[Bug 882605] [NEW] After resume, the screen is not redrawn until the password is typed in.
Public bug reported: I'm using a Dell D830 with Nvidia graphics. It is like the lock screen doesn't get displayed. It is usually a solid black (sometimes light green), with the mouse cursor able to move, but nothing else. The lock screen works if invoked without suspending. [Bug 856253] Re: CD/DVD drive not detected on Lenovo3000-N200 with ACPI enabled
I found an older report of this issue (bug #198319) that indicates that this problem is somehow related to grub (switching from lilo to grub caused the problem to appear, switching back made it go away) and that when grub was installed in a dual-boot scenario the drive stops working under Windows as well. This may explain why the old kernels aren't working now but were before. Also noted there is that if you disable the drive in your bios settings, the drive starts working again. [Bug 881079] Re: Waiting up to 60 more seconds for network configuration at startup
Jeff, there are different reasons why this message can appear. In your case, it may really be caused by a delay in bringing up the network. The purpose of the upstart SRU is to make sure the message only appears when it should, which is why I've asked Marius to test - since we've already determined that the message is wrong in your case. Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . If possible, please test the latest kernel (Not a kernel in the daily directory). Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag(Only that one tag, please leave the others). This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. If this bug is fixed by the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream-KERNEL-VERSION'. For example, if kernel version 3.1-rc9 fixed and issue, the tag would be: 'kernel-fixed- upstream-v3.1-rc9'. [Bug 861443] Re: There is no easy way to change proxy settings in Ubuntu 11.10
Duplicate Bug, Duplicate comment... Disappointed New Updates still do not allow for setting ignore_hosts, which in almost all cases where a proxy is needed there is an intranet that is not sent through the proxy. I love automatic security updates, an essential part of the Ubuntu experience. I do not love nor am I enchanted by having the aforementioned automatic security update remove access to the corporate intranet that was working fine before I consented to install updates. Removal of the old version left its settings around, and when compared to new set, they were better organized and more complete. I've added ignore_hosts setting to the new set in hopes that its implemented but not in the gui yet. I'll find out on the next reboot I suppose, Else I am confined to Firefox for the intranet as it allows manual proxy setup with exclusions. This replacement was shortsighted and not at all customer focused. So here is a tip for you, free of charge. [Bug 795519] Re: Add back system-wide network proxy settings
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 861443 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/861443 Disappointed New Updates still do not allow for setting ignore_hosts, which in almost all cases where a proxy is needed there is an intranet that is not sent through the proxy. [Bug 882628] [NEW] Processor Useage is very high and systm get stuck in Ubuntu 11.10
Public bug reported: My processor usage remains very high (~100 %) almost all the time in Ubuntu 11.10. I was using 11.04 earlier and updated to 11.10. Due to this condition I formatted the root partition and installed Ubuntu 11.10 freshly (my home folder is in different partition and it was untouched). [Bug 882340] Re: Invalid physical address encountered during vmcore_init.
If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'. Thanks in advance. ** Tags added: needs-upstream-testing -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/882340 Title: Invalid physical address encountered during vmcore_init.
