mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag

[Bug 1094412] Re: Precise does not resume from S3 - kernel panic on resume

2012-12-29 Thread Tim Hockin
Best guess:

Booting with 'noapic', I see the "irq 5: nobody cared" message on
resume, along with 1 IRQ5 counts in /proc/interrupts (the devices
claiming that IRQ are quiescent).

Without 'noapic' that must be triggering something else to go haywire,
perhaps the AER logic (though that is all MSI, so probably not). I'm
flying blind on those boots.

I bet that, if I can recall how to re-enable IRQ5, I'll see it
continuously asserting. Chipset or BIOS bug maybe. I don't know if I
had AER enabled under Lucid, so that might be the difference.

[Bug 733349] Re: Minimize Application's Windows upon clicking its Launcher Icon

2012-12-29 Thread Gannin
We really need to have the ability to click on the launcher icon to
minimize. It's far faster and easier than trying to click the little
minimize button that's tucked between the other two. Click to launch,
then click to minimize or restore from a minimized state.

[Bug 1020650] Re: Ralink module rt5572sta isn't included in linux-image-{generic, server}

2012-12-29 Thread Guillaume Romagny
please, same issue with Dlink DWA-160 version B2 with rt5572 USB
=> usb stick is cheap and seems to be working fine on Win7 on dual band
2.4/5GHz (and NETGEAR WNDR4000 router)

It might be interesting to report to mainstream

side notes :
I have applied the current Ralink 2.613 linux drivers on Ubuntu 12.04.1
(3.2.0-35-generic) => I cannot connect to my netgear NETGEAR WNDR4000 wifi
router!
BUT I can do dual band connexion with Win7/rt5572 and the same netgear 4000 wifi

more weird : Android (kernel 2.3.7) or Ubuntu 12.04.1 with wifi
RTL8188CE cannot connect to a wifi router (a linux based DSL provider
named "Free") but the Ubuntu 12.04.1 and rt5572 USB works pretty fine

=> there are ugly protocol issues in linux/drivers code, if I could
help...

If I disable Bluetooth in the Bluetooth applet, after rebooting
Bluetooth is enabled again.

2012-12-29 Thread dan wendlandt
adding adam to the bug, who can comment for sure, but it looks like the
issues is just "fix committed" for quantal, not "fixed released", so I
would guess its not in the latest released version for ubuntu.

Guess you'd have to ask Clem and team about that one. I realize that
Linux Mint is based on Ubuntu as is Kubuntu. Recall, I run the KDE
version of Mint. So perhaps the Kubuntu folks made the change?

[Bug 1094605] [NEW] No sound during high sample rates audio playback on MacBook Pro 7.1

2012-12-29 Thread Timur I. Davletshin
Public bug reported:

Sample rates higher than 48kHz produce no sound in my setup both in pure
alsa mode and pulseaudio (with default-sample-rate: 192000 or 96000 in
/etc/pulse/daemon.conf) modes. Following strings shows that audio
hardware is set to this mode with no alsa resampling or something
similar.

aplay -D plughw:CARD=NVidia,DEV=0 high_def_audio.wav

cat /proc/asound/NVidia/pcm0p/sub0$/hw_params
access: MMAP_INTERLEAVED
format: S32_LE
subformat: STD
channels: 2
rate: 192000 (192000/1)
period_size: 4096
buffer_size: 8192

P.S. Sorry for using non stock kernel this is due to
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/v86d/+bug/1080530 (build from
#22 with single patch applied) but problem can be reprodused in "pure"
setup.

[Bug 1081384] Re: Update to 310.19

2012-12-29 Thread John Calla
Hopefully a good resolution can be found for this.

We went from having the ease of the x-swat PPA updated with the latest
stable driver on the day of release to then being forced to play with
beta drivers only in Jockey, to now having to find the option buried
somewhere under Software Sources.

What used to be an extremely easy task in Ubuntu (i.e., keeping video
drivers up to date), has become very convoluted and troublesome.

[Bug 1094602] [NEW] No thumnbnails showing, Nautilus processor usage goes up to 100%.

2012-12-29 Thread Naeblis
Public bug reported:

The thumbnail previews for files like JPGs, PDFs etc are not showing up
in nautilus. Tried deleting ~/.thumbnails, and also tried creating a
fresh user. Same behavior was observed.

Here is a log from ~/.xsession-errors :

(nautilus:1956): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_value_get_object: assertion

This link: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/eog/+bug/754622
mentions the same error, but no malfunctions.

Interestingly, if I open a directory inside nautilus where there are
supposed to be thumbnails, I see nautilus' processor usage goes up,
sometimes to 100%, and it goes down when I close it.

I suspect it is also eating up my hard disk space, but can't be sure.
I'd love some help on this. :)

I'm using Natty.

[Bug 1094603] [NEW] Gateway T-1625 webcam kills wifi

2012-12-29 Thread JimmyJimJames
Public bug reported:

Seems to be the same as bug #554263.

Gateway T-1625 running a wifi connection on Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS.

When the webcam is turned on, the wireless device disconnects and seems
to disappear. Looking at the nm-applet, wireless networking doesn't
even appear there after this happens.

Reboot restores the wireless connection.

This makes it impossible to use Google hang-out, as answering an
invitation kills the wireless connection when the webcam turns on.

[Bug 887793] Re: Kworker constantly taking about 100% CPU

2012-12-29 Thread Alex Rogachevsky
Googled high ACPI interrupts and the issue appears to be BIOS-related.
Definitely kernel-level, can be traced as far back, as 2007 - reappears
after fixes.

Below is the most recent incident (when the bug was assigned) - abandoned by
the developer for whatever reason.
https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/28859
https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=138249

The reporter "fixed" it himself by some form of hard reset - removing
the battery. So for anyone who owns a laptop with a removable battery
(not Samsung 7) - here is a chance to try it. If you think it worked,
test suspend/restore as well.

BTW I tried his kernel parameters "acpi_os_name=\"Microsoft Windows NT\"
i915.i915_enable_rc6=1 i915.lvds_downclock=1" with no effect.

2012-12-29 Thread Shaun Crampton
The logs were from a successful boot. The previous version I had
installed was 3.5.0-20-generic. I'll try to convince grub to give me a
boot menu tomorrow and then alternate versions to see if I can
absolutely confirm the kernel version as the cause. I'll also run
apport-collect to attach the logs from a failed bootup to this bug.

[Bug 1086746] Re: Bluetooth keyboard battery interpreted as laptop battery

2012-12-29 Thread David Morris
Same problem with my Razer Pro|Click BT mouse on my Sony VAIO's built-in
BT radio. This looks like a bug in the Unity battery applet, not in
upowerd, but I could be wrong. upower-d displays the mouse battery with
the proper device name and "no" to power supply (the laptop battery
reports "yes" to power supply). But when I open the battery info app
from Unity, it shows the mouse as a laptop battery. Not only that, but
the "default" battery meter displayed in the Unity menu bar is for the
mouse and NOT the laptop battery. So I have to click it to see the
laptop's battery level.

[Bug 1094591] Re: Blank Screen on Reboot/Restart

2012-12-29 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1094591/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 1089722] Re: wcslen reads beyond the end of the buffer

2012-12-29 Thread Phillip Susi
I suspected it may be a false positive in valgrind from such an
optimization in eglibc, but looking at the uncommented glibc source, I
can not tell if it actually is safe and won't cross a page boundary. If
it can't cross a page boundary, then yes, valgrind should be configured
to ignore it, but if it can, then it certainly is a bug.
