[Bug 253167] Re: Rhythmbox sort by "Album Artist" for guest/compilations

2013-03-25 Thread Piedro Kulman
Annoying to see that still nobody cares!

It's been 5 years now with this bug with no intent to change it by the
devs - I don't use rhythmbox anymore for two years now.

I cannot understand the decision by Canonical to still feature this program:
it is unflexible, not lightweight in any way, buggy, not well maintained and
devs don't even care to listen to their users!

I will suggest in the Ubuntu boards to drop the program again and
replace it with clementine or guayadeque.

Congratz for 5 years of ignorance,
nice attitude dudes,
thx for reading,
piedro

[Bug 1160151] Re: X continuously freezing with /usr/share/apport/apport-gpu-error-intel.py error afterward

2013-03-25 Thread Ubu4u
I did some further testing and found that the X GPU freeze most often
occurs when the Docky app is being scrolled over. I remember seeing a
similar post mentioning that they were experiencing a GPU lockup/freeze
during transparency rendering (this would make sense with Docky).

The affected computer is a work computer, and if I'm not able to resolve
the issue within the next couple of days, my plan is to try to revert to
a previous kernel, and if that is not possible, uninstall Ubuntu all
together and install Fedora or Mint to see if their repos are less
buggy.

Yes, I would, but I still think that actually translating these hooks
will be unnecessary human effort.

[Bug 1090829] Re: grub-efi fails to install with Input/output error

2013-03-25 Thread Ubfan
I see lots of Input/Output errors when accessing the EFI/ubuntu directory, and
see a (bogus?) read only filesystem message in dmesg:
dmesg lines (probably caused by the ls command):
FAT-fs (sda2); error, fat_get_cluster: invalid cluster chain (i_pos 0)
FAT-fs (sda2): Filesystem has been set read only

But the mount command still lists the sda2 mount as rw.

The Input/Output error appears with any attempted access to the directory:
ls ubuntu, sudo mv ubuntu ..., sudo rm -rf ubuntu all produce the Input/Output
error.
I forget the error message from the third installation attempt, but it was a
failure
I expected and might have been the IO error (it was NOT the error window
produced from
the second installation attempt which apparently caused the corrupted
directory).

The error window on the second installation (to hard disk) was:
Window title: Unable to install Grub in a dummy
Text: Executing 'grub-install dummy' failed
  This is a fatal error.

Since I fixed the bad directory, and I'm not really working on my own
UEFI machine, I'll hold off on doing anything more, like running the
grub-install. I hope this helps in improving things.

A guess as to what's wrong:
Looks like an "off-by-one" error on a loop index in grub install when it
encounters an existing EFI/ubuntu directory. The directory is probably
rewritten with an extra (free) block added at the start. The dosfsck reports
such in the below terminal capture. Confirm this by looking at the filesystem
image posted above.

The fix to get rid of the corrupted directory (since rm won't work) applying
Phillip's (comment #25) suggestion:
$ sudo mount -tvfat /dev/sda2 /mnt/sda2
ubuntu@ubuntu:/mnt/sda7/etc$ ls !$
ls /mnt/sda2

[Bug 1160188] [NEW] ATH9K wireless signal weak

2013-03-25 Thread Joey Stevense
Public bug reported:

AR9485 Wireless Network Adapter has a low signal when in close range of
station.

I disabled hardware encryption with putting:
  options ath9k nohwcrypt=1
in
  /etc/modprobe.d/ath9k.conf

That doesn't seemed to help.

The signal has 2 bars while it has full strength in windows. (I am 2
meters away from the wifi station)

[Bug 1045353] Re: Commands are not displayed in the HUD

2013-03-25 Thread Stéphane Guillou
I never got to use the HUD with LibreOffice, even with the newest LO 4.0.2.1
from the LO 4.0 PPA on Ubuntu 12.10 up to date with Proposed activated.
I just get results from the indicators, even though the first HUD icon that
appears is the right LO one.

LibreOffice is probably the only app that makes me want to use the HUD
because of its extended menus and diverse functions.

How come no one is looking into it? Is the problem in Raring too?

[Bug 836533] Re: Still problems with nfs-mounts in /etc/fstab on boot

2013-03-25 Thread eel ghEEz
The "remote 0/0" speaks of issues and I see later changes in mountall.c
that could address reliability of startups.

"415 Even if the mounting/mounted event failed (due perhaps to a failure of a
job
depending on it), we still want to proceed with the mount and not just
error out."

"411 Make sure we reset the pending_call to NULL when handling the event, so
that we
correctly rehandle after a failed mount attempt."

http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-
branches/ubuntu/raring/mountall/raring/changes

I neglected to save output of mountall --verbose and I neglected to try
connecting to the system over ssh in lucid where I saw no further
upstart activity on the console after about 3 failed NFS mount attempts.

Wishlist means missing functionality.

Please note that the bug report is already tagged with "patch" and
Ubuntu Reviewers team is subscribed, who review incoming patches on
regular basis and move the bug report further in the workflow to get
this merged into the archive.

More information on how bug triange is organised in ubuntu is
available from Bug Squad wiki pages:

Many people volunteer to do work on Ubuntu, and your patch
specifically is being in progress to be reviewed and merged.
Please note that ubuntu release is immenent, and we are past Feature
Freeze. And although your patch may be merged before Raring release,
it will likely be uploaded into the archive (and land in the daily iso
image builds) early in S-series cycle.

Dmitrijs.

[Bug 1014494] Re: Improper display on Xfce 4.10/Cinnamon running on Ubuntu 12.04/Mint

2013-03-25 Thread Pablo Lalloni
Hi Michael, I'm very happy to confirm that the version currently
available on the daily ppa is working great with the new "--trayicon"
argument on 2 different boxes I run on Xubuntu 12.10, no 50% height
resize or any other problem at all! Excellent!
