[Bug 365461] Re: Evolution hang on startup

2011-12-06 Thread Eneko Lacunza
Hi,

I'm running 10.04 LTS up-to-date. I have this problem too, after a cold
boot to Ubuntu, sometimes (not always) evolution doesn't start properly;
I run it from the mail menu and I can see the evolution process with "ps
-ef|grep evolution" but no GUI window appears.

I have to kill all evolution processes:
/usr/lib/evolution/evolution-data-server-2.28
/usr/lib/evolution/2.28/evolution-exchange-storage
/usr/lib/evolution/2.28/evolution-alarm-notify
evolution

After doing it, evolution starts ok.

This is a dual boot laptop. In Natty (with patched modemmanager)
everything is well. In Oneiric CFUN=1 is being sent, WHICH MUST NOT
HAPPEN with the type of Sierra I've got.

This was the point in Aleksander's patch.

[Bug 899054] Re: nvidia-173 kernel module failed to build in Precise (Unable to determine the target kernel version - like bug 576648)

2011-12-06 Thread Bryce Harrington
Oh I certainly do think that new bugs are more important than old ones,
but no that's not what I meant.

What I meant is that it looks like the instance of this build failure in
precise may be due to something different than what's causing it in
lucid. Because these build failures apparently weren't happening in
oneiric (even though jockey bug #897681 was), I have a suspicion it's a
recent regression, possibly kernel-version-specific.

[Bug 901093] [NEW] Error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.TimedOut: Activation of org.freedesktop.PackageKit timed out

2011-12-06 Thread Martin-Éric Racine
Public bug reported:

Whenever (re)installing Packagekit, I keep on getting the following:

Setting up packagekit (0.7.1-1) ...
Error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.TimedOut: Activation of
org.freedesktop.PackageKit timed out

Sure enough, during normal utilization, a similar error appears, such as
when running "apt-get update":

Error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Did not receive a reply.
Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply,
the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout
expired, or the network connection was broken.

Dbus runs as expected for other applications, so I suspect that this
newer Precise packagekit version is to blame, since everything works
fine on my Oneiric hosts.

[Bug 875922] Re: no way to unminimize just one of many windows

2011-12-06 Thread Omer Akram
in Ubuntu 11.10 its not like that. if you have multiple windows
associated to one and you minimize all the windows, clicking one time on
the launcher will raise the last minimized app, click again would show
all the windows in "spread" and you can click the window you want.
Although clicking the desired window from spread brings it to front but
all the other minimized apps are now also unmimized behind, thats
another bug.

Re: [Bug 509180] Re: ecryptfs sometimes seems to add trailing garbage to encrypted files

2011-12-06 Thread Sam Liddicott
Sounds like a plausible deniability feature is active.

"Honest, its not encrypted, it's corrupted. Ouch"

Of course, to be plausible, such a mode cannot be disabled.

However in England failure to decrypt could result in jail time so this bug
entry could be evidence.

[Bug 898564] Re: pm-utils: power.d/hal-cd-polling probably should be removed

2011-12-06 Thread Steve Langasek
Is this actually worth diverging from Debian on? Since hal is no longer
part of the installed system, the "command_exists hal-disable-polling ||
exit $NA" check exits early. Yes it consumes some CPU cycles and should
go away, but I would expect the actual impact is trivial.

[Bug 433142] Re: xf86-video-geode: 800x480 and 1024x600 Panel support is broken

2011-12-06 Thread Martin-Éric Racine
Basically, the short answer to laptop support with the Geode X driver
seems to be that it needs a custom xorg.conf for each laptop, since it
cannot probe the display for ideal size.

Upstream developers have now documented this fact and provided command
examples for calculating display modes along with a sample xorg.conf
that shows how the command's result can be used. This will be included
in xf86-video-geode 2.11.13 to be released shortly.

[Bug 879790] Re: Sound doesn't play properly after upgrade from 11.04->11.10

2011-12-06 Thread Steffen-schloenvoigt
Actually I don't think that it's an Intel Network driver problem nor
something with the nvidia drivers. I have a T60 here that has an atheros
wifi and an ATI graphics card. Sound is HDA intel but the last post
suggested its caused by intel network drivers. The wired lan is an Intel
Corporation 82573L Gigabit Ethernet Controller but I disabled that one -
the problem still persists... Either it's something with the whole
lenovo system architecture or the problem is caused by another
component...

[Bug 881584] Re: Preferred application not available in System settings

[Bug 823199] Re: Drag and drop doesn't show all apps than can use the file

2011-12-06 Thread Aleksi-ajp
Can't the launcher be modified to allow moving file to any application but
highlight only the ones that "take" such files?
Or perhaps you could hold the files on non-highlighted application icon for a
while to make it highlighted and accept the file?
Some option somewhere in setting to allow moving all files to all applications?

ideas?

Does anyone know if there is a upstream bug already reported? Is this
actually upstream?

I wonder how this can't be noticed. I expect every Ubuntu user to fail
with bluetooth file transfers right now. This must have some echo?

The dependency is "iceweasel|firefox|abrowser". Indeed, I wonder why
this dependency is there.

The changelog is unclear about this. It apparently got added when Fiz
Vazquez (CC'ed, please keep CC list) was maintaining the package for
Ubuntu (in a private repo?).

The reason is probably the same rationale than having
/usr/bin/pytrainer as a wrapper:

LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib/firefox MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME=/usr/lib/firefox
python /usr/bin/pytr

Other pytrainer Debian package maintainers, do you have a clue? I'm
tempted to drop that wrapper (it causes a lintian warning about not
having a manpage for "pytr"). I suspect the need to be able to use
some Firefox libraries but I'm not sure that such a hack is the right
way to do things.

[Bug 865377] Re: Linux fails to suspend on ASUS Eee PC Seashell 1215T-MU17

2011-12-06 Thread joehill
Just a comment to say that since I filed this bug this problem has
persisted, sometimes not happening for a week or so but for the past
week or so happening about 50% of the time, which means restarting
several times a day because I move a lot with my netbook. (And if
Oneiric restarted in less than 5 or 10 minutes it wouldn't be such a
problem, but it always takes a significant amount of time to reboot and
restart applications.) I'd be glad to provide more information if
someone could tell me what to provide. Thanks.
