[Bug 855516] Re: alt-tab - The app title in the top left of the top bar should change as the alt-tab focus changes
Ideally we should use _NET_WM_STATE_FOCUSED rather than _NET_ACTIVE_WINDOW for determining which window is logically active. http://mail.gnome.org/archives/wm-spec-list/2011-October/msg0.html _NET_WM_STATE_FOCUSED allows window managers to specify which window(s) are logically in focus rather than _NET_ACTIVE_WINDOW which is restricted to which window has the input focus, which we can't just change whenever we want for various reasons. Compiz still needs support for this, I'm pretty sure I added it in last week but I haven't had a chance to test it yet. ** Changed in: compiz-core Importance: Undecided = High -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/855516 Title: alt-tab - The app title in the top left of the top bar should change as the alt-tab focus changes To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ayatana-design/+bug/855516/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 906358] [NEW] udev and lvm2 hang at boot
Public bug reported: I'm experiencing a really long wait when booting freshly installed xubuntu 11.10 with only updates and mdadm + lvm2 installed. I have managed to narrow it down somewhat but still looking for a fix. After disabling splash and quiet from grub I noticed it's waiting at /scripts/init-bottom/udev in initrd and continues after 61 seconds. Not surprisingly i found a udevadm control --timeout 61 --exit line in there. Well, why does it fail so badly it waits for timeout before exiting? After quite a bit of googling I found this: http://us.generation-nt.com/answer/problem-lvm-gets-stuck-during-booting-due-recent-uevent-change-help-205241751.html Ari Savolainen writes: An init script (/scripts/init-bottom/udev in initrd) issues command udevadm control --timeouta --exit. At the same time udevd is executing /sbin/lvm vgchange -a y (from /lib/udev/rules.d/85-lvm2.rules) that calls ioctl to resume a logical volume. After that lvm gets stuck forever. Booting continues after the 61 second timeout. Milan Broz writes: If you call vgchange or even vgscan from udev rule, it is completely wrong. This is not lvm upstream udev rule btw. This makes me slightly worried, does this cause any other problems than a annoyingly slow boot? Is there any way to fix this? [Bug 905754] Re: Israel is not on the installer map
I've done some investigation here. I think the fix is beyond me, and I'd appreciate Evan's help here. There does not appear to be a core problem with the data; the Asia/Jerusalem timezone is listed in libtimezonemap, if I use the TimezoneMap widget in isolation I can get it to return Asia/Jerusalem to me for certain x/y combinations, and instances of ubiquity.tz.Database know about Asia/Jerusalem. However, it's no wonder that requiring absolutely pixel-perfect mouse positioning doesn't always work very well. Even after setting up a TimezoneMap widget in isolation that's exactly the same size as the one rendered by ubiquity (751x277, established visually) and managing to get it to select Asia/Jerusalem, I can't be certain that that's possible in ubiquity itself. I think we need a small rethink of how mouse operation of the map works with small regions. We don't have a great deal of installer development time this cycle, so I'm not proposing anything large, but this does need some attention. Jan (comment #2) is correct that we used to have a zoom facility on the map. Unfortunately it caused extensive problems of its own and we eventually removed it a few releases ago. Jeremy (comment #6) is also correct that you can simply type in a city name. That's not too bad as a workaround, but the mouse-navigation facility is present and should therefore work well, not just sort-of-well. As evidenced by this bug, only working sort-of-well is a liability. I have some thoughts on how this might be improved, but I'd like Evan's feedback on those, as they will certainly involve interface extensions to libtimezonemap. The current library interface is as follows: you click on a point and get a signal back telling you about the closest location to that point. Inside the library, it sorts all the locations in the timezone database by their Euclidean distance from that point. If the library offered some way to get hold of the sorted list, rather than merely the first element in the sorted list, then we could do a much better job of the UI in ambiguous cases. As far as the UI is concerned, there are a few possibilities I can think of that would be better than the current behaviour. We could allow you to click repeatedly on the same point, or close by (not everyone will have the motor coordination to click on the exact same x/y coordinates more than once, and it's harder with a mouse than with a trackball or trackpad), and cycle through the top n nearby locations. Alternatively, we could set the closest location but also pop up a drop-down box with the top n nearby locations, so that it's obvious that you can select another one without having to enter its name directly. ** Changed in: libtimezonemap (Ubuntu Precise) Status: New = Triaged ** Changed in: libtimezonemap (Ubuntu Precise) Importance: Undecided = High ** Changed in: libtimezonemap (Ubuntu Precise) Assignee: (unassigned) = Evan Dandrea (ev) ** Changed in: libtimezonemap (Ubuntu Precise) Milestone: None = precise-alpha-2 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/905754 Title: Israel is not on the installer map To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libtimezonemap/+bug/905754/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 905606] Re: Kernel panic on Atom 270 * Intel 945 chipset
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . If possible, please test the latest v3.2-rcN kernel (Not a kernel in the daily directory). Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream- testing' tag(Only that one tag, please leave the other tags). This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream- testing' text. If this bug is fixed by the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream-KERNEL-VERSION'. For example, if kernel version 3.2-rc1 fixed and issue, the tag would be: 'kernel-fixed- upstream-v3.2-rc1'. If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'. If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'. If you believe this bug does not require upstream testing, please add the tag: 'kernel-upstream-testing-not-needed'. Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as Confirmed. The screen should pan when the mouse is moved outside the visible area on the screen, when the visible part of the screen on the CRTC is part of a larger configured framebuffer screen. Use the following to configure panning xrandr --fb 1600x1200 --output LVDS --mode 1280x800 --panning 1600x1200 Use the following to restore xrandr --fb 1280x800 --output LVDS --mode 1280x800 --panning 1280x800 Move the mouse to the CRTC edge and expect to see screen to pan, but pan does not happen, because the mouse is constrained to remain in the CRTC bounds. Use case: laptops have small screens. Configure panning to use a larger screen on the small DISPLAY. [Bug 873482] Re: elantech: Touchpad always reports 3 finger tap as 1 finger tap
Yes, there is a log of the events from several triple taps here https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input- synaptics/+bug/873482/+attachment/2544802/+files/input-events- oneiric.txt if you are curious, however, I do not believe the bug is in the upstream code. Ubuntu has a set of patches on top which tries to count the number of fingers in an event, ignoring in most cases what the kernel sends, but elantech devices do not send enough information for triple taps to register properly with this method. [Bug 905609] Re: Pinnacle PCTV USB DVBT adapter doesn't work
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? [Bug 906370] [NEW] merging generated conflicts which were resolved in merged branch
Public bug reported: I have two branches of gcc-4.6 packaging for my daily builds of gcc- linaro (native and cross): lp:~hrw/ubuntu/precise/gcc-4.6/gcc-linaro-ci-cross (named 'ci-cross' later) lp:~hrw/ubuntu/precise/gcc-4.6/gcc-linaro-ci-native (named 'ci-native' later) In previous week I merged lp:ubuntu/gcc-4.6 into 'ci-native' one and got some merge conflicts (which were expected). I handled them and commited (rev 72). Then I made few other commits and finally pushed branch to server (rev 76). Today I decided to merge 'ci-native' into 'ci-cross' to get this merge and all fixes at once. So I branched 'ci-cross' (rev 82) and then called bzr merge lp:~hrw/ubuntu/precise/gcc-4.6/gcc-linaro-ci-native. Bazaar told me that this is 'criss-cross' merge and pointed to documentation. Merge resulted in 8 files conflicted which was a surprise for me cause I expected bzr to know that those conflicts were fixed by hand already in 'ci-native' branch. I tried bzr merge --lca and bzr merge --weave but each time I had same 8 conflicted files. Now I am wasting my time resolving all conflicts again and I am happy that I do not have more such branches. --- ApportVersion: 1.90-0ubuntu1 Architecture: amd64 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 InstallationMedia: Kubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx - Release Candidate amd64 (20100419.1) Package: bzr 2.5.0~beta4-1ubuntu1 PackageArchitecture: all ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.2.0-4.10-generic 3.2.0-rc5 Tags: precise Uname: Linux 3.2.0-4-generic x86_64 UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) UserGroups: adm admin cdrom dialout libvirtd lpadmin plugdev sambashare vboxusers video ** Affects: bzr (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-collected precise ** Tags added: apport-collected precise ** Description changed: I have two branches of gcc-4.6 packaging for my daily builds of gcc- linaro (native and cross): lp:~hrw/ubuntu/precise/gcc-4.6/gcc-linaro-ci-cross (named 'ci-cross' later) lp:~hrw/ubuntu/precise/gcc-4.6/gcc-linaro-ci-native(named 'ci-native' later) In previous week I merged lp:ubuntu/gcc-4.6 into 'ci-native' one and got some merge conflicts (which were expected). [Bug 894493] Re: After I use Xine Unity 2d panel become invisible
Turning off compositing does not change anything: gconftool-2 --set --type bool /apps/metacity/general/compositing_manager false But turning it back on again restores the visibility: gconftool-2 --set --type bool /apps/metacity/general/compositing_manager true xwininfo -all returns interesting.
