[Bug 902431] Re: in synaptic setting-repositories fails to open its dialog if software-properties-gtk is installed
I am reassigning this bug to the software-properties package, as that is the one containing the software-properties-gtk, which should open when the Software sources menu item is clicked. It works if software-properties-gtk is uninstalled because synaptic has it's own software sources dialog to use as fallback if software-properties-gtk is not available. However to be able to tell why doesn't software-properties-gtk start, could you please try and run it (software-properties-gtk) from the Terminal and let us know whether it starts up correctly, and if not, paste the messages from the terminal in this bug report. [Bug 1079283] Re: Unity ignores Gnome privacy settings
I think this bug is more about the fact that the concepts behind the privacy panel are not fully understood/explained. Don't record activity is exactly what it means, it won't record new activity about specific types of files in a specific folder, but previously recorded activities still exist and will be displayed in the Dash. We should either: a) do a better job at explaining this panel. b) change lenses to never display recorded activities if their recording is disabled in the panel, therefore considering it as a Dash blacklist (AFAIK, only the Videos lens is working this way). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1079283 Title: Unity ignores Gnome privacy settings To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/1079283/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1082059] [NEW] default quantal kernel does not boot my macbook air
Public bug reported: I have been trying to create a small i386 bootimage for mac using grub efi boot on my new macbook air. With precise it was not possible to use an i386 kernel on a 64bit efi firmware but this has been resolved with eficross. But after installing quantal with debootstrap on a usb stick with a small vfat image for holding grub-efi i cannot boot the system with kernel 3.5.18. So I started installing the latest mainline kernel from ppa which worked without problems. After installing about 10 kernels :) i found that it had to do with the changes between kernel 3.6.4 and 3.6.5, so i investigated the changelog file and there is some significant change for efi cross arch. commit 31fd7858aab67b6c4104cd7323a69f257a170572 Author: Olof Johansson o...@lixom.net Date: Wed Oct 24 10:00:44 2012 -0700 x86: efi: Turn off efi_enabled after setup on mixed fw/kernel commit 5189c2a7c7769ee9d037d76c1a7b8550ccf3481c upstream. When 32-bit EFI is used with 64-bit kernel (or vice versa), turn off efi_enabled once setup is done. Beyond setup, it is normally used to determine if runtime services are available and we will have none. This will resolve issues stemming from efivars modprobe panicking on a 32/64-bit setup, as well as some reboot issues on similar setups. Recently tested, on 12.10 this problem lives on. If I may add a similar problem to this bug, you're also not able to send any data to any devices. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read How to report bugs effectively http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures At a minimum, we need: 1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem, 2. the behavior you expected, and 3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). [Bug 1082062] [NEW] thunderbird-esr is missing
Public bug reported: The rolling releases of thunderbird in ubuntu 12.04 (LTS) and newer renders thunderbird in some use cases as unusable or a known security problem. In some circumstances the usability of thunderbird is bound to additional add-ons, which are not available through the ubuntu repositories. An add-on I depend on is e.g. the funambol connector (-- https://maurus.net/resources/funambol/ ). If I update to a new version of thunderbird, I have a time frame of days till weeks there is now new version of this add-on is available. To avoid this situation I have to pin the thunderbird to stick on the old version. The old version doesn't contain the security fixes :-/ So what solution I take I'm loosing functionality or security. To avoid this situation an thunderbird-esr version inside the ubuntu archive would help. (Especially where are not much new functionality will happen in the next thunderbird releases.) ** Affects: thunderbird (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: precise ** Information type changed from Private Security to Public ** Tags added: precise -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1082062 Title: thunderbird-esr is missing To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/thunderbird/+bug/1082062/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
