[Bug 936773] [NEW] Incorrect result from localeconv()->int_*_sep_by_space in at least en_US.UTF-8 locale
Public bug reported: In the en_US.UTF-8 locale, int_p_sep_by_space and int_n_sep_by_space return 1, defined by C99§7.11.2.1p5 as "If the currency symbol and sign string are adjacent, a space separates them from the value; otherwise, a space separates the currency symbol from the value." However, int_curr_symbol returns "USD " (note the trailing space), meaning that C++'s money parsing functions can only parse strings like "USD 1.23" (note 2 spaces). From some failures in libc++'s test suite, I suspect that many other locales have the same problem, but I haven't tested them directly. Here's a test program and its output: $ cat test.cc #include #include #include #include struct my_money_get : std::money_get { }; std::ostream& operator<<(std::ostream& out, std::ios_base::iostate state) { if (state == std::ios_base::goodbit) return out << "goodbit"; const char* sep = ""; if (state & std::ios_base::badbit) { out << sep << "badbit"; sep = "|"; } if (state & std::ios_base::failbit) { out << sep << "failbit"; sep = "|"; } if (state & std::ios_base::eofbit) { out << sep << "eofbit"; sep = "|"; } const char en_us[] = "en_US.UTF-8"; void test(const std::string& test_string) { std::ios ios(0); ios.imbue(std::locale(en_us)); long double result = 1.2345; my_money_get mget; std::ios_base::iostate err = std::ios_base::goodbit; const char* iter = mget.get(test_string.data(), test_string.data() + test_string.size(), /*International=*/true, ios, err, result); std::cout << "'" << test_string << "' reads as: '" << result << "'\n"; std::cout << "And advances the iterator from " << (const void*)test_string.data() << " to " << (const void*)iter << ".\n"; std::cout << "And leaves the stream in state " << err << ".\n"; } int main() { test("1.23"); test("USD 1.23"); test("USD 1.23"); setlocale(LC_ALL, en_us); const lconv* lc = localeconv(); // In C99, the sep_by_space values mean: // The values of p_sep_by_space, n_sep_by_space, int_p_sep_by_space, // and int_n_sep_by_space are interpreted according to the following: // 0 No space separates the currency symbol and value. // 1 If the currency symbol and sign string are adjacent, a space separates them from the // value; otherwise, a space separates the currency symbol from the value. // 2 If the currency symbol and sign string are adjacent, a space separates them; // otherwise, a space separates the sign string from the value. std::cout << "lc->currency_symbol == '" << lc->currency_symbol << "'\n"; std::cout << "lc->p_sep_by_space == " << int(lc->p_sep_by_space) << "\n"; std::cout << "lc->n_sep_by_space == " << int(lc->n_sep_by_space) << "\n"; std::cout << "lc->int_curr_symbol == '" << lc->int_curr_symbol << "'\n"; std::cout << "lc->int_p_sep_by_space == " << int(lc->int_p_sep_by_space) << "\n"; std::cout << "lc->int_n_sep_by_space == " << int(lc->int_n_sep_by_space) << "\n"; } $ g++ -g3 -Wall test.cc -o test && ./test '1.23' reads as: '0' And advances the iterator from 0x2566028 to 0x2566028. Re: [Bug 932033] Re: copying files to USB 2.0 drive is damn slow
In theory, the max usb 2.0 bulk transfer speed is 52MB/sec[1], also for usb mass storage device, there are CBW(31byte), CSW(13byte) and some control info in DATA packet, so the actual usb mass storage performance is smaller than 52MB. Generally usb device can not respond quickly enough to keep pace with usb host controller, which may degrade transfer performance much. I have seen many cheap usb disks with only less than 10MB writing performance. Also I seldom saw the usb mass storage device with above 40MB/sec transfer performance. So it is difficult to say it is a software problem or hardware problem, but if you are interested in the problem, you may use usbmon[2] to trace the transfer procedures so that we can see where the bad performance problem is. As a result, whenever any key was removed, the unicast key 0 would be removed, causing a complete connection loss after the second rekey (the first doesn't cause a key removal). [Bug 756901] Re: compiz crashed with SIGSEGV in std::vector::Interface, std::allocator::Interface> >::_M_insert_aux()
As I recall, this was a compiz crash while changing settings in ccsm, during beta testing of 11.04 - so the crash report was generated automatically by the system. Right now I'm running 11.10, so apport does not show any crashes when they occur. However, compiz is overall more stable. It's still possible to cause compiz to restart while playing with the settings, but I have to try a lot harder than before. Just to see if I could, I enabled the desktop cube. I managed to do this, although it requires temporarily disabling the Unity plugin, which causes a compiz restart. The cube is buggy - windows flicker in and out while changing workspaces - but obviously Unity was never meant to work with the cube. (This test led to the following observation while trying to return to my original settings: it is necessary to disable the 'rotate cube' plugin before disabling the 'desktop cube' plugin. Trying to disable the desktop cube first causes ccsm to segfault.) So to sum up, there's a segfault with ccsm that probably shouldn't happen, but that's a different bug. I can still make compiz restart by playing with settings, but the system recovers. My guess is that the original bug that generated this report was addressed. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/756901 Title: compiz crashed with SIGSEGV in std::vector::Interface, std::allocator::Interface> >::_M_insert_aux() To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/compiz-core/+bug/756901/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 925260] Re: Update Manager does not open, but the icon appears on the dash when updates are available
If its only a problem on that machine then its not a bug in the OS. I cannot produce the issue on my machine either. You would find better help with this in the forums or the answers part of launchpad. Closing as invalid. --- Ubuntu Bug Squad volunteer triager http://wiki.ubuntu.com/BugSquad ** Changed in: update-manager (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/925260 Title: Update Manager does not open, but the icon appears on the dash when updates are available To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/update-manager/+bug/925260/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
