Public bug reported:

When the System Settings dialog is opened, it fails to navigate to any

automatically reopening. Therefore I cannot adjust these settings via

in the latest update package.

[Bug 1134036] Re: Package install hangs if LC_ALL is not set

2013-03-01 Thread Raphaël Badin
The links aren't that useful because it's showing the post-facto state. If
you could deliberately unset LC_ALL and then install the
packages from scratch it would be closer to my own experience.

That's what I did and it seems fine (easy to recreate on a canonistack
instance): http://paste.ubuntu.com/5575795/

Am I missing something?

[Bug 1123588] Re: wrong usage of the `malloc' function attribute

2013-03-01 Thread James Hunt
Scott is right - the description of this attribute *has* changed.
Compare the current description to:

http://web.archive.org/web/20060824111504/http://gcc.gnu.org/onlinedocs/gcc
/Function-Attributes.html

Hence, either the attribute used to be incorrectly described and we were
just lucky not to see any issues until now, or the meaning of this
attribute has been changed by the gcc folk since it was introduced.

2013-03-01 Thread Innocent Bystander
Hi

I've turned lots of things off so it might take me a while to get this
to you. I thought I had nepomuk completely suppressed however I see it
is still running.

I have attached the output from the command which I just issued. So
obviously something is still running. I am still getting corruption of
the file system also.

I have attached also a list from the Ubuntu sw management tool to show
which versions are installed.

Thanks for following this up.

Tim Josling

However, I really need ps to not truncate the output...does

ps -wweo pid, state, args | grep nepomuk

work for you? I only need the results from the first test again.

 It should look something like:
 2487 S /usr/bin/nepomukserver

Could you also tell me exactly the version of the nepomuk package

[Bug 1137436] [NEW] [IEC PineTrail] suspend/resume failure

2013-03-01 Thread Brad
Public bug reported:

I installed Ubuntu via USB and I picked for it to replace the current
operating system completely. I ended up trying this process two
additional times because I thought there was an error in the
installation. When I boot I can hear the familiar hand drum log screen
sound but my display is black. I then later figured out that (at the
point of the black screen) if I close the lid of my Chromebook and then
open it immediately after, the Ubuntu log in screen appears like it
should. So at least I can get logged in. Another problem upon finally
getting the Ubuntu log in screen to appear is that my chromebook's fan
seems to be running hard than it ever has before (that includes running
Chrome OS, Chrubuntu 12.04, trying Ubuntu 11.04 from USB boot, and
Insyde H20 BIOS). This kind of worries me because the fan seems to be on
a constant full blast and has not stopped once since I have logged in to
Ubuntu 13.04.

On another note, there need to be more custom keyboard configuration to
take adtantage of all of the Chromebook keys, like brightness up/down,
browser back/forward page buttons, browser refresh, and window
switching. I an pleased to see at least volume shortcuts.

[Bug 1130084] Re: restore IM presence at startup

2013-03-01 Thread John Lea
** Description changed:

I think unity (or the presence chooser component top-right of the
screen) should restore the last presence at startup. So if I was online
when I shutdown my PC, I should be online when I boot it. This is what
  gnome-shell does.

Since I switched from gnome-shell to unity, I have often coworkers
complaining that I'm offline on XMPP so they cannot IM me. This is
because it is annoying to have to remember to change my presence after
  every session login.

[Bug 1088733] Re: Regression in dib0700 dvb-t driver

2013-03-01 Thread Stephen Thirlwall
Thanks again Joseph.

Alan - I'm quite certain your patch fixes the problem for me.

I've now tried at least ten first-after-reboot recordings, and every
single one has worked. I've also tried plenty of other combinations,
including multiple simultaneous recordings, and no failures there
either.

The kernel panics also happen in the unpatched kernel - this appears to
be some unrelated issue.

I find this issue in my stable folsom, but unortunately it occurs randomly, and

At the second time when this issue occurs, I try to restart libvirtd and don't
restart nova-compute, the nova-compute continues to running after I restart

We may need to add a timeout when nova-compute call libvirt apis.

[Bug 1126560] Re: /etc/networking/* are executed multiple times

2013-03-01 Thread Sworddragon
I have now extended my script with $IFACE and the result is very
annoying. On restarting the network with /etc/init.d/networking restart
(network_restart2.log) --all and eth0 were registered. I'm wondering why
eth0 is registered there if --all is already used or why lo is missing.
On rebooting the system (network_reboot2.log) it is more confusing. eth0
was registered on if-pre-up.d 2 times, lo 1 time and --all 1 time. On
if-up.d lo, eth0 and --all were registered 1 time. I'm wondering here
too why --all is registered if eth0 and lo are already registered. But
it is even annoying why eth0 was registered 2 times on if-pre-up.d. The
difference why restarting the network is calling the scripts
sequentially and rebooting the system parallel makes the chaos perfect.

[Bug 1137481] [NEW] Keyboard delays a few seconds

2013-03-01 Thread Sworddragon
Public bug reported:

I'm using Ubuntu 13.04 dev with openbox 3.5.0-6 and sometimes after some
time I get the problem that the keys on my keyboard are delaying all
input a few seconds. This means I have to hold down a key a few seconds
until the system is registering the key. This happens on the USB port
and on the PS2 port (with an adapter). Replugging the keyboard or
rebooting the system solves this issue.

I'm noticing the problem at most on playing games, especially after
pressing a lot of times shift in combination with another keys. But I'm
not able to find an exact way to reproduce this problem. I couldn't even
found any combination on my window manager that causes this behavior.

Fixed by manually deleting package adobereader-enu.

This should be fixed by using replaces or conflicts in control file

[Bug 1135668] Re: Intel graphics fails when bringing monitor out of sleep

2013-03-01 Thread Chris Wilson
Hmm. We get a hotplug disconnection event from the HDMI:

[ 6866.046586] [drm:drm_helper_hpd_irq_event], [CONNECTOR:20:HDMI-A-3]
status updated from 1 to 2

and then proceed to turn it off. We've been having issues with HDMI
hotplug detection on IvyBridge and there is one patch en route that
should help:

commit 202adf4b9f5957b26a1cb97267d78e0edb319c5e
Author: Daniel Vetter daniel.vet...@ffwll.ch
Date: Fri Feb 22 00:53:04 2013 +0100

drm/i915: Revert hdmi HDP pin checks

Hopefully that will turn up in the Ubuntu kernel in time.

All right. Please run 'software-center' in a terminal and attach the
output of that command to this bug. It should contain some information
about this error.

Also run 'apport-collect 1134487' to attach the debugging information to
this bug report.

well, you don't even have the patch command installed, so dkms won't be able to

either a missing dependency, or you've manually removed the patch package.

[Bug 1067434] Re: Sound output device keeps changing when using headphones

2013-03-01 Thread Zurd
I do have a front audio jack on my computer case. There's a cable in my
computer case going from that front audio port to my motherboard. That
cable has 2 ends, without opening my case and if I remember correctly
one is HDA HD and the other end is AC '97, I tried both ends and I also
tried not plugging it. Same problem. I'm not entirely sure about all of
this, if you think the problem is likely with this cable, let me know
and I will re-test it again.

[Bug 1137513] [NEW] Wireless 168c:001c with ath5k on Acer Aspire One AOA150 download checksum fails

2013-03-01 Thread Roman Yepishev
Public bug reported:

Hello,

This looks like a return of bug 610078. Generating a file full of
1234567890\n on the server side and downloading the file via the
wireless interface on Acer Aspire One AOA150 creates the file of the
same size but with different content. The changed lines are (lineno:text
format):

493694:120
493767:123456
1648014:12345234567890

The file is 9448764 bytes long. At some point parts of previous packet
happen to be seen again, overwriting the real contents. This causes
problems with downloading updates and general browsing on this device.

[Bug 1137513] Re: Wireless 168c:001c with ath5k on Acer Aspire One AOA150 download checksum fails

2013-03-01 Thread Roman Yepishev
** Description changed:

  Hello,

This looks like a return of bug 610078. Generating a file full of
1234567890\n on the server side and downloading the file via the

GCC 4.7 FSF branch does not support -ftree-coalesce-vars till now. But
GCC 4.7-linaro supports that. Disabling (-fno-tree-coalesce-var) will

[Bug 934469] Re: Virtual terminals resets Bash history to last 500 entries even when it is set to more entries

2013-03-01 Thread TomasHnyk
So it is no bug. There are two types of shell, login (from a tty) and
non-login (from x, so gnome-terminal, xterm and other emulators). Login
looks to .profile, .bash_profile or .bash_login and sources those files
whereas non-login sources .bashrc (it is more complicated, actually, see
the man page).

Ubuntu by default puts this .profile file in home users directory:

# ~/.profile: executed by the command interpreter for login shells.
# This file is not read by bash(1), if ~/.bash_profile or ~/.bash_login
# exists.
# see /usr/share/doc/bash/examples/startup-files for examples.
# the files are located in the bash-doc package.

# the default umask is set in /etc/profile; for setting the umask
# for ssh logins, install and configure the libpam-umask package.
#umask 022

# if running bash
if [ -n $BASH_VERSION ]; then
# include .bashrc if it exists
if [ -f $HOME/.bashrc ]; then
. $HOME/.bashrc
fi
fi

# set PATH so it includes user's private bin if it exists
if [ -d $HOME/bin ] ; then
PATH=$HOME/bin:$PATH
fi

Which reads .bashrc even for login shells. I must have inadvertedly
deleted my -profile page. I guess you did the same. So closing this as
invalid, for user must call this upon herself by her own devices.
