[Bug 1099875] [NEW] multipathd ignores dev_loss_tmo and fast_io_fail_tmo settings
Public bug reported: My device section of /etc/multipath.conf contains the following (I'll attach the complete file in a bit): fast_io_fail_tmo 3 dev_loss_tmo 2147483647 This is also visible in the output from multipathd -kshow config, so it's being correctly parsed. However, the settings appears to be completely ignored by multipathd, as the corresponding sysfs settings doesn't get updated: $ grep . /sys/class/fc_remote_ports/rport-*/*tmo /sys/class/fc_remote_ports/rport-2:0-0/dev_loss_tmo:30 /sys/class/fc_remote_ports/rport-2:0-0/fast_io_fail_tmo:off /sys/class/fc_remote_ports/rport-3:0-0/dev_loss_tmo:30 /sys/class/fc_remote_ports/rport-3:0-0/fast_io_fail_tmo:off These are the kernel's defaults. I can easily set them manually: $ echo 3 | tee /sys/class/fc_remote_ports/rport-*/fast_io_fail_tmo 3 $ echo 2147483647 | tee /sys/class/fc_remote_ports/rport-*/dev_loss_tmo 2147483647 $ grep . /sys/class/fc_remote_ports/rport-*/*tmo /sys/class/fc_remote_ports/rport-2:0-0/dev_loss_tmo:2147483647 /sys/class/fc_remote_ports/rport-2:0-0/fast_io_fail_tmo:3 /sys/class/fc_remote_ports/rport-3:0-0/dev_loss_tmo:2147483647 /sys/class/fc_remote_ports/rport-3:0-0/fast_io_fail_tmo:3 However, this won't survive a reboot, and since SAN paths may appear at any time, adding the above to /etc/rc.local is also not a good way to fix it. I've also attempted to move the settings to the defaults section and the individual path sections. No change in behaviour. This bug prevents dm-multipath from quickly moving I/O away from a recently failed SAN path, instead stalling all I/O for 30 seconds. This defeats the purpose of using multipathing in the first place, which is to have highly available I/O access so that production can continue uninterrupted even if parts of the SAN fabric fails. The setting works on RHEL6, btw. ** Affects: multipath-tools (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Attachment added: multipath.conf from impacted Precise server https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1099875/+attachment/3484064/+files/multipath.conf -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to multipath-tools in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1099875 Title: multipathd ignores dev_loss_tmo and fast_io_fail_tmo settings To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/multipath-tools/+bug/1099875/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1099793] Re: php 5.3.10 openssl_encrypt empty data
Confirmed, and I've found the fix. This is https://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=61413 fixed in http://git.php.net/?p =php-src.git;a=commit;h=270a406ac94b5fc5cc9ef59fc61e3b4b95648a3e and released upstream in 5.3.14. This is due to i remaining uninitialised in the case of input data of zero size. I also think this is a security issue, since it results in the encrypted data containing arbitrary memory contents which could subsequently be leaked to a web user. This could contain things like a mysql password or other secrets. The attached debdiff fixes this bug. I've tested that it builds and upgrading fixes the issue. Adding ~ubuntu-security-sponsors and removing importance for re-triaging by the security team. ** Bug watch added: bugs.php.net/ #61413 http://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=61413 ** Patch added: php5.debdiff https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/php5/+bug/1099793/+attachment/3484103/+files/php5.debdiff ** Changed in: php5 (Ubuntu) Importance: Medium = Undecided ** Information type changed from Public to Public Security -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to php5 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1099793 Title: php 5.3.10 openssl_encrypt empty data To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/php5/+bug/1099793/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

Public bug reported: I hooked my new CyberPower UPS: CP685AVR-G on my Lucid server and got this error: Jan 15 12:06:33 xeon upsd[5441]: Can't connect to UPS [cyberpower] (usbhid-ups-cyberpower): No such file or directory Jan 15 12:06:38 xeon upsmon[5445]: Poll UPS [cyberpower@127.0.0.1] failed - Driver not connected After trying many things, I found https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=488368 that hint me in the right direction. The required change was to rename the udev rule like this: mv /lib/udev/rules.d/{5,6}2-nut-usbups.rules Now, everything works well, without requiring user = root in /etc/nut/ups.conf because the udev rule now ensures the device file is owned by the group nut: # find /dev/bus/usb/ -ls 15360 drwxr-xr-x 10 root root 200 Jan 15 12:40 /dev/bus/usb/ 15790 drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 60 Jan 15 12:40 /dev/bus/usb/008 15800 crw-rw-r-- 1 root root Jan 15 12:41 /dev/bus/usb/008/001 15730 drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 60 Jan 15 12:40 /dev/bus/usb/007 15740 crw-rw-r-- 1 root root Jan 15 12:41 /dev/bus/usb/007/001 15670 drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 60 Jan 15 12:40 /dev/bus/usb/006 15680 crw-rw-r-- 1 root root Jan 15 12:41 /dev/bus/usb/006/001 15610 drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 60 Jan 15 12:40 /dev/bus/usb/005 15620 crw-rw-r-- 1 root root Jan 15 12:41 /dev/bus/usb/005/001 15550 drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 60 Jan 15 12:40 /dev/bus/usb/004 15560 crw-rw-r-- 1 root root Jan 15 12:41 /dev/bus/usb/004/001 15490 drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 80 Jan 15 12:40 /dev/bus/usb/003 21630 crw-rw-r-- 1 root nut Jan 15 12:49 /dev/bus/usb/003/002 15500 crw-rw-r-- 1 root root Jan 15 12:41 /dev/bus/usb/003/001 15430 drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 60 Jan 15 12:40 /dev/bus/usb/002 15440 crw-rw-r-- 1 root root Jan 15 12:41 /dev/bus/usb/002/001 15370 drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 60 Jan 15 12:40 /dev/bus/usb/001 15380 crw-rw-r-- 1 root root Jan 15 12:41 /dev/bus/usb/001/001 Generic information: # lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 10.04.4 LTS Release:10.04 # apt-cache policy nut nut: Installed: 2.4.3-1ubuntu3.2 Candidate: 2.4.3-1ubuntu3.2 Version table: *** 2.4.3-1ubuntu3.2 0 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid-updates/main Packages 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid-security/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 2.4.3-1ubuntu3 0 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid/main Packages ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.04 Package: nut 2.4.3-1ubuntu3.2 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.32-45.102-server 2.6.32.60+drm33.26 Uname: Linux 2.6.32-45-server x86_64 Architecture: amd64 Date: Tue Jan 15 12:43:46 2013 ProcEnviron: PATH=(custom, no user) LANG=en_CA.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: nut ** Affects: nut (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug lucid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to nut in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1099947 Title: driver unable to connect to CyberPower UPS using usbhid-ups driver To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nut/+bug/1099947/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

If there is no error retrieving flavors and a flavor has been - deleted, this can cause a large traceback in the table rendering as - get_size checks if the instance object hasattr() full_flavor instead - of for the individual values to display in the Size column. + [Impact] + + * horizon throw errors when view horizon/syspanel/instances/ page with deleted +flavor still in use by instances. + + * try to get flavor info through the flavor.get api, this can retrive the deleted +flavor info. + + [Test Case] + + * Launch an instance of flavor m1.tiny +on controller node do: nova flavor-delete m1.tiny, and wait for it to succeed. +on horizon look at the state of the machines, http://horizon-system:port/horizon/ +syspanel/instances/ and wait for it to fail because horizon can not find the flavor +m1.tiny and therefore can not report the status and details of the instance in +question. + + [Regression Potential] + + * This is a backport from upstream. + + + + In Nova dashboard and Syspanel dashboard if the flavor of an instance cannot be retrieved the property .full_flavor will still be set to None. If there is no error retrieving flavors and a flavor has been deleted, this can cause a large traceback in the table rendering as get_size checks if the instance object hasattr() full_flavor instead of for the individual values to display in the Size column. Attached is a potential fix. I have also included an alternate code path that will directly query the API for a flavor's information if it is not present in the full_flavors list(); this can occur if a flavor has been deleted as api.nova.flavors_list() only returns flavors that are not deleted. ** Patch added: deleted-flavor-exception.patch https://bugs.launchpad.net/horizon/+bug/981269/+attachment/3483738/+files/deleted-flavor-exception.patch -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/981269 Title: instance_type is still set as a property value of none even when flavors cannot be retrieved To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/horizon/+bug/981269/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1099716] [NEW] genisoimage for powerpc out of sync with debian-cd, mini.iso fails on some platforms
Public bug reported: [SRU Justification] Would kinda be nice to be able to install on as many systems as possible where the kernel support is already there and the only blocker is a broken ISO. [Verification Steps] Boot the old mini.iso and the new one on an affected system (pSeries 7xx for sure, possibly others) and verify that the old one will claim something along the lines of corrupted or unknown filesystem when trying to find yaboot.conf, while the new one brings up a properly-decorated yaboot prompt and subsequently boots. [Regression Potential] Changing ISO formats is always a risky prospect but, in this case, I'm switching to using a format identical to what has been used for the powerpc desktop/server ISOs since natty, which is well-tested (by far more frequently tested by the community than mini.iso) on many platforms, so the regression risk here should be vanishingly low. [Problem Description] Noticed when installing on an IBM pSeries 710, mini.iso failed to boot, while the server CD works fine. [Bug 989496] Re: UnicodeDecodeError during backup due to non-utf8 translation
i've dug into this a bit more deeply and found an explanation for the logging gotchas under certain locales: as per the python wiki (http://web.archive.org/web/20120425192131/http://wiki.python.org/moin/UnicodeEncodeError) when you run somestring.decode(whicheverencoding) python2 does weird encode-and-then-decode things if your somestring is already unicode. log.py uses s.decode('utf8',ignore) - which fails to ignore errors on some locales (apparently in the down-EN-coding step before the decode...). check out the attached test script, which contains an iso8859 string to log. if you run it (at least under python 2.6) with LC_CTYPE=anything utf8 or plain C/POSIX then it works fine. if your CTYPE is iso88591, then the first decode of x works but the second decode fails, and we get the ascii can't encode complaint. i've just changed the debian version (0.6.20-2) to do the decode in log.py conditionally: _logger.log(DupToLoggerLevel(verb_level), s if (isinstance(s,unicode)) else s.decode(utf8, ignore)) regards, az ** Attachment added: test script for the decode-ascii-issue https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/duplicity/+bug/989496/+attachment/3483743/+files/dreck.py -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/989496 Title: UnicodeDecodeError during backup due to non-utf8 translation To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/duplicity/+bug/989496/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1086345] Re: Quantal-LTS-stack: Showing low-resolution screen on shutdown/reboot
Either a bug in plymouth, or libdrm. Thanks for finally giving me data to back up my suspicion that renaming was a bad idea. There are 2 possible paths forward: - Plymouth always using the 'dumb' api, if available. This will probably need a new version of plymouth, however, and only has been the default on raring. - Drop libdrm renaming, and just upload a new libdrm version. The only reason to put it in was for making plymouth pick up on the old libdrm anyway. The third option, renaming plymouth, is nearly impossible without changing a LOT of packages. Eventually we'll need to do the former, but I think for now we don't want to do that since it's only been the default in raring. As such I believe we should wait until the raring release before we do that, since I'm not comfortable just uploading a complete new version of plymouth this late in the cycle. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1086345 Title: Quantal-LTS-stack: Showing low-resolution screen on shutdown/reboot To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libdrm/+bug/1086345/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
