[Bug 951585] Re: gvfsd-afp consumes 100% of processor cycles

2013-02-27 Thread guncharly
Same problem on 12.10 64 bits. When connecting in afp to Synology NAS,
gvfsd-afp-browse process consume almost 100% of CPU, even after closing
nautilus.

Chris,

I'll try to get to this by the weekend. Thank you for your
perseverance.

Richard Elkins, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an
issue? If so, could you please provide the information following
 https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingKernelSuspend ?

As well, could you please test for this with the latest development
release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from
 http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications-Accessories-Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

 apport-collect -p linux replace-with-bug-number

Also, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available
following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow
additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Please do not test
the kernel in the daily folder, but the one all the way at the bottom.
Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel
version specifically you tested and remove the 'needs-upstream-testing'
tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the
tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the
 'needs-upstream-testing' text.

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER', where VERSION-NUMBER is the
version number of the kernel you tested.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:
 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER', where VERSION-NUMBER is the
version number of the kernel you tested.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, please comment as to why
specifically you were unable to test it and add the tag: 'kernel-unable-
 to-test-upstream'.

Please let us know your results. Thank you for your understanding.

[Bug 1134503] [NEW] CVE-2013-0349

2013-02-27 Thread John Johansen
*** This bug is a security vulnerability ***

Public security bug reported:

Linux kernel built with Bluetooth stack and HIDP support CONFIG_BT=y/m
CONFIG_BT_HIDP=y/m is vulnerable to an information disclosure flaw
caused by wrongly initializing the hid_device-name, physical location
and unique identifier variables. Information leakage happens if these
variables are not NULL('\0') terminated. An unprivileged user/program
could cause this via ioctl(HIDPCONNADD) call.

[Bug 1134440] Re: Dead acute with C results in C-cedilla instead of C-acute

2013-02-27 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1134440/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 1133627] Re: usb.2 hub goobay 93896

2013-02-27 Thread Joseph Salisbury
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v3.8 kernel[0] (Not a kernel in the daily directory) and install both
the linux-image and linux-image-extra .deb packages.

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:
'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot,
please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'.
Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as
Confirmed.

Thanks in advance.

[Bug 1132477] Re: DMA: Out of SW-IOMMU space for xx bytes at device [AR8151 network]

2013-02-27 Thread Joseph Salisbury
Can you confirm rc1 of v3.8 also exhibits this bug. That kernel can be
downloaded from:
v3.8-rc1: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.8-rc1-raring/

If rc1 has this bug, I can bisect between v3.7 final and v3.8-rc1.

Also, ensure you install both the linux-image and linux-image-extras
.deb packages.

Thanks again!

[Bug 1015010] Re: Cannot connect to Samsung Galaxy S III

2013-02-27 Thread Alexander Winizki
I can confirm what #14 wrote - I use Ubuntu 12.04 and Samsung Galaxy
SIII + Android 4.1; installed only gmtp and its dependencies and it
works with gMTP as described in #14 - but don't hit connect before the
phone has made beep -beep because then it won't work either. In
Nautilus, the access to the phone is still write-only.

[Bug 874229] Re: Realtek RTL8188CE WiFi not working under Linux 3.0.x in 11.10

2013-02-27 Thread Raymond Martin
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 882779 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/882779

Workaround for this bug in my case is to blacklist the specific wireless
kernel module and fall back on phys0 that was being used in version
priro to 11.10.

I just added the following to /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf and after
reboot or unload/reload modules all is well.

# hp wireless issues under 3.x kernel?
blacklist hp_wmi

I did this for two laptops with almost the same specs.

Check and see if you two modules for wifi trying to load and figure out
the proper name, not the same as indicated by rfkill necessarily.

[Bug 1134389] Re: Broadcom Sta/wl Drivers causes random kernel panics on ubuntu raring

2013-02-27 Thread Kimr1508
I receive kernel panic after a random number of minutes (normally 2 - 15
minutes) when I use Transmission. When doing casual web browsing I do
not get any panic, so maybe it is network load related.

If I boot with kernel 3.5 there are no problems at all.

The kernel panic on broadcom 4312 can also be reproduced copying a large
file to another computer (samba share). So it is not only when
Transmission is used to generate network traffic .

[Bug 1109251] Re: pidgin hangs on startup

2013-02-27 Thread bwat47
@zarquon, agreed, and even worse empathy is constantly unreliable when
it comes to connecting to accounts, it loves to randomly disconnect or
refuse to connect at all, and its gotten even more unreliably since the
introduction of UOA's buggy single-sign-on. And in raring empathy/UOA is
also broken as all hell right now leaving no good IM solution for
raring: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/empathy/+bug/1116449

[Bug 882779] Re: WLAN card cannot be activated, it is hard-rfkill-ed and fn-f2 does not work

2013-02-27 Thread Raymond Martin
Workaround for this bug in my case is to blacklist the specific wireless
kernel module and fall back on phys0 that was being used in version
priro to 11.10. I filed a duplicate bug:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/874229

I just added the following to /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf and after
reboot or unload/reload modules all is well.

# hp wireless issues under 3.x kernel?
 blacklist hp_wmi

I did this for two laptops with almost the same specs.

Check and see if you have more than one module for wifi trying to load
and figure out the proper name to blacklist, not the same as indicated
by rfkill necessarily.

[Bug 1134525] [NEW] Network Manager Applet does not list VPN connections after login

2013-02-27 Thread Richard Merren
Public bug reported:

I use vpnc through network manager. When I start up my laptop, at the
login screen the network manager finds my wifi connection and connects
before login. That is all good. But when I log in and then click on
the network manager applet to try and connect to a VPN connection, my
VPN connections are not listed. The VPN Connections list is empty.
If I disable and then re-enable wireless, the connections show up.

I assume this is a permissions issue...The VPN connections list must be
populated before I log in, and the connection I am looking for is not
set to be available to all users.

This is not a major issue, just a nuisance--I have to disconnect and
reconnect wifi after login if I want to use the VPN, but that workaround
takes care of the problem.

I am on ubuntu 12.10 with an up-to-date system (3.5.0-25-generic
#39-Ubuntu SMP Mon Feb 25 18:26:58 UTC 2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64
GNU/Linux). Here are some other versions:

network-manager 0.9.6.0-0ubuntu7
network-manager-gnome 0.9.6.2-0ubuntu6

[Bug 1134289] Re: wired connection not recognizing cable

2013-02-27 Thread Joseph Salisbury
Did this issue start happening after an update/upgrade? Was there a
kernel version where you were not having this particular problem? This
will help determine if the problem you are seeing is the result of the
introduction of a regression, and when this regression was introduced.

[Bug 1134153] Re: Thinkpad X61 doesn't suspend

2013-02-27 Thread Joseph Salisbury
I'd like to perform a bisect to figure out what commit caused this
regression. It would be very helpful to know the earliest kernel where
the issue started happening as well as the latest kernel that did not
have this issue.

Can you test the following kernels and report back? We are looking for
the first kernel version that exhibits this bug:

v3.6 final: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.6-quantal/
v3.7 final: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.7-raring/
v3.8-rc1: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.8-rc1-raring/

You don't have to test every kernel, just up until the kernel that first
has this bug.

Thanks in advance!

[Bug 1134533] [NEW] set java path

Public bug reported:

The script make-sqldeveloper-package should modify the
/usr/bin/sqldeveloper script to set a standard ubuntu java path and no
asking Type the full pathname of a J2SE installation (or Ctrl-C to
quit), the path will be stored in ~/.sqldeveloper/jdk. If the user has
~/.sqldeveloper/jdk it should be preferred.

solved the problem with xorg-x11-drv-ati-7.0.0-0.9 driver. Is it
possible to use the same driver with ubuntu?

[Bug 1134557] [NEW] [xorg-edgers][Unity 7 series]GPU lockup/Screen corruption on drag and drop in launcher

2013-02-27 Thread Loris Zinsou
Public bug reported:

My hardware is an Intel HD 3000/i7 GPU.

To reproduce this bug :
- you have to install the xorg edgers packages (mesa)
- you have to run Unity 7 series, either from staging PPA or Raring
- try repositioning an icon in Unity launcher by draging and dropping

Expected result :
- icon repositioning

Actual result :
- GPU lockup, screen corruption, display flickering
- killing Unity process doesn't work (corruption is persisting), you have to
restart X.

Now, nvidia-current is installed successfully and the build goes on to
