[Bug 1087951] Re: mountall 100% cpu ussage

2013-04-07 Thread Helm
I have a similar problem, Ubuntu 12.04, mountall 2.36.4. I have a file-
system (/data) with 44 sqfs-images and the mountpoints for them.

In the fstab I mount first the filesystem
/dev/vg2/datalv /data ext4 noatime 0 2

and later the images
/data/sqfs/x01.sqfs /data/x/x/x01 squashfs,ro loop 0 0
...
/data/sqfs/x44.sqfs /data/x/x/x44 squashfs,ro loop 0 0

I could reproduce the infinite running mountall with 100% CPU usage on
about 2 out of 3 bootings.

The problem seems to go away after changing all lines in fstab containing sqfs
to
/data/sqfs/x01.sqfs /data/x/x/x01 squashfs,ro,_netdev loop 0 0
(adding "_netdev", probably impossible workaround on a mobile computer)

So maybe mountall goes into the infinite loop while waiting on the availbility
of the image-files, (*.iso or *.sqfs)?
I did not find any other option to make mount wait onto an other fs like
waiting on the network.

[Bug 1166017] [NEW] I can't change the default web browser

2013-04-07 Thread el_gallo_azul
Public bug reported:

what you’re trying to achieve

The default browser is Mozilla Firefox. I want to change it to Epiphany,
because it starts faster.

what steps you take

I have changed the nominated default in System Settings...-->Details-->
Default Applications to Epiphany. (I have also updated both /etc/hosts
and /etc/hostname.) I have also followed all the steps in

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WebBrowsers

which are

Setting Default Browser

In the command line, type sudo update-alternatives --config x-www-
browser

A list of installed browsers will be displayed with a different number
next to each browser. Type the number corresponding to the browser of
your choice.

defbrowser.png

what happens

However, if I right-click on a document of type 'HTML document
(text/html)', there is no 'Open with...' option, so I select 'Open', and
the web page opens with Mozilla Firefox. After carrying out each of the
above steps, I restarted my computer each time, and I have just finished
starting it again before writing this.

what you think should happen instead

If I right-click on a document of type 'HTML document (text/html)', and
select 'Open', the web page opens with Epiphany.

[Bug 571371] Re: Ubuntu One sync is ridiculously slow

2013-04-07 Thread Rayna Thompson
I upgraded the Ubuntu One storage to 45GB because I wanted to use the
built-in backup on this computer. I hadn't migrated anything yet to
this new laptop, so there is only about 2 GB to backup.

It has now been SIX hours and it isn't finished!

If this is the speed of backups, I will NOT be renewing my subscription.
Too bad I paid for the whole year. I guess I should have only gotten a
month's worth. I'm feeling a bit duped right now.

And it's also not every site that uses java that fails on Chrome. The java test

[Bug 1165732] Re: GCC 4.7.3 internal compiler error when using std::make_shared

2013-04-07 Thread Sam Spilsbury
The error is actually more to do with trying to call a class constructor
inside of make_shared that results in an error. For example, the
following will also raise an internal compiler error:

#include

class Foo
{
public:
virtual ~Foo () = default;
virtual void bar () = 0;
};

int main ()
{
auto foo = std::make_shared  ();
return 0;

[Bug 1140716] Re: [regression] 3.5.0-26-generic and 3.2.0-39-generic GPU hangs on Sandybridge

2013-04-07 Thread linrunner
I'm testing 3.5.0-27.47~lp1140716 a few days now (12.04.2, ThinkPad
X220).

It doesn't completely eliminate the hangups, but it is a *huge* improvement:
- the hangups occur less frequent, around one or two per day
- hangups are not fatal anymore, i.e. system recovers in a short time so that i
even didn't notice them so far – had to look in the syslog for them

[Bug 429373] Re: Sound is stuttering using libsdl1.2debian-pulseaudio and alsa packages.

2013-04-07 Thread shankao
In the latest version of dosbox (tested on raring), the rate seems to be
set to 44100 and prebuffer to 20 by default everywhere. Can anybody
experiencing this problem check if it's being resolved?

As a side note, uninstalling any pulseaudio package is not a good
solution but just a temporal workaround. It is the sound server used in

[Bug 1165998] [NEW] All apps move to external monitor on lid close

2013-04-07 Thread Brian Visel
Public bug reported:

Expected behaviour:
1) closing the lid does not reorganize the applications on my workspaces
or 2) opening the lid re-places applications where they came from

Actual behaviour:
When I have an external monitor plugged in and I close the lid to my laptop,
all applications from all workspace go to that monitor. When I open the lid,
they stay on the external monitor. ..so, if I've organized my workspaces at
all, that work is lost, and I have to re-organize the applications in my
workspaces.

I am using Ubuntu Gnome, 13.04. This same bug was present in gnome 3.6,
before the upgrade.

[Bug 1165994] [NEW] Wrong grub background after update-grub

2013-04-07 Thread ovdeathiam
Public bug reported:

The newly generated file /boot/grub/grub.cfg is missing lines 90,91,92
compared to the livecd or postinstallation file.

Fresh installation of Ubuntu 13.04 /boot/grub/grub.cfg contains these lines
(87-93):
### BEGIN /etc/grub.d/05_debian_theme ###
set menu_color_normal=white/black
set menu_color_highlight=black/light-gray
if background_color 44,0,30; then
  clear
fi
### END /etc/grub.d/05_debian_theme ###

When I use update-grub the whole if function is missing resulting in a
monochromatic grub theme instead of the default background color:
### BEGIN /etc/grub.d/05_debian_theme ###

set menu_color_highlight=black/light-gray

[Bug 1165985] [NEW] 13.04 - kernel panic - unable to handle kernel paging request ffffffec -- Dell Inspiron 9300

2013-04-07 Thread Charles Ford
Public bug reported:

The same kernel panic that I had before
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1164788)

This is a new daily build though, so I'm reporting a new bug.

I'm thinking it's a fan issue - overheating, though not while on AC power. If I
unplug it and let it sit on carpet, the fans won't go high, but it's quite
likely that it'll throw this kernel panic out.

I'll get the upstream kernel installed in a moment and see if it duplicates.

[Bug 954661] Re: backlight brightness not adjustable by default on Dell XPS 13

2013-04-07 Thread victorhqc
Sane bug here.
I'm using the XPS 13 (Sandy Bridge).
Ubuntu 13.04 (3.8.0-16-generic)
Using "/bin/echo 0 > /sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight/brightness" fixes the
issue.
Perhaps there's a rollback?

Regards

[Bug 696883] Re: btnx won't start

2013-04-07 Thread longbuxu
I'm writing to confirm the method above. It works!
After force closing btnx-config, it won't open any more. Restart, purge remove,
re-install won't work.

You have to delete 2 configs files: /etc/btnx/btnx_manager and
/etc/btnx_config_Default.
In folder /etc/btnx, there's another file /etc/btnx/events, don't delete this
"events" file.
If you do, just reinstall the packages.

Then btnx-config will work again.
This is one of the counter-intuitive hassles of linux world that make me jump
back to Windows, MacOS.
LBX.

[Bug 1165741] Re: [needs packaging] phonon-vlc 0.6.2

2013-04-07 Thread Dave Lentz
It's already in the latest release (ubuntu 13.04):
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/phonon-backend-vlc/0.6.2-1
If you want it backported to earlier releases, you'll have to go through SRU
procedure: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates
I doubt this qualifies as a "high-impact" bug, though.

[Bug 1149269] Re: Dell Precision T1650 - FWTS reports critical errors during Suspend/Resume testing

2013-04-07 Thread Alex Hung
This is a common BIOS bug and it is caused by BIOS AML trying to access
a variable that is outside the input buffer "arg0", i.e. the below code:

CreateWordField (Arg0, 0x11, IRQE)

In ACPI spec, _SRS's input buffer needs to be the same size of _CRS as
defined below:

6.2.15 _SRS (Set Resource Settings)
This optional control method takes one byte stream argument that specifies a
new resource
allocation for a device. The resource descriptors in the byte stream argument
must be specified
exactly as listed in the _CRS byte stream – meaning that the identical resource
descriptors must
appear in the identical order, resulting in a buffer of exactly the same length.

However, BIOS returns a smaller buffer in \_SB_.PCI0.LPCB.UAR1._CRS, and
kernel pass the small buffer to _SRS where it fails - and it simply
means that BIOS AML did not complete configuration for UAR1 device
(serial port).

Fortunately, UAR1 (serial ports) rarely needs BIOS's AML to configure -
they are configured in BIOS's POST and/or by device driver. This error
does not acutally cause any funtion failure or instablity according to
the past experiences.
