[Bug 794242] Re: Festival in 11.04 exits when it shouldn't and doesn't when it should
Apparently festival configuration files have be customized to be "debian specific". Not sure what that means but I assume it was so it more easily integrated with whatever sound interface is in vogue at the moment. To do this, it plays a temporary raw audio file it creates using an external program called aplay. aplay is based on the ALSA sound interface and comes in the "alsa-utils" package. It appears aplay causes festival to terminate prematurely. To *me* it appears aplay inserts an EOF into festival's stdin/read stream. ALSA packages have had several changes recently. changed the second to last line in /etc/festival.scm FROM: (Parameter.set 'Audio_Command "aplay -q -c 1 -t raw -f s16 -r $SR $FILE") TO: (Parameter.set 'Audio_Command "play -q -c 1 -t s16 -r $SR $FILE") play comes in the "sox" package.SoX is very robust and well supported. note that "aplay" is also mentioned in other places in /usr/share/festival/*.scm files. When they come into use I am not sure. There probably is a better fix, but this does work. . -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/794242 Title: Festival in 11.04 exits when it shouldn't and doesn't when it should To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/festival/+bug/794242/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1030450] [NEW] After logout from user account greeter is not displayed
Public bug reported: After usual update I got the following problem: I have 3 users - one with sudo priviledges and 2 ordinary. When ordinary user logs out the black screen is shown - no greeter, just nothing. Doing "sudo stop lightdm; sudo start lightdm" doesn't help - the same black screen. Only restart helps. There is no such problem with sudo user - log out works just fine for it and greeter is shown. I have no idea how to locate the problem. [Bug 772616] Re: Suspend/Resume does not work
** Description changed: Suspend/Resume used to work correctly in Maverick (i.e. it worked 9 times out of 10 which I considered "correct"). Since the upgrade to Natty it works properly after a fresh reboot (i.e. for the first time), but it does not work for the second time, when the system was already suspended+resumed before. In this case during suspend time (after pressing the suspend button on the keyboard) the screen goes blank (black), it no longer responds to pings on the network, but the system does not stop (i.e. fans are still going, no "shutdown" feeling). The only way I could find to get the system out of this state is by pressing the power button for 5 secs which completely turns the PC off, and then I can turn it on again but this does not play very nicely with my raid array. - Pls let me know what other info is needed to resolve this issue. - - I am not sure if this belongs to the "linux" package or not but I could - not file a bug directly against Natty as a distro. + WORKAROUND: max_cpus=1 ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.04 Package: linux-generic 2.6.38.8.22 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.38-8.42-generic 2.6.38.2 Uname: Linux 2.6.38-8-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia AlsaVersion: Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.23. [Bug 877012] Re: [panel] on a multi monitor setup the panel length appears to be calculated with the screen in focus at the time of execution
All, Sorry to reopen this bug but it still exists in precise. I've attached a simplified patch that has sorted out the issue for me. It's not for inclusion but it's probably good for a quick lead on what a good solution would be. Also this handles both the initial geometry calculation when the panel is instantiated and also the situation when either screen sees a resolution change. I had not mentioned the second part of the problem before. ** Patch added: "add slot resize to update the geometry" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity-2d/+bug/877012/+attachment/3240484/+files/use_screen.patch ** Changed in: unity-2d (Ubuntu) Status: Expired => Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/877012 Title: [panel] on a multi monitor setup the panel length appears to be calculated with the screen in focus at the time of execution To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity-2d/+bug/877012/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 771333] Re: kernel hangs during boot without nolapic
Swen Kühnlein, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ . If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p linux Also, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please do not test the kernel in the daily folder, but the one all the way at the bottom. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream- testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. As well, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'. If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'. If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream', and comment as to why specifically you were unable to test it. Please let us know your results. Thanks in advance. Please note that when I hover the mouse pointer near the bubble, it begins to take on the color it should have. NOTE: If I use Ubuntu 2D it works perfectly, just as it should. But it so far has fixed my disappearing bass problem, and several other peoples' as well. (The important part: This is just a guess, but in /etc/pulse/daemon.conf set enable-lfe-remixing: no to yes and make sure it is not commented (has no semicolon in front of it). This bug is still current. GDM still freezes when the Kerberos password is expired.
