I've recently switched (back) to using Linux Mint with Mate. I can confirm that in this distro, REISUB is working just fine. Since Ubuntu is Mint's upstream, it's very likely that the bug is solved in Ubuntu, as well. Thought you might like to know. I see no reason to un-expire this bug, or otherwise keep it "open." I also ran into the same problem on LUbuntu 10.04, which increases big file transfers times with hours. Could it be that sftp from Nautilus selects a different cipher for its encryption? Presumably des (the default protocol 1 cipher), judging from the speed drop compared to plain sftp? When compiling simple Qt OpenGL program under Ubuntu there is following line in Qt project file: QT += opengl This adds some include directories to the project and also tries to link to /usr/lib/libGL.so which fails as there is no such file present in the system. After creating a symlink /usr/lib/libGL.so -> /usr/lib/i386-linux- gnu/mesa/libGL.so.1 I'm able to link the program and run it normally. Now, I think someone should create this symlink, right? How far do you get with this? I. e. if you run "apport-bug coreutils", do you see anything, or does it just go into the infinite loop straight away? Do you see anything on stdout/err? If no, can you please run strace -fvvs1024 -o /tmp/trace apport-bug coreutils let it run for a few secs, then bzip2 /tmp/trace and attach /tmp/trace.bz2 here? I have the same problems since 2012-10-03 on my server. My machine was upgraded from 10.04 and worked fine, until yesterday. It began with problems with autofs. And then is saw these problems with nis. My version of ypbind is already 0.2.0-7ubuntu1.1. The effects are the same as in Alex's description. In my install history, the only upgraded package was xdiagnose. I tried to patch my /etc/init/portmap-wait.conf as suggested in comment #17, but with no effect. Is there any possiblity to view the log for this upstart-job? I my logs, I can only see "Binding to YP server .backgrounded". Public bug reported: If you invoke the Dash and begin typing quickly immediately after that, the Dash will fail to intercept the first letter or two. Instead they will be intercepted by the previously focused window. That could be the desktop or a window of any other application. Steps to reproduce: 1. Minimize all windows. (Don't have to but to make the test case clearer.) 2. Hit the Super key or click on the Ubuntu button in the launcher and immediately start typing. Expected: All keystrokes are intercepted by the Dash and they are shown in the search field within it. Instead: The first letter or two are intercepted by the desktop and they appear in a search field in the bottom right corner of the screen. I don't recall this being an issue in Unity on Ubuntu 12.04.
