder had only 1 item in it, and it was grey (and I recall deleting
it) but Kmail still showed a blue "(1)" as if it was a new message.

So it seems something is very out of sync somehow

[Bug 419795] Re: Multimedia keys not working by default in vlc

2011-09-24 Thread Rémi Denis-Courmont
VLC supports global hotkeys since 1.0.0. YOu need to configure them in
the preferences dialog.

If nothing happens there, it simply means another application uses the
same hotkey. You cannot have two applications use the same global
hotkeys at a time: this is a design decision in X11.

[Bug 858459] [NEW] lock up on boot when network cable is unplugged

2011-09-24 Thread Marc Deslauriers
Public bug reported:

This is happening with a new Oneiric beta 2 install on an Acer Aspire One 522.
When booting, if a network cable is not plugged in, the laptop will lock up
when the ethernet card is being probed by network manager.

There are two workarounds I could find:
1- Blacklist the atl1c driver
2- Turn on PXE booting in the BIOS

For some reason, when PXE boot is enabled in the bios, the network card
gets initialized properly and the lock up does not occur.

[Bug 838669] Re: Keep default layout dialog is not localized in Finnish

2011-09-24 Thread Steve Langasek
I've done a partial merge of translations from Debian for this (up to
Debian release 1.63), which gets us at least some of the translations.
I've published the merge here: lp:~vorlon/console-setup/lp.838669

However, in looking at the history I see that this bug was also present in
natty, so I'm not sure if this warrants a last-minute update:
 - few people will see this question since it won't be shown by default
 - of those who will, only one person so far has raised a bug about it
 - the console-setup package is a major merge pain (we haven't been caught up
with Debian since before the squeeze release, and possibly much longer), and I
don't want to make this worse with my cherry-pick.

Colin, can you have a look at this branch and see if you think this will
make problems for merging console-setup later?

(As an aside, would it make sense for you or I to stage a full upstream
merge of console-setup for p, so that we can land it early after
opening, given how this merge seems to always be too big to tackle by
the time we look at it?)

[Bug 858456] [NEW] lxdm turns on numLock on my laptop

2011-09-24 Thread Reinis Zumbergs
Public bug reported:

1) Installed fresh as Xubuntu Oneiric Beta 1 64 bit.
Now installed lubuntu-core and using Lubuntu session
2) 0.4.1-0ubuntu1
3) As I have laptop without dedicated Numpad, I expect that numlock is not
turned on for me. (in Natty all was good)
4) On lxdm login screen numlock is off, but the moment I log in, it turns on.
I even uncommented "numlock=0", but it still turns it on.

[Bug 858448] [NEW] Bad Regex in Folks

2011-09-24 Thread Brandon Snider
Public bug reported:

This error appears in .xsession-errors:
Window manager warning: Log level 16: Failed to load shared library
'--includedir=.' referenced by the typelib: --includedirso.so: cannot open
shared object file: No such file or directory

The problem is referenced in Gnome bug#658002:
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=658002 -- starting with
comment 11.

The bug has been fixed upstream, and Folks 6.3.1, which is not in Debian
Experimental yet (as I write this) should therefore be packaged into
Oneiric, to replace 6.3.

[Bug 858450] [NEW] lcd flickers after dpms cycle

2011-09-24 Thread Marc Deslauriers
Public bug reported:

After installing Oneiric beta 2 on a Acer Aspire One 522 with an AMD
C-50 chipset, when the screen is shut off with dpms and comes back on,
the LCD flickers. The longer the screen is turned off, the more severe
the flickering is when it is turned back on. When the flickering occurs,
waiting a couple of minutes makes the flicker grow progressively better
until it is gone completely.

How to reproduce:
xset dpms force off; sleep 10; xset dpms force on

BTW: I can also confirm that it seems to have to do with traffic load.
As long as there is normal network activity (internet access, mails,
contacting other clients in the LAN) everything works fine. But as soon as I
start my backup (over the LAN to another PC), this problems occurs quite
frequently.

2011-09-24 Thread Matt Hanyok
This JUST started happening to me today. I ran update manager on my
system yesterday evening and something has gone and screwed up the
wireless connectivity.

Whenever it happens, the only way I can get it to work again is to
restart the machine.

Same module (r8192se_pci). I also found that using modprobe to turn it
off and then attempt to re-enable it would cause a hard lock on my
system, necessitating a reboot.

[Bug 855771] Re: Gnome alarm clock doesn't stop alarms

2011-09-24 Thread Saverio Miroddi
So, first of all, at a quick test, I've been able to reproduce a similar
but different problem.

Steps I used:
- I had already two timers, one 40" and one 90"
- started the 90"
- started both
- stopped the 40"

If now I right click on the tray icon, the "stop all alarms" entry is
greyed out.

Standard output log attached.

[Bug 858412] Re: Regression: Logitech webcam microphone makes "chipmunk" sound after Oneiric beta upgrade

2011-09-24 Thread Brad Figg
Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report on this issue.

However, given the number of bugs that the Kernel Team receives during
any development cycle it is impossible for us to review them all.
Therefore, we occasionally resort to using automated bots to request
further testing. This is such a request.

We have noted that there is a newer version of the development kernel
than the one you last tested when this issue was found. Please test
again with the newer kernel and indicate in the bug if this issue still
exists or not.

If the bug still exists, change the bug status from Incomplete to
Confirmed. If the bug no longer exists, change the bug status from
Incomplete to Fix Released.

Thank you for your help, we really do appreciate it.

2011-09-24 Thread Steve Langasek
The libpam-modules package includes only this code:

if dpkg --compare-versions "$2" lt-nl 1.1.3-1; then
db_version 2.0

if pidof xscreensaver xlockmore >/dev/null; then
db_input critical libpam-modules/disable-screensaver || true
db_go || true
fi
fi

Please show the output of the following command on your system:

$ which pidof xscreensaver xlockmore

Were you shown a prompt asking you to stop the screensaver before
continuing the upgrade?

[Bug 743359] Re: Installer: LockFailedException: Failed to lock /target/var/cache/apt/archives/lock

2011-09-24 Thread Boas Novas
I downloaded the 11.10-beta2-desktop-amd64.iso, and attempted to install
in a newly created Virtual Box (ubuntu-11-10-beta2.vmdk (Normal, 8,00
GB). I set the RAM to 1024MB, and accepted the defaults for all the
other settings (included the Brazilian Keyboard). The host OS is Ubuntu
11.04 Kernel Linux 2.6.38-11-generic, with VirtualBox 4.1.0

[Bug 805947] Re: SRU: hand-picked packaging fixes for Lucid, Maverick, and Natty

2011-09-24 Thread Martin-Éric Racine
Here's a debdiff against what's in Lucid-proposed and Maverick-proposed
of what I would propose for Lucid and Maverick, based on the feedback
that produced the consolidated diff for Natty.

I'd obviously append a changelog entries called 2.5.0-17squeeze2~lucid1
and 2.5.0-17squeeze2~maverick1 for the upload.

Feedback on whether a consolidated diff would be preferred and in what
shape is welcome.

** Patch added: "debdiff 2.5.0-17squeeze1 to 2.5.0-17squeeze2"
