[Bug 759898] Re: Title bar of applications which start before Unity does, gets hidden under panel
This happens not only before Unity starts, it happens a lot in cases where switching between multi monitors. 1) Connect second(external) monitor 2) Position the outputs vertically 3) Start an application 4) Move it to area of Monitor B(below Monitor A) 5) Close the application while in Monotor B 6) Disconnect Monitor B 7) Start the application The application moves to a lower worspace and has the title bar under the top panel. Can't move it without closing the application. Window manager needs to take the title bar(decorations) into account when positioning the newly opened windows. Monitor A ir dimentioanlly smaller than Monotor B (as an example A = 1600x900 vs B = 1920x1080) Happens constantly when I connect my TV to laptop, close any applications while they are on my TV and disconnect my TV from laptop. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/759898 Title: Title bar of applications which start before Unity does, gets hidden under panel To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/compiz/+bug/759898/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Using sna had strange side-effects like wrong tint colors in urxvt: blue, cyan and 100% transparency instead of 50%, i.e. clear instead of shaded. After X start I always had blue, after adding another screen via xrandr, I got 100% transparency, after removing that screen again, I had cyan. [Bug 119899]
This behavior is still present in the most current versions (note message date) of Thunderbird on Ubuntu and SeaMonkey on Windows 7. It does appear to be an issue when applying after the fact to IMAP and POP mail. Someone commented about a search function for AOL. Every webmail account I have, including AOL, has a search function. Many of these *custom* headers are standard headers. The best workaround, in my opinion, is to simply add common headers to future builds. This can also be an issue because occasionally the mail filters cannot find the folder the message is to be moved (another bug?). In my mind, X should imply custom headers since that is the recommended standard. All other common headers should be considered standard. A suggest list, including those already listed, should contain Authentication-Results, BCC, CC, Content-Type, Content-Transfer- Encoding, Date, Delivered-To, DKIM-Signature, DomainKey-Signature, From, List-Id, List-Subscribe, List-Unsubscribe, Mailing-List, Message-ID, MIME-Version, Precedence, Received, References, Reply-To, Return-Path, Sender, Subject, To. I'm sure this is not a comprehensive list. Also, some of these may be meaningless and some starting with X might be added. However, the person working on this bug will make the final decision when editing the code. Please offer further suggestions so that we may come to an agreement. I don't think this work around will add bulk or slow down mail. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/119899 Title: After-the-fact Filters on custom header won't match for IMAP messages To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/thunderbird/+bug/119899/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1026777] Re: Xorg segfault: kicks out to login screen
I think this is the bug I have noticed since some point in July. As a distinction, this is not on a Thinkpad - it's a Samsung NC10 Netbook. I've been using this as you would a netbook - suspend by shutting the lid, then start up, get the login prompt and back to where you were before the suspension happened. In the last month, often a short period after restoring - so you can switch windows in Chromium or go to look at mail, I get dumped out to the login screen. Noticed the Segfault error with Xorg in /var/log/kern.log. segfault at 9 ip b76fdb28 sp bf821000 error 4 in Xorg What other info would it be useful to gather? Firefly, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. Karmic reached EOL on April 30, 2011. Please see this document for currently supported Ubuntu releases: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases We were wondering if this is still an issue in a supported release? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ . If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications-Accessories-Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p linux replace-with-bug-number Also, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Please do not test the kernel in the daily folder, but the one all the way at the bottom. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested and remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'. If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'. If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, please comment as to why specifically you were unable to test it and add the tag: 'kernel-unable- to-test-upstream'. Please let us know your results. [Bug 974938] Re: Process gsettings prevents logging in
Hi All, I think this bug is a duplicate of https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/at-spi2-core/+bug/870874 I'm not sure and I will not mark it as such, but symptoms seems the same: LDAP/NFS users, gsettings preventing session open with blackscreen. Various workarounds seem to work with mitigated results (installing nscd, removing /etc/X11/XSession.d/90qt-a11y…). For me, disabling the XSession.d script worked the first time, then not the subsequents. Did not try installing nscd yet, but caching LDAP results is not an option, it will just hide/mask an underlying network problem IMHO. regards, Olivier -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/974938 Title: Process gsettings prevents logging in To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libnss-ldap/+bug/974938/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1029502] Re: unity-panel-service crashed with SIGSEGV in g_dbus_proxy_call_internal()
Could be. Just for clarification: ppa:sil2100/quantal - which is the source of the installed package, is nothing else than lp:compiz trunk packages + distro fixes for enabling the gsettings framework. So besides the distro magic regarding gsettings, there is nothing else than compiz trunk. The unity package also had to be rebuild because of a necessary ABI bump. [Bug 796000] Re: numerous errors in dmesg
Pawel Kot, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please provide an impact statement on how these messages impact the performance of your computer? As well, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? Hi Caleb, Thanks for keeping the momentum going on this. I notice though that you are still using $K5START_LOGFILE which really isn't required now. [Bug 979287] Re: Can't add 'other locations' for clock in 12.04
I have been experiencing this exact problem since upgrading to 12.04. A number of times I have attempted to add a few international locations that I routinely like to reference but abandoned the task after realising that it doesn't work. Tonight if finally annoyed me enough to google the problem. I initially subscribed to this bug upon reading it, however after viewing Charles Kerr's attached screenshot, I tried again. The problem is that the dropdown list isn't populated automatically; it's blank, giving the impression that there are no values behind it, however if you start tyying the list starts populating after some delay. I believe that the functionality is there, however the bug is in that it isn't intuitive that the data is available, leading one to draw an incorrect conclusion that the functionality is not available -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/979287 Title: Can't add 'other locations' for clock in 12.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/indicator-datetime/+bug/979287/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 959276] Re: Scrolling message in preview breaks rendering
This bug has been plaguing me for 6 months at least but I was unable to track it down - until today. The preview pane hangs (won't refresh on scrolling, doesn't change emails and is generally unusable) as described. This happens regularly to me and is always triggered by certain emails in my Inbox. Usually the emails triggering this bug are plain-text (server/system- generated) multipart emails with, for example, long CSV attachments - or copy log files emailed to me from appliances. I have many emails that I cannot view. Evolution's preview window hangs 90% of the time on these emails. Formatting Message takes a long time on these messages too. Force shutdown or restart of evolution is required to view any other email. running with LIBOVERLAY_SCROLLBAR=0 makes the problem go away, albeit with a workaround. Eureka! As an Eclipse user too this LIBOVERLAY_SCROLLBAR has been a nuisance from day one of its inception. It bugs out all the main apps I use. I suspect from visual observations that this issue is due to a rapid stream of continuous widget scroll area size change events that causes overlay scrollbar to break the widget. Some apps used to disappear; evolution has a widget hang. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/959276 Title: Scrolling message in preview breaks rendering To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evolution/+bug/959276/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Plutocrat, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Thanks in advance. [Bug 1031323] [NEW] System freezes on high memory usage and swapping
Public bug reported: HDD ligths turn on steady and mouse+keyboard becomes almost unresponsive (I say almost because there's some really short moments that a key or mouse move acts and then freezes for several minutes and so on). Sometimes I've left it overnight to see if the notebook turns back to operation, but most of time in the morning, the system continues with the HD working nonstop.
