[Bug 776435] Re: Window maximizes on the wrong workspace
On a dual monitor setup (Monitor 1: 1920x1200, Monitor 2: 1280x1024) a window will maximize correctly via grid on the small monitor if it's x-size is lower than 2459 pixel, but larger than the bigger monitor's x-resolution (1920). -> see also bug 751605 and the proposed solution https://code.launchpad.net/~vanvugt/compiz/fix-751605/+merge/134404 for it to understand why the windows x-size needs to be larger than Monitor1's x-resolution. Once the window is resized to 2460 pixel and maximized on the smaller resolution monitor (2) via grid on viewport 1 it will jump to monitor 2 on viewport 2. Resizing the window to x>2461 pixel and repeating the maximizing via grid on viewport 1 it will jump to Monitor 1 (the large-resolution one) on viewport 2. This is 100% reproducable every time. Solution: We should never move windows across viewports when we maximize a window. To pad out the bug description a little more, the laptop will 100% reliably DROP network link any time you either connect, or disconnect the mains power cord. Sometimes it will reestablish link, sometimes it won't and will require a hard wifi toggle via keyboard hotkeys. dmesg contains output like: [205678.104200] iwlwifi :02:00.0: RF_KILL bit toggled to enable radio. After using the workarounds in this bug no such messages appear, even though the power save state of the device has changed as normal. Pure speculation on my part, but it seems that the driver issues a brief flip of the rfkill bit when you ask it to change the power state this way. I would call that a driver bug, not a pm-utils bug. Other than this the driver is rock solid stable and performs well. Plus one. I've had this on both 2530p and 6930p HP Elitebooks, on various kernel / Ubuntu versions for the last year or so. No big surprise, they're both the same chipset. In fact you can fix the problem just by commenting out the "Wireless" case in the main pci_devices script in /usr/lib/pm-utils/power.d/pci_devices. It seems that I'm unable to get your patch by using the commands that you gave me. I have ran the commands in a terminal window after I booted my machine with the work around. But i'm not sure your fix was among the many things that got installed. I didn't see your repository uri (http://ppa.launchpad.net/psusi/ppa/ubuntu) anywhere in the output. It is blkid that you've patched, correct? blkid still does not output anything when I run it. blkid -v shows me "blkid from util-linux 2.20.1 (libblkid 2.20.0, 19-Oct-2011)" The computer still does not start without me running dmraid -ay manually I'm sorry. [Bug 395919] Re: network manager takes long time to connect then connection drops - ath9k
I have a laptop Acer Aspire Timeline 48140T with this bug. I've been using ubuntu since 10.04 and after the ubuntu 12.04.1 update, the wifi does not work properly. after 2 or 3 minutes, the wireless connects and disconnects, the touchpad stops to work, and it seems to hang the system. I used the line command 'lshw -c network' and it says that the wireless interface is from a "Ilegal Vendor ID". When the wireless is working, instead of Ilegal Vendor ID, it shows the name of the manufacturer, Atheros. I attached some lines of the system log to help to identificate the problem. I tried to boot using the live CD. With ubuntu 12.04 or lower, i dont experience this problem. When i boot with 12.04.1 the problem happens again. I also installed the wicd, as in some asnwers in Ask Ubuntu website, but I couldnot be able to solve the problem. Thanks for your help. [Bug 751701] Re: network_check crashed with InvalidURL in _set_hostport(): nonnumeric port: ' text'
Hi, I took a system with checkbox 0.13.7, and ran the command given in the test section, I get this: Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/share/checkbox/scripts/network_check", line 64, in sys.exit(main()) File "/usr/share/checkbox/scripts/network_check", line 40, in main results[protocol] = check_url(value) File "/usr/share/checkbox/scripts/network_check", line 17, in check_url urllib2.urlopen(url) File "/usr/lib/python2.7/urllib2.py", line 126, in urlopen return _opener.open(url, data, timeout) File "/usr/lib/python2.7/urllib2.py", line 400, in open response = self._open(req, data) File "/usr/lib/python2.7/urllib2.py", line 418, in _open '_open', req) File "/usr/lib/python2.7/urllib2.py", line 378, in _call_chain result = func(*args) File "/usr/lib/python2.7/urllib2.py", line 1207, in http_open return self.do_open(httplib.HTTPConnection, req) File "/usr/lib/python2.7/urllib2.py", line 1146, in do_open h = http_class(host, timeout=req.timeout) # will parse host:port File "/usr/lib/python2.7/httplib.py", line 693, in __init__ self._set_hostport(host, port) File "/usr/lib/python2.7/httplib.py", line 721, in _set_hostport raise InvalidURL("nonnumeric port: '%s'" % host[i+1:]) httplib.InvalidURL: nonnumeric port: ' text' Then I installed checkbox 0.13.8 from -proposed, ran the same command. I get nothing on the command line, and a small window pops up indicating the http connection failed (understandably, since the proxy is purposefully invalid). This is the correct behavior as indicated by the test case. Just for kicks, I then set a valid proxy and ran with both checkbox 0.13.7 and checkbox 0.13.8. In both cases it said the connection failed, but that's because the URL they are trying to load no longer exists (see https://launchpad.net/bugs/1065855). This issue is orthogonal to the current bug; I manually modified the network_check script to point to a valid URL, and then it works fine (says HTTP Connection: Success). So the proposed fix is working as expected. I'll mark verification-done based on the above. ** Tags removed: verification-needed ** Tags added: verification-done -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/751701 Title: network_check crashed with InvalidURL in _set_hostport(): nonnumeric port: ' text' To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/checkbox/+bug/751701/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 979003] Re: libc incorrectly detects AVX support
Hello Chris, or anyone else affected, Accepted eglibc into lucid-proposed. The package will build now and be available at http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/eglibc/2.11.1-0ubuntu7.12 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository. Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users. If this package fixes the bug for you, please change the bug tag from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not, change the tag to verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help us make a better decision. Further information regarding the verification process can be found at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . [Bug 1011733] Re: The lock screen shortcut doesn't update when its value is changed in dconf
This is happening because of the way DBusMenu implements its menuitems. GtkMenuItem is a GtkBin, and gtk's menuitem.c adds a single child, a GtkAccelLabel (which is a private Gtk class). DBusMenu wants the single child to be a container, so it reparents that GtkAccelLabel into an hbox and sets the hbox as the single child. (see genericmenuitem.c's set_label()). Unfortunately, this breaks Gtk's gtkmenuitem.c's gtk_menu_item_sync_action_properties() function, which only updates the GtkAccelLabel's properties if the GtkAccelLabel is still the direct child of the menuitem. It looks like there's some precedent in gtkmenuitem.c to look harder for the Accel Label if the menuitem'c child is a container. This is what's done in gtk_menu_item_accel_width_foreach() as a part of determining the menuitem's preferred width for gtk_menu_item_get_preferred_width(). Maybe a similar patch would be accepted upstream for gtk_menu_item_sync_action_properties(). I haven't tested such a patch, but I think it would resolve this bug. ** Changed in: indicator-session Status: Incomplete => Triaged ** Changed in: indicator-session (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Triaged ** Changed in: dbusmenu Status: New => Triaged -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1011733 Title: The lock screen shortcut doesn't update when its value is changed in dconf To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/dbusmenu/+bug/1011733/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
