[Bug 829706] Re: It's difficult to select a document file from a list of document files in unity.

2012-02-12 Thread Mark S
Being able to right-click a launcher icon to go straight to one of
multiple documents would be a HUGE productivity boost for me, and, I
believe, make Unity a much better desktop. When I have to use Windows, I
get used to having this useful functionality and then when I'm back in
Unity I become exasperated. Is there any reason why this is not a good
idea?

[Bug 931084] [NEW] expand/collapse triangle doesn't get the click after changing status, until you move the mouse cursor

2012-02-12 Thread matteo sisti sette
Public bug reported:

Steps to reproduce:
- open a folder in Nautilus
- be sure it's a (or navigate to a) folder which contains folders which in turn
contain something
- select the list view
- click on the triangle next to a folder so as to expand its subtree
- click again on the triangle (be sure you don't move the cursor before you
click)

= expected: the folder's subtree should now collapse
= observed: it doesn't

You need to move the mouse cursor a little bit before you click again,
then it _will_ work.

[Bug 931098] [NEW] BUG: unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at 00000004

2012-02-12 Thread Paul White
Public bug reported:

I was transferring some files from my PC to my mobile phone which was
connected by USB cable. After I had finished I right mouse-clicked on
the drive icon in the Unity launcher and selected Safely Remove.

My display corrupted severely and froze. For a while I could not change
to a tty with Ctrl-Alt-F1 etc. Eventually I found I could and when I
switched back to Unity with Ctrl-Alt-F7 I found that my display was
normal and there was a prompt to say that my system may be unstable.

[Bug 556663] Re: no sound on Presario B1900

2012-02-12 Thread Mark Rijckenberg
Hi,

Can someone from the ALSA development team please take a look at the
output from the following thread?

https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-
driver/+question/186698

It contains boatloads of debugging information concerning the ALC260
codec on another Presario B1900 computer, including a codecgraph .svg
file.

Joey is still trying to get the speakers to work.

Regards,

Mark

[Bug 927097] Re: C++ apps will fail to compile with current bluez package

2012-02-12 Thread Adrien Cunin
For the record, sitplus FTBFS because of this bug.

Regarding how to fix it,
Debian applied this patch:
http://patch-tracker.debian.org/patch/series/view/bluez/4.98-2/09_fix_compile_with_C++.patch
 ; but the following thread:
http://marc.info/?l=linux-bluetoothm=132644310919279w=2 indicates that it may
not be a good idea to apply it.
The patch you are proposing has been discussed on the upstream mailing-list as
well, as far as I can see. Has the discussion come to the conclusion that we
can safely apply it now?

[Bug 927097] Re: C++ apps will fail to compile with current bluez package

2012-02-12 Thread Rohan Garg
I believe so, I had a discussion with Patrick Ohly about the patch and
other distro packagers were CC'd in the email. The only reason I filed
the bug was that Patrick assured me that the patch will land in upstream
soon. Please also see :
http://lists.syncevolution.org/pipermail/syncevolution/2012-February/003385.html

And since debian has already applied the patch, I believe they've
verified that it's good at their end as well. I think it'll be best if
someone could merge the package from debian.

Ah, might I add, I believe the patch I attached is a better version
since it uses ifdef's to ensure that the code works as expected for C
and introduces changes only for C++

the temporary solution I am using is I opened it and have the settings
how they need to be to open. run the following to stop any
configuration changes being made (note you mus be in your ~/.zsnes
folder

sudo chown root zsnesl.cfg; sudo chmod a-w zsnesl.cfg; sudo chattr +i
zsnesl.cfg

this will lock it into opening how you last opened it...

note: on first open when your setting your preferences (before you lock
it down), navigate to your roms folder so it will open there from now on

[Bug 931114] [NEW] Regression in html5 video support in FF 10 11

2012-02-12 Thread zeitkunst
Public bug reported:

I have observed a regression in HTML5 video support in Firefox 10 and
11. With Firefox 9, HTML5 videos encoded in either Theora or webm
played flawlessly. With Firefox 10 and 11, the video component will
randomly stop playing, while the audio component will continue. This
occurs no matter if I'm watching the video in a window or fullscreen.
I've observed this on locally-produced HTML pages as well as the HTML5
test videos on the Kaltura site. Note that my audio is being routed
through jack, which might explain why the audio continues playing while
the video stops. Firefox itself does not become unresponsive, however
the HTML5 component does.

This is a severe regression for me and makes it impossible to embed
HTML5 videos in the HTML presentations I produce.

What I expect to happen: HTML5 videos encoded in Ogg Theora/webm to play
flawlessly

What actually happens: HTML5 videos encoded in Ogg Theora/webm randomly
stop playing

[Bug 930173] Re: SANE_STATUS_IO_ERROR

2012-02-12 Thread Michael Nagel
Hi there,

thank you for filing this bug and showing your interest in Simple Scan!

This seems to be a Hardware Issue, i.e. Simple Scan does not support
your scanner perfectly -- or possibly not at all.

Unfortunately such problems happen more often then they should, and while it
might indeed be a problem with Simple Scan, in our experience, most of the time
it is not.
This is why we prepared a check-list at [1] that will let you find out whether
or not it really is a problem with Simple Scan and what your options are in
either case.

Please read that list and tell us how you decided to proceed. I will set
this bug to Incomplete, so a friendly robot will expire this bug in 60
days if you do not respond. However, we would really prefer to hear back
from you!

Best Regards
Michael

[Bug 931122] [NEW] 3D performance is very bad

2012-02-12 Thread Oded Arbel
Public bug reported:

I'm using a couple of computers based on Intel DQ35JO board, which has a
GMA graphics chip:

$ lspci | grep VGA
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 82Q35 Express Integrated
Graphics Controller (rev 02)

Running any sort of 3D graphics is incredibly slow, for example:

$ glxgears -fullscreen
Running synchronized to the vertical refresh. The framerate should be
approximately the same as the monitor refresh rate.
51 frames in 5.1 seconds = 10.010 FPS

which is rather good comparing to the behavior of glxgears without
fullscreen and maximized (showing the window borders and panels) which
is aroudn 5 FPS.

This is the same for both Unity 2D, standard 3D Unity (in which also
just moving windows around is painful) and KDE (in which everything is
ever slower which makes KDE practically unusable).

I've had the same behavior since I installed Ubuntu 11.10, and its the
same now with the 12.04 alpha.

Here's the full output of lspci:

I have two identical machines running 12.04 - one is using the standard
Ubuntu (with KDE installed as an option) and the other is installed with
Kubuntu. When I run glxgears on the Kubuntu machine, its not running in
synchronized mode and the fullscreen framerate is reported around 50
FPS, though the movement is almost as choppy as in the Ubuntu machine
(so I don't understand what is going on). In the Kubuntu machine, KDE
can't do OpenGL desktop effects at all - I get errors when I try to
enable that, though glxgears does work.

A slightly older machine (running chipset 82801H - ICH8 family) works
fine.

[Bug 931037] Re: Menu Bug in Endgame:Singularity

2012-02-12 Thread Sebastian Bator
I could verify the issue under 11.10. Loading MenuBug.sav results in
permanent popping up of the menu, whereas other saves function as
expected.

@justin: Thanks for the comment, much appreciated.

the AC-3 encoder could at least give better error messages. Auto
adjusting bitrate would be also great.
