[Bug 441686] Re: "Task cannot be monitored or controlled" alert is unhelpful and scary

We could add this functionality to either gtk3widgets or all the
clients. Depends a little on the direction we want to take with
software-center/unity.

[Bug 461141] Re: ntop produces 100% CPU load after suspend

2013-03-03 Thread max
Does anyone know if this is being looked at? ntop is frequently
consuming 100% of 1 CPU

I 'kill' ntop and then at some point it occurs again - twice today :(
for the moment I've uninstalled it

in my case this is not related to suspend at all

btw - I'm running 12.10

[Bug 982889] Re: X trying to start before plymouth has finished using the drm driver

2013-03-03 Thread Mark Murphy
I think I was a bit confused this morning!

I've done a few cold boots and restarts since then, I've included them
in the attached file. I included all the Xorg log files in the first
directory. The first four directories in the tar contain log files from
cold boots, the last one is a reboot.

apt-cache policy xserver-xorg-core provides following printout:
xserver-xorg-core:
  Installed: 2:1.13.2-0ubuntu3~lp982889~1
  Candidate: 2:1.13.2-0ubuntu3~lp982889~1
  Version table:

Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
 2:1.13.2-0ubuntu2 0
500 http://ie.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ raring/main i386 Packages

Hope this helps.

It doesn't work in this case though. See initial post. I can confirm
that it does not work. I am not sure if it is possible for us to change
the input? I guess it has to be done by the developer.

[Bug 1142575] [NEW] bombono-dvd-data is somewhat broken since Ubuntu Precise

2013-03-03 Thread Ilya Murav'jov
Public bug reported:

Hi Alessio,

I see the difference between the files resources/frames in the upstream
package and those in the bombono-dvd-data package.

For example, the images in /usr/share/bombono/resources/frames/rect
folder of bombono-dvd-data is not the same as in the upstream (i.e. they
have 3 channels without alpha channel, not 4 as needed), and so the
"rect" frame do not work properly in Menu Editor of the program: Menu
tab => Add Item. Is there a need to modify the images?

Please fix it.

Regards,
Ilya Murav'jov, the developer of Bombono DVD

You can run `apt-cache policy xserver-xorg-core` to see if it's
installed. It won't be reflected in your Xorg.0.log until you restart.

[Bug 1016613] Re: application launcher icons are mixed with icons of minimized windows

2013-03-03 Thread matteo sisti sette
I forgot, there is one thing that is CERTAINLY bug (even from the point of view
of those who don't consider this issue a bug):
SOME applications have their open window icons separated from the launcher icon
(and the launcher icon keeps opening new windows), while OTHER applications
have the open windows share the same icon as the launcher icon.

This is inconsistent and hence a bug. Even those insane people who think
it's ok to reuse the launcher icon for open windows, will agree that all
applications should share the same behavior.

QT app compiz thinks the menu is another window and it shows up as
"untitled window" I saw this in xubuntu 13.04 + compiz as window manager
and in a fresh 13.04 unity install.

In addition if you go fullscreen in vlc or smplayer and bring up the
floating controls it glitches out and stops letting you bring them up,
you also occasionally see flashes of the unity launcher/menu bar when
you bring them up. This is a very big regression, and QT video players
  are basically unusable...

I also get random invisible menus in QT applications

Here is a video showing the untitled window bug and an issue with
invisible menus in QT apps (you can see at the end the tools menu is
- totalyl invisible, this happens in every single qt app and is easy for
+ totally invisible, this happens in every single qt app and is easy for
  me to reproduce):
  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eTOAHeOwdko&feature=youtu.be

I wasn't able to catch the fullscreen controls bug on video for some
reason, that one only seemed to happen when I was in unity.
+
+ I initially thought this was something wrong with my install or
+ something to do with XFCE, so I tried downloading a fresh ubuntu/unity
+ raring ISO and saw the same issues there.

[Bug 1142511] [NEW] Calendar Authentication requests password in Ubuntu 12.10

2013-03-03 Thread JCortez
Public bug reported:

I just upgraded from Ubuntu 12.04 to 12.10. After I restarted with the
new version of Ubuntu a window shows up very often asking for a
password. The title of the window is "Calendar Authentication Request".
The text withing the window says something like "Please enter your
password for calendar 'nameofcalendar' user:u...@domain.com
host:www.google.com".

I don't remember having configured my gmail calendar to work offline.
Maybe I did, I want this message to stop showing up as it is EXTREMELY
ANNOYING.

I have uninstall Evolution. I even removed the directory at
~/.local/share/evolution, but the window still shows up.

[Bug 217297] Re: lsb_release crashed with IOError in getstatusoutput()

2013-03-03 Thread Christian
Same problem with my laptop 3.2.0-38-generic #61-Ubuntu SMP Tue Feb 19 12:18:21
UTC 2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux with fresh updates. I have the
impression that this in my case always happened when the update manager starts
automatically.
I friend of mine, whom I installed her laptop to try Ubuntu along with Windows
also has this error message quite a lot of times.

[Bug 1015223] Re: cloud-init-nonet main process killed by TERM signal

2013-03-03 Thread Sean Channel
ading "normal exit SIGTERM" to /etc/init/cloud-init.conf will probably
suppress the appearance of normal termination messages in dmesg. What
would be slightly better, though probably overkill in this case, would
be a signal handler that somehow pacifies upstart by catching SIGTERM
and exiting more gracfully with 0 status.

[Bug 1142452] [NEW] rsync throws Invalid argument (22) errors when attempting to preserve ACLs on backup to S3QL drive

2013-03-03 Thread Sarah Angelini
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu: Lucid 10.04.4
Kernel: 3.0.0-31-server
rsync: 3.0.7-1ubuntu1.1
s3ql: 1.13.1-1~lucid2

Every night we make a backup to a remote s3ql share using rsync. In the
past few days this error started showing up in the logs for every single
file:

rsync: get_acl: sys_acl_get_file(.bashrc, ACL_TYPE_ACCESS): Invalid
argument (22)

We use the -A flag to maintain ACLs in the backup. Removing that flag
eliminates the error messages, but then we're not preserving the ACLs
anymore.

The full list of flags on rsync is: -aHAXx -i --delete-during --delete-
excluded --partial --exclude [a few dirs]

S3ql did update recently, but it was 4 days before this error started
showing up. The one thing of note is that the problem didn't appear
until after I'd rebooted the system to use the new kernel version.

[Bug 1131839] Re: translation wrong to german, says (j, n) but need to input (y, n)

2013-03-03 Thread Hendrik Knackstedt
The same problem still appears in 13.04. Either translations haven't
been imported properly or Upstream translations are used. Going to check
that.

According to their homepage, upstream translations take part in
Launchpad as well, so this is not a translation bug but a localization
bug by encfs.

This bug is not in the Ubuntu package but rather in a PPA package,
apparently setup by the upstream author, which conflicts with ours.

[Bug 1142451] [NEW] [MIR] pygpgme

2013-03-03 Thread Andrew Starr-Bochicchio
Public bug reported:

Availability: The package is universe, and must build for all architectures.

Rationale: python-gpgme is a Recommends for bzr. It is needed to verify
signed GPG commits.

Security: There have been no security issues reported for the package.

Quality assurance: The package ships a test suite that is run a build
time. All tests currently pass successfully. There are no bugs against
the package. Upstream development is hosted on Launchpad. There are no
RC bugs against it in Debian. The only bugs open in Debian are a request
for more documentation (BTS #696636) which has been forwarded upstream
and a request for a new upstream release (BTS #665731) that has already
been packaged for Ubuntu.

UI standards: n/a

Dependencies: All build and binary dependencies (including Recommends:)
are satisfiable in main.

Standards compliance: The package complies with Debian Policy and other
standards.

Maintenance: I am subscribed to bug reports in Ubuntu. The Debian
maintainer has not replied to BTS #665731 which does concern me, but a
patch for BTS #700780 that I supplied was quickly uploaded. I have
offered to become a co-maintainer in Debian and suggested moving the
package to Debian Python Modules Team.

I succesfully downgraded gnome-commander from 1.2.8.15-2 to 1.2.8.13-1

described, the problem might not be in gnome-commander

[Bug 1130834] Re: Ubuntu does not boot after upgrading to Linux 3.5.0-24

2013-03-03 Thread Andreas
Thanks for the help debugging this.
The required logs are now attached.

I followed the instructions in https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingKernelBoot
It failed to boot 3.5.0-25, and I failed to take a picture of the screen.
However, next time I booted 3.5.0-25 with the debug options (to get the picture
of the screen), it successfully booted.
I booted again in 3.5.0-25, but after a short while it hang (no response in the
terminal, unable to change to another tty with ctrl-alt-F1).
So now I have syslog of 2 boots into 3.5.0-25 followed by one boot into
3.5.0-23. They are attached.
I am not able to spot any problems in the 3.5.0-25 boots.
I hope somebody else can.

All the best,
Andreas
