[Bug 1000244] Re: resolv.conf not populated because /etc/resolv.conf symlink was not created
It would be helpful if the administrator's own answer to resolvconf /linkify-resolvconf were recorded somewhere before the value of the latter gets reset to false in the postinst. Better yet, perhaps: Change the postinst so that it doesn't fiddle with the answer to linkify-resolvconf; instead create a new question, resolvconf/linkify-done, which gets sets from false to true on linkification and whose value being true prevents linkification being repeated on subsequent postinst runs. Even better would be to return to having an idempotent postinst; but then another solution would have to be found for the problem that the debconf-fiddling solved. Regarding #1000244 itself, we still have the unsolved mystery of how pdf could clean-install 12.04 and end up with no resolv.conf symlink (see comment #10). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1000244 Title: resolv.conf not populated because /etc/resolv.conf symlink was not created To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/resolvconf/+bug/1000244/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1006655] Re: Can't convert to vmdk with the streamOptimized subformat
Hi Serge, the bug was confirmed by Stefan Hajnoczi[1] and still in QEMU 1.1: "Unfortunately there has not been a fix. The cause of the bug is known and described in the email thread you linked. If someone has time to write a fix and test it, it could be merged. It won't be possible for QEMU 1.1 since the release is imminent." [Bug 993187] Re: ubuntu 12.04 completely freezes frequently while watching videos (Fixed by 3.3.6 kernel)
Since the bug many people are experiencing is related to hard freezes where you *cannot* move the mouse anymore or ssh the machine, maybe a new bug should be opened with these directions in the title, and then people should be directed from this thread to that thread instead. I confirm that I am still experiencing this issue with kernel 3.4.0-030400-generic, that there is no obvious trigger (most of the times it happens while the computer is on at night or while I am at work and nobody is using it), that it happened with KDE as well as Unity. I have a new Vostro V131 which, I believe, is a Sandy bridge(?). Are most of the people with *this* version of the bug running Intel systems with integrated graphic card? I would like to understand what we have in common. It would be a first step. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/993187 Title: ubuntu 12.04 completely freezes frequently while watching videos (Fixed by 3.3.6 kernel) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/993187/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1007988] [NEW] No Ubuntu or Windows boot after failed boot-repair
Public bug reported: The original problem was that Ubuntu would not launch on my dual boot machine. I got errors like: "failed command: read DMA EXT" and "status DRDY ERR" and "error UNC." Messages that made me wonder about hard drive failure. However, after I ran boot-repair (from an Ubuntu 12.04 live CD) and it failed, I lost my boot screen and couldn't get into Ubuntu or Windows. All the disk scans I ran showed no hard drive problems.. I got failure messages during the boot repair. [Bug 989900] Re: DNS Resolve Problems in Ubuntu 12.04
Having Network Manager set to use dnsmasq doesn't get along very well with Comcast, using the suggestion of commenting out the dnsmasq line from /etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf and restarting the network- manager service fixed the problem for me. As usual, the rolling list of crap I have to edit by hand to work around Ubuntu's bugs that they can't or won't fix or claim is not a bug continues to grow. Changing the problem to "Incomplete" instead of attempting to figure out what got you to the point where you have broken internet access for millions of Comcast users and hoping the problem fades off into the sunset with not another word spoken about it exemplifies everything I've come to expect from Ubuntu developers. How about reverting it to the way it was in 11.10, which wasn't broken, and letting the few users who actually NEED dnsmasq turn it on themselves. [Bug 1007976] Re: Windows jump to different workspace when switching workspace
I discovered that the above behavior no longer happens after lowering the screen resolution. My default resolution is 1366x768, so I used gnome-control-center to lower the resolution to 1360x768. After that, I can no longer reproduce the bug. I can even change back to the default resolution without the bug to reappear. But by logging out and back in, the bug appears again. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1007976 Title: Windows jump to different workspace when switching workspace To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/1007976/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 902970] Re: /dev/usb/lp0 missing after update to 11.10
There was an update to CUPs, so I thought I'd give this another try. Unfortunately after the update /dev/usb/lp0 no-longer appears. I have three different USB to parallel adaptors. All three show up on LSUSB, but none will cause any change to the /dev directory. Two use the Prolific PL2305 part (one of these was working in 10.x), one uses MosChip Semiconductor MCS7705 (I've never seen this one work). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/902970 Title: /dev/usb/lp0 missing after update to 11.10 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cups/+bug/902970/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1007976] [NEW] Windows jump to different workspace when switching workspace
Public bug reported: This bug happens in Gnome Classic (not in Unity) when the "Desktop Wall" plugin is enabled in Compiz. You must also have at least three workspaces/desktops horizontally in order to reproduce this. When a window is on workspace #2 or higher (horizontally), and you move to a workspace on the right of the window, the window jumps to the workspace on the far left (workspace #1). Steps to reproduce: 1) Choose "Gnome Classic" at the login screen and log in. 2) Say we have four workspaces horizontally (numbered 1 to 4). Place a window on workspace #2 (doesn't matter which application). 3) Use Ctrl+Alt+arrow right to move to workspace #3. Result: The window that was previously on workspace #2 is now on workspace #1. Expected result: The window should stay on workspace #2. [Bug 958174] Re: Wireless Mouse not registered on Startup or Reboot
When I first boot up and get to the log in screen my mouse doesn't respond. I'm using a fresh install of 12.04. I didn't have this problem when I upgrade from 11.10 to 12.04 (I had other problems which forced me to reinstall 12.04).
