[Bug 985776] [NEW] While logging in, ugly-looking tiling of lightgdm-background

2012-04-19 Thread Kalsan
Public bug reported:

I have two screens, left 1280x1024 and right 1280x800. When I log in
throught lightgdm, between the login-screen and my desktop is shown, the
background of lightgdm is shown tiled (see attached screenshot). It
happens every time after login, right after having activated multi-
screen and right before the desktop is loaded. This is quite ugly. Maybe
you feel like changing that :-)

[Bug 985777] [NEW] gnome-shell: disabling wifi in VAIO E series in network menu makes impossible to enable it again.

2012-04-19 Thread Vladimir Hidalgo
Public bug reported:

Test on: VAIO E series (VPCEB15EL)

Reproduce:

1. make sure hardware switch for wifi is on.
2. disable wifi in network menu of gnome-shell
3. enable wifi in network menu of gnome-shell <- this is not possible, because
it says it's blocked by hardware switch.
4. How to unlock after that: enter to terminal and execute: "rfkill unblock
wifi".

This should NOT happen, for someone who disables it for an airplane
travel or other circumstances this will render the laptop wifi unusable
(no reboot and no network-manager service restart will fix it) because
no normal people will figure out to unblock it through rfkill.

This is critical because it may render a business trip with Ubuntu a
failure.

Ok I'll start the backport process. Building it now.

** Description changed:

  [Impact]
Fixes issues using whois with .hr/.sx/.pe TLDs. In addition updates query
format for IPs when accessing ARIN.

  [Development Fix]
These issues were fixed in 5.0.14 of whois.

  [Stable Fix]
Since most of the fixes are covered in updating from 5.0.11 to 5.0.14, a
backport of these version provides all fixes.

  [Test Case]
  1) whois google.hr (works on precise, not on oneiric)
  2) whois registry.sx google.com.pe
  3) whois 74.125.113.102
if we use this command in precise we see that whois adds "n +" to the
query, while
in oneiric it doesn't add that.

  [Regression Potential]
Most of the changes are fairly minimal, although any changes to mkpasswd
should be investigated.

  Problem Description:
whois in oneiric can't query .hr/.sx/.pe TLDs. In addition the query format
for ARIN is different than in precise.

  Version affected:
  Current Oneiric Version: 5.0.11ubuntu2

[Bug 951463] Re: Eye of Gnome crashs when saving a rotated image

2012-04-19 Thread Boris Da Silva Perez
New things happens. First of all it keep giving error (not crashing) When I
rotate an image and File - Save "EOG" says:
(It says it can't save in spanish)
No se puede guardar document.jpg
Error interpreting JPEG image file: eog-save-DI5JDW
Maximum supported image dimension is 65500 pixels.
May not an bug, just a limitation (doesn't happens on PNGs)

However, if you rotate the image and close EOG, "Do you want to save..?"
And you save it, there are no errors, it just works.

Answering to Tom, I have a scanned image wich I used to test all that today.
http://ubuntuone.com/3eY9Gm2EWoL1xvOJVNqX6C

I have tested the PPA package and has been a crash again, it just doesnt fix
the problem.
Cheers

I've been working on a fix for the tasks not showing issue. Does
removing the local source also fix the exit(100) from aptitude?

[Bug 985737] Re: Tasks selected in oem-config are downloaded, but not installed, or configured ...

2012-04-19 Thread Michael Casadevall
I think I located the problem. It seems when a file:// entry is in
sources.list, Tasks no longer show up properly in apt-cache show, even
if ports.ubuntu.com is in the file list. Removing the file entry, and
rerunning apt-get update allows tasksel to properly work. While the file
entry was in place, commands to install seeds such as apt-get install
openssh-server^ simply failed with package not found.

** Description changed:

When doing manual testing of omap4, with internet available (to work
around #985280), packages are downloaded, but not installed or
configured. I can't find the downloaded debs anywhere, the selected
tasks are not installed (tasks selected were SSH Server, LAMP, and
PostgreSQL), and no debconf prompts were displayed. This is a release-
  critical bug.

  Steps to Reproduce:
  1. Do normal installation of armhf+omap4
  2. Select any tasks in tasksel
  3. Conclude the installation
  4. Confirm that resulting packages are not installed

  Expected Results:
  1. Tasks installed and debconf prompts displayed
+
+ Addition: The file:// entry in sources.list seems to be responsible for
+ the breakage. While the preinstall pool is in /etc/apt/sources.list,
+ tasksel will fail to install any and all tasks, as well as trying to
+ install tasks via apt-get such as apt-get install openssh-server^

[Bug 824231] Re: Software Center doesn't show LMMS in Sound/Video

2012-04-19 Thread Paul Giblock
Hello. LMMS already includes a desktop file lmms.desktop.
Additionally, LMMS's "make install" target copies the lmms.desktop file
to $INSTALL_PREFIX/share/applications/lmms.desktop. On my computer,
"Linux Multimedia Studio" is available under Gnome's "Sound & Video"
category.

Therefore, I believe this issue is the responsibility of the packager
and not upstream.

[Bug 973491] Re: nautilus popup menu highlighting using copy and paste incorrect

2012-04-19 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Cimi, do you think would could use that workaround in the theme for
nautilus? That's where the issue is the most visible...

I'm not really happy about it but upstream seems to think that there is
good chance the issue will not get fixed in GTK 3.4 since it would
impact on performances which are already not so good in 3.4, they plan
to improve things and fix that in 3.6 :-(

what this does is it explicitly defines a color for all widgets in

[Bug 973491] Re: nautilus popup menu highlighting using copy and paste incorrect

2012-04-19 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Ok, so upstream says that about the issue

"so this bug happens because GTK messes up when CSS properties are set to
inherit from the parent
by default, the color property is set to inherit
so you can say GtkMenuitem { color: green } and all the widgets inside the
menuitem will be green (labels, symolbic icons and so on)
without having to set it explicitly for all of them
color is the most important of the inherit-by-default properties (the font
properties are like that, too, but they usually never change)
so the way to work around this is to explicitly assign a color to labels
 or to labels inside menuitems"

[Bug 985737] Re: Tasks selected in oem-config are downloaded, but not installed, or configured ...

2012-04-19 Thread Michael Casadevall
I actually think tasksel is actually completely broken on armhf+omap4 at
this point. Running tasksel after manually updating packages just fails
with tasksel: aptitude failed (100).

Running tasksel on x86 after installation seems to mostly work, but I
found a separate bug related to that which I'll file seperately.

[Bug 95840] Re: Edit Menus closes Main Menu unexpectedly

2012-04-19 Thread Scott Wimer
When I encountered this situation, Apport reports this as a duplicate of
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/947119, a bug that I can't find.

My ~/.local is owned by the correct user. However, ~/.config/menus is
not, that is root owned.

The only entry in ~/.config/menus/ is a directory "applications-merged".
The ~/.config/menus/applications-merged/ directory contains a single
(zero-byte) file (also owned by root): xdg-desktop-menu-dummy.menu.

After chown -R on ~/.config/ the Main Menu application starts fine.

[Bug 662971] Re: wifi often does not resume after hibernate (rt2860)

2012-04-19 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Sergio Callegari, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better.
Maverick reached EOL on April 10, 2012.
Please see this document for currently supported Ubuntu releases:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases

We were wondering if this is still an issue in a supported release? If
so, could you please provide the information following
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingKernelSuspendHibernateResume ? As well,
can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images
are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ . However, note
you can only test Suspend, not Hibernate, when using a LiveCD. If the
issue remains, run the following command in the development release
from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal) as it will
automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this
report.

apport-collect -p linux

Additionally, if you could try to reproduce this with the upstream
mainline kernel that would be great. It will allow additional upstream
developers to examine the issue. Refer to
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the
upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This
can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag
located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-
upstream-testing' text.

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:
'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not
boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'.

Please let us know your results. Thanks in advance.

[Bug 985761] [NEW] Please sync passenger from Debian wheezy

2012-04-19 Thread Malte S. Stretz
Public bug reported:

The version of mod_passenger available from the Ubuntu repositories is
quite outdated, many of the options in the User Guide at
http://www.modrails.com/documentation/Users%20guide%20Apache.html#_configuring_phusion_passenger

[Bug 819900] Re: package pool implementation needs to update apt

2012-04-19 Thread Michael Casadevall
It should be noted that i386 suffers the same problem; no network
install, after installation, no package lists are available beyond what
is installed. This needs to be fixed in the installer, and not in the
image build system

Running tasksel on x86 after an offline installation only shows tasks
for packages manually installed until apt-get update is run manually.

Re: [Bug 985358] Re: installation crash (migrating documents) none selected

2012-04-19 Thread Greg Faith
No Brian there was not a Windows partition at all on the HDD. It is a
testing HDD that I use only when iso-testing. I even removed all
partitions and had nothing but free unallocated space and tried a full
drive install that failed in the migration of documents and settings.
Strange huh?

I believe on the initial installation attempt I did have a full drive
encrypted install left on the HDD. I will save the 20120418 spin and
continue to test the new spins to check for improvement. This same type of
crash happen earlier in the Beta 2 testing that cleared up in a new spin. I
thought about maybe a badly created USB but Live session and manual install
worked fine.

[Bug 985744] Crash report cannot be processed

2012-04-19 Thread Apport retracing service
Thank you for your report!

However, processing it in order to get sufficient information for the
developers failed (it does not generate a useful symbolic stack trace). This
might be caused by some outdated packages which were installed on your system
at the time of the report:

libssl1.0.0 version 1.0.1-4ubuntu1 required, but 1.0.1-4ubuntu2 is available
openssl version 1.0.1-4ubuntu1 required, but 1.0.1-4ubuntu2 is available

Please upgrade your system to the latest package versions. If you still
encounter the crash, please file a new report.

Thank you for your understanding, and sorry for the inconvenience!

[Bug 985755] [NEW] /lib/init/upstart-job does not handle lucid->precise upgrade scenario

2012-04-19 Thread James Hunt
Public bug reported:

/lib/init/upstart-job was recently changed (bug 974147) such that it now
calls 'initctl show-config -e $JOB'. This works fine for precise systems
and for oneiric->precise upgrades, but does not work for lucid->precise
upgrades since 'show-config' is not a legitimate initctl command on the
version of init running on lucid at the time of the precise upgrade
(0.6.5-8) since the 'show-config' command was added in Upstart 1.3.

/lib/init/upstart-job needs to be changed to handle the lucid upgrade
path scenario by either checking the running version of init or more
intelligently parsing the output of 'initctl show-config -e $JOB' since
currently, an upgrade from lucid to precise will cause all upgraded
packages containing upstart jobs to *not* restart the services.

** Affects: upstart (Ubuntu)
 Importance: High
 Status: Triaged

[Bug 985759] [NEW] feh anti-aliasing filter has 1-pixel offset

2012-04-19 Thread B Bobo
Public bug reported:

1. View an image in full-screen auto-zoom mode, i.e. feh -dZF

2. Press 'A' (not 'a') several times to toggle the anti-aliasing.

Expected result: The image should not move.

Actual result: The image shifts 1-pixel along the north-east/south-west
axis. The anti-aliasing hides all of row 0 and all of column 0 in the
image.

This bug has been confirmed to exist in feh-1.14.2 in Oneiric.

** Affects: feh (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New
