[Bug 1069196] [NEW] del.icio.us add-on subverted
Public bug reported: Newer versions of firefox prevent the del.icio.us add-on from working. I got around this temporarily by editing the file /home/murtaugh/.mozilla/firefox/d0z95du4.default/extensions/{2fa4ed95-0317 -4c6a-a74c-5f3e3912c1f9}/install.rdf and changing the maxVersion to 16.*, but I have had to do this more than once, so I fear there is a deeper-seated issue. Why would you purposely subvert this very popular add-on? [Bug 1069184]
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1069184/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package. [Bug 1069199] [NEW] Unity does not start after installing fglrx-updates
Public bug reported: After installing ATI proprietary drivers for my Radeon video card, Unity doesn't start anymore. LightDM shows up, and I'm able to log in, but Unity doesn't load. [Bug 575000] Re: Conflict between webcam and wifi
Christopher, nice to see that things are going on. I installed the newest Kubuntu (12.10) (I didn't find a newer development version in this moment). The bug still exists. The information above are collected with apport as you described. I'll now switch on wifi and the webcam (provoke the bug) and do a second run with apport after my wifi and webcam crashed. ** Description changed: Hi, I'm using Kubuntu 9.10, tried Kubuntu 10.04, same problem there. Also tried opensuse 11.2, also same problem there. Problem: When I start using my webcam, my wifi disconnects and is unable to restart. On the other hand, my webcam only works with wifi disabled. Those are the components concerned: Bus 001 Device 003: ID 148f:2573 Ralink Technology, Corp. RT2501USB Wireless Adapter Bus 001 Device 004: ID 04f2:b022 Chicony Electronics Co., Ltd Gateway USB 2.0 Webcam Workaround: Disabled uvcvideo by blacklisting it. When I want to use my webcam, I need a Cable-LAN connection and starting it manually with sudo modprobe uvcvideo First I thought, this bug is related to bug #435352, but as this seems to be solved with an kernel-update, and mine isn't, it seems to be a new one. In var/log/debug and messages there is no suspicious entry about that. I've checked indicator-weather source and changelogs and there is nothing documented about fixing this. I'm using 12.10 with indicator-weather 12.07.30-0ubuntu1. This behaviour started when Google shut down their servers for weather forceast and indicator-weather is using them to display forceast infomation. So this will not be fixed until indicator-weather gets support for using some other forceast source Please reopen this bug. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1048193 Title: Forecast Information Cannot be fetched. [Bug 1069217] [NEW] Minimizing apps launcher icon behavior
Public bug reported: Unexpected/unnatural behaviour - When having an app minimized in the launcher, clicking it brings it back to focus. One would expect that a second click would then bring it back to minimize again, however a second click has currently no effect. Observation: This is particularly unnatural when working with a touchpad. For instance, you have a pdf with some data open en you work in Libre office collecting some information out of the pdf. Once in a while you want to see the pdf, so you click on the icon to bring it to the front, you look, and then while your pointer is still there on the icon, you want to minimize it again, so more or less naturally you would like to click it again, but nothing happens. Instead you have to navigate your pointer separately to the three window-control buttons to minimize it again before being able to continue working. Desired solution: 1- First click on an icon opens the program and brings it to front. 2- Second click on icon keeps the program open but minimizes it. 3- Third click brings the open program back to focus. 4- Fourth click minimizes it again. 5- etc... An added bonus of this would also be: - Opportunity of opening apps minimized by just double clicking the launcher icon (combination of points 1 2) . Pros: Added functionality of launcher icons in parallel with what one expects. More natural economic workflow. Less pointer movements. Being able to start an app minimized by just double clicking the icon: Currently no such feature is available (without installing devilspie) and this would be nice. Cons: None. [Bug 1066006] Re: 0bda:8176 wifi connection lost after update to 3.2.0-31-generic
win22, regarding your comments https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1066006/comments/4 : I already test 32023, 32031, and 3.6 . All of them have unuppropriate drivers which doesn't work and after replaced drivers from realtek site, wifi adapter works OK. Thank you for testing those kernels. So I think, that additional testing is useless, If manually downloading the drivers from the Realtek website as you outlined is a solution for you, then you may mark this report as Status Invalid. Otherwise, two ways exist on how to proceed: 1) The Realtek driver downloaded from the website is packaged in a supported Ubuntu repository, and potentially quirked for your device ID. For more on this path please see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuDevelopment/NewPackages . 2) The drivers that come by default with Ubuntu work with your device. We would need to know if this is a regression for your device ID. Which way(s) would you like? just I can suggest to reploace existed in kernel drivers to new one. See above. If you like I can send Yo my... Marking Invalid. AMD has dropped the RadeonHD 4x00 series from fglrx support. The last version of fglrx to support your card is 8.960 (and this version will not work in Quantal/12.10). [Bug 548709] Re: [R423] gamma bug, display too bright when using DVI-VGA adapter [patch]
Unfortunately this problem is affecting me in Quantal Quetzal as well. Basically the behavior is the same as the other fellow users are experiencing: A too light-saturated Desktop Display that cannot be corrected using any gamma utility. In the past I could fix this using the radeon.modeset=0 variable in the kernel boot, however since the upgrade, if I do that I don't have any display, it logins normally but no image whatsoever. So in order to boot in the system again I should use the radeon.modeset=1 variable again, with the undesirable color side effects. Nevertheless this seems to be affecting the Desktop only, because if I use any OpenGL program, like the Open Arena game, colors shows normal. Alas I've tried some of the solutions suggested in this thread with no luck. I've attached the dmesg and lscpci logs to this report as the documentation indicates, however if you need more information in order to fix this issue, I would gladly do whatever it takes to see this fixed. Some basic information for reference is I'm using Kubuntu 12.10 Quantal Quetzal and using an ATI Radeon R100 video card. Using the uname -a shows me this kernel info: Linux 3.5.0-17-generic #28-Ubuntu SMP Tue Oct 9 19:32:08 UTC 2012 i686 athlon i686 GNU/Linux I appreciate any help given with this issue and I thank you in advance for taking the time to read this report and try to solve it. [Bug 1007423] Re: ibus won't turn 'on' when in certain programs
IBus in 12.04 and earlier versions lacks a dependency to gnome-icon-theme, you may need to install it manually for Kubuntu. sudo apt-get install gnome-icon-theme im-switch should be the recommended way of enabling IBus, instead of manually change environmental variables. Built-in Firefox should work. Changes are that you download Firefox from Mozilla which is 32bit. 32bit Firefox don't work automatically on a 64bit system because of some technical reasons. LibreOffice works on my Kubuntu 12.04 64bit box currently. Other random apps should be discussed case-by-case. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1007423 Title: ibus won't turn 'on' when in certain programs To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ibus/+bug/1007423/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1069225] [NEW] Shotwell thumbnails not shown for raw photos in results
Public bug reported: On 64-bit 12.10 (quantal) with unity-lens-photos 0.8-0ubuntu1. For search results that include raw photos (.CRW files in my case) the thumbnails are blank. The update_search_results() method looks for files in the thumbnails folder that have the same extension as the source file. However, at least for my files, Shotwell's thumbnails are .jpg and so aren't seen. A basic patch to fix my situation, attached, simply also checks for .jpg thumbnails (so it checks thumb1234.jpg after failing to find thumb1234.crw). A more thorough fix might be to check for thumb1234.* perhaps? ** Affects: unity-lens-photos (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Patch added: Quick fix for raw thumbnails that also checks for thumbnails ending with .jpg https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1069225/+attachment/3406649/+files/simple_thumb_check.patch -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1069225 Title: Shotwell thumbnails not shown for raw photos in results To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity-lens-photos/+bug/1069225/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
