RC_CORE=m (= LIRC=m)

[Bug 931493] [NEW] ubuntu one deleted all files from the server after upgrading to precise pangolin

2012-02-13 Thread Sayantan Das
Public bug reported:

Hi,

I upgraded to Ubuntu precise pangolin alpha builds a week back. The upgrade was
successful and the system is stable. However, today when I checked onto ubuntu
one online account, it shows me i have 0 MB of files. This came as a surprise
to me as I had approximately 500 MB of documents uploaded into the server.
The documents folder was previously synced to ubuntu one in ubuntu 11.10. And I
fail to understand how, automatically it can delete the documents from the
server ?

I am using precise pangolin (12.04) and I can see that there are three
different UIs when the system asks for a password. Could it be possible
to keep a consistent UI for the experience to be smooth?

[Bug 887756] Re: Black screen on boot with sandy bridge processor

2012-02-13 Thread Alan Goldblatt
Update: I installed the 3.2.0 Kernel and now the proprietary graphics
work. Apparently the bug in the Sandybridge Kernel modules has been
fixed as of 3.2. I can boot without the nomodeset, etc., and the
graphics show as Intel Sandybridge Desktop. Unfortunately, I still
can't run Compiz, so I'm still stuck with Unity 2d. If I try to run 3d
I get to the desktop, but the panel, launcher, desktop icons, etc. never
load, and there's very little functionality. There is (apparently --
according to a number of forums) an incompatibility between Sandybridge
and Compiz. There's talk of workarounds involving installing xorg-
edgers and removing some modules that Compiz currently blacklists
(Compiz blacklists a number of Sandybridge modules), but I haven't tried
that yet.

[Bug 766803] Re: compiz crashed with SIGSEGV in pthread_mutex_lock()

2012-02-13 Thread Chauncellor
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to
look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many
changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem
may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if
you could test it on a currently supported Ubuntu version. When you test
it and it is still an issue, kindly upload the updated logs by running
apport-collect bug # and any other logs that are relevant for this
particular issue.

[Bug 823214] Re: window icon is blurred, if it has not desktop file

2012-02-13 Thread The Aviv
I am experiencing the same problem with a Java application I am
writting. The application icon appears blurred. I tried using the same
icon as Firefox, and it still appeared blurred. I attached a screenshot
showing the two icons next to each other. In the screenshot, the first
Firefox icon belongs to the browser; the second Firefox icon, just below
it, belongs to the Java application. They both use the same PNG image,
but the icon of the Java application appears blurred.

I think it is reasonable to consider the issue a Unity bug.

[Bug 931229] Re: lxc containers do not retain configured ip on container reboot

2012-02-13 Thread Serge Hallyn
Thanks for reporting this bug. If you check ifconfig you'll notice the
hwaddr also changes. You can specify an hwaddr in the config file with

lxc.network.hwaddr=16:73:40:b3:ef:f5

Should we simply auto-generate an hwaddr (if none is specified in the
optional user-provided config file)?

[Bug 806784] Re: Oneiric installer crash: not enough space to unpack kernel headers, different size needed for btrfs

2012-02-13 Thread perpetualrabbit
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 220961 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/220961

I just downloaded the oneiric server iso, and tried to install oneiric
on a KVM virtual machine. It fails with writing the linux-
image-3.0.0-16-server package, where it tries to write some kernel
modules (.ko file). By switching to virtual console 4, I could see the
error message, which is: No space left on device.

This is in error, as there was plenty of space on all of the filesystems. All
had the btrfs, except /boot, which had ext4.
In the end, I could finish the installation by letting the installer choose its
own partitioning, and choice of filesystems.
This time around, the system has lvm, with separate filesystems for /, /usr,
/var, /tmp and /boot. And swap.
/boot is now ext2, and all others except swap are ext4.

But now, after installing and logging into the system, apt-get dist-
upgrade fails with the same error: No space left on device. Again in the
same linux-image package.

So now I cannot dist-upgrade. So it does not seem like a btrfs error to
me, since the same erroneous `No space left on device´ now happens
again. No filesystem is full, /var is only 14% full, and all others less
than that.

I think the error is somewhere in the apt system, maybe in the way it
calculates disk space, or possibly the error is in the linux-image
package itself.

I really do not understand why this bug is closed and marked Won't Fix.
After all, how is it possible to succesfully install if you simply let
the installer run its course? It will fail every time.

Seems like an extremely CRITICAL bug to me: it prevents you from
installing oneiric server.

[Bug 931447] Re: BUG: unable to handle kernel paging request at 00004600

2012-02-13 Thread Joseph Salisbury
Do you know if this issue happened in a previous version or kernel, or
is this a new issue?

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? It
will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v3.3 kernel[1] (Not a kernel in the daily directory). Once you've
tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing'
tag(Only that one tag, please leave the other tags). This can be done by
clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom
of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text.

If this bug is fixed by the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream-KERNEL-VERSION'. For example, if kernel
version 3.3-rc2 fixed the issue, the tag would be: 'kernel-fixed-
upstream-v3.3-rc2'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:
'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot,
please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'.
Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as
Confirmed.

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds .

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as
Confirmed.

Thanks in advance.

[Bug 931220] Re: lxc.conf upstart job fails to spawn containers at boot time

2012-02-13 Thread Serge Hallyn
Interesting, I didn't get this in my original testing of the upstart
job.

Do you know which file is open? (ls -l /proc/pid-of-lxc-start/fd
should show it)

The lxc.conf upstart job could, I suppose, explicitly close all fds
under 1024, but in my opinion this is simply a bug in upstart. It
should not start jobs with open fds. SELinux would prevent jobs from
starting too.

[Bug 220961] Re: [MASTER] ubiquity crashes instead of notifying the user of not enough disk space

2012-02-13 Thread perpetualrabbit
It crashes every time with installing the same package: linux-image-3.0.0-.
I tried with btrfs, and my own custom partitioning. This did not work so I
tried letting the installer choose lvm and its preferred choices of filesystem
sizes and type:

/ 322 MB, ext4
/boot228 MB, ext2
/usr 5635 MB, ext4
/var 2816 MB, ext4
/tmp 368 MB, ext4
/home 5780 MB, ext4

See? no btrfs this time. The installation succeeded this time, but after
logging into the system, and trying apt-get dist-upgrade, it fails again with
`No space left on device´, and in the same linux-image-3.0.0-16 package.
So it seems to me that the bug is not btrfs, but rather in the linux-image
package, or possibly in the apt system.

[Bug 929545] Re: Hyper-V: PV Drivers for Ubuntu guests running on Hyper-V lose root device to ata_piix

2012-02-13 Thread Mike Sterling
This doesn't change what the VM boots from - we still require that the
system boot from an IDE disk. What this does enable is our hv_storvsc
driver to control the root device, which uses hv_vmbus to communicate
with dom0. hv_storvsc and hv_blkvsc were merged upstream a while back,
and hv_storvsc is a generic block device that handles both IDE and SCSI
traffic.

[Bug 873482] Re: elantech: Touchpad always reports 3 finger tap as 1 finger tap

2012-02-13 Thread Jason Conti
This does currently work in 12.04 but note that from the changelog for
1.5.0-2ubuntu1~nomt1:

  * Temporarily drop multitouch patches for X server 1.11 bringup:
+ 116_xi2_1.patch
+ 117_gestures.patch
+ 119_active_area_touches.patch
+ 120_active_touches_num_fingers.patch
+ 121_semi-mt_num_fingers.patch
+ 123_order_ProcessTouch_for_numFingers.patch

These patches are still disabled as of 1.5.0+git20120210-0ubuntu1 which I
haven't tested yet but
plan on testing later today (and I imagine will still work). We will need to
wait and see if and when
those patches get integrated.

This bug affects me. I cannot get any USB keyboard to select menu
options in recovery mode. I am using a Gigabyte P55M-UD2 motherboard
which fortunately does have one PS2 port as a backup, so I was able to
use an old keyboard to select options from the recovery menu. Once
continue with normal boot was selected and it booted to the console, I
was able to use my USB keyboard as normal.
