[Bug 985777] [NEW] gnome-shell: disabling wifi in VAIO E series in network menu makes impossible to enable it again.
Public bug reported: Test on: VAIO E series (VPCEB15EL) Reproduce: 1. make sure hardware switch for wifi is on. 2. disable wifi in network menu of gnome-shell 3. enable wifi in network menu of gnome-shell <- this is not possible, because it says it's blocked by hardware switch. 4. How to unlock after that: enter to terminal and execute: "rfkill unblock wifi". This should NOT happen, for someone who disables it for an airplane travel or other circumstances this will render the laptop wifi unusable (no reboot and no network-manager service restart will fix it) because no normal people will figure out to unblock it through rfkill. This is critical because it may render a business trip with Ubuntu a failure. In addition updates query format for IPs when accessing ARIN. [Development Fix] These issues were fixed in 5.0.14 of whois. [Stable Fix] Since most of the fixes are covered in updating from 5.0.11 to 5.0.14, a backport of these version provides all fixes. [Test Case] 1) whois google.hr (works on precise, not on oneiric) 2) whois registry.sx google.com.pe 3) whois 74.125.113.102 if we use this command in precise we see that whois adds "n +" to the query, while in oneiric it doesn't add that. [Regression Potential] Most of the changes are fairly minimal, although any changes to mkpasswd should be investigated. Problem Description: whois in oneiric can't query .hr/.sx/.pe TLDs. [Bug 951463] Re: Eye of Gnome crashs when saving a rotated image
New things happens. First of all it keep giving error (not crashing) When I rotate an image and File - Save "EOG" says: (It says it can't save in spanish) No se puede guardar document.jpg Error interpreting JPEG image file: eog-save-DI5JDW Maximum supported image dimension is 65500 pixels. May not an bug, just a limitation (doesn't happens on PNGs) However, if you rotate the image and close EOG, "Do you want to save..?" And you save it, there are no errors, it just works. I think I located the problem. It seems when a file:// entry is in sources.list, Tasks no longer show up properly in apt-cache show, even if ports.ubuntu.com is in the file list. Removing the file entry, and rerunning apt-get update allows tasksel to properly work. [Bug 973491] Re: nautilus popup menu highlighting using copy and paste incorrect
Ok, so upstream says that about the issue "so this bug happens because GTK messes up when CSS properties are set to inherit from the parent by default, the color property is set to inherit so you can say GtkMenuitem { color: green } and all the widgets inside the menuitem will be green (labels, symolbic icons and so on) without having to set it explicitly for all of them color is the most important of the inherit-by-default properties (the font properties are like that, too, but they usually never change) so the way to work around this is to explicitly assign a color to labels or to labels inside menuitems" ** Package changed: lightdm (Ubuntu Precise) => light-themes (Ubuntu Precise) ** No longer affects: light-themes (Ubuntu) ** No longer affects: light-themes (Ubuntu Precise) ** Also affects: light-themes Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/973491 Title: nautilus popup menu highlighting using copy and paste incorrect To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gtk/+bug/973491/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 662971] Re: wifi often does not resume after hibernate (rt2860)
Sergio Callegari, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. Maverick reached EOL on April 10, 2012. Please see this document for currently supported Ubuntu releases: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases We were wondering if this is still an issue in a supported release? If so, could you please provide the information following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingKernelSuspendHibernateResume ? As well, can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ . However, note you can only test Suspend, not Hibernate, when using a LiveCD. If the issue remains, run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal) as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report. apport-collect -p linux Additionally, if you could try to reproduce this with the upstream mainline kernel that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs- upstream-testing' text. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'. If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'. If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'. Please let us know your results. Thanks in advance. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/662971 Title: wifi often does not resume after hibernate (rt2860) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/662971/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 985358] Re: installation crash (migrating documents) none selected
No Brian there was not a Windows partition at all on the HDD. It is a testing HDD that I use only when iso-testing. I even removed all partitions and had nothing but free unallocated space and tried a full drive install that failed in the migration of documents and settings. Strange huh? I believe on the initial installation attempt I did have a full drive encrypted install left on the HDD. I will save the 20120418 spin and continue to test the new spins to check for improvement. This same type of crash happen earlier in the Beta 2 testing that cleared up in a new spin. I thought about maybe a badly created USB but Live session and manual install worked fine. [Bug 985755] [NEW] /lib/init/upstart-job does not handle lucid->precise upgrade scenario
Public bug reported: /lib/init/upstart-job was recently changed (bug 974147) such that it now calls 'initctl show-config -e $JOB'. This works fine for precise systems and for oneiric->precise upgrades, but does not work for lucid->precise upgrades since 'show-config' is not a legitimate initctl command on the version of init running on lucid at the time of the precise upgrade (0.6.5-8) since the 'show-config' command was added in Upstart 1.3. /lib/init/upstart-job needs to be changed to handle the lucid upgrade path scenario by either checking the running version of init or more intelligently parsing the output of 'initctl show-config -e $JOB' since currently, an upgrade from lucid to precise will cause all upgraded packages containing upstart jobs to *not* restart the services. ** Affects: upstart (Ubuntu) Importance: High Status: Triaged ** Tags: rls-p-tracking -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/985755 Title: /lib/init/upstart-job does not handle lucid->precise upgrade scenario To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/upstart/+bug/985755/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
