[Bug 830663] Re: default window size is too small
Ryan, can you add some debug dump of the size the window is being set to? On OSX and Ubuntu I've tried it sets things as expected, so there might be some issue either with the width not being reported correctly to inkscape, or the size setting not being accepted by the window manager. [Bug 1176771] [NEW] source code should be converted from noweb to C
Public bug reported: The source code of this package has been written as a single large NoWeb file. The Makefile automatically converts it into C and documentation. However, I found this initially mystifying, as I suspect it would also be to other casual readers who would like to know better how the software works. I imagine it also makes it difficult to maintain. It would be easy enough to convert it to a conventional C project: Run the makefile to generate the C files. Generate again a few C files that get deleted, for some reason. Clean up the C files by removing #line indicators and reindenting. Copy any useful documentation from the noweb file into new C comments. Rework the makefile to build from C, removing references to noweb. Delete unneeded noweb files and build tools. ** Affects: ifupdown (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1176771 Title: source code should be converted from noweb to C To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ifupdown/+bug/1176771/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1176760] [NEW] Odd drag-to-maximize behavior with dual monitors
Public bug reported: I use two monitors (of slightly different resolution), and I noticed that Rhythmbox doesn't behave as expected when trying to maximize in the other window by dragging (using the mouse cursor) the title bar of the app to the top of the other monitor. Other apps (firefox, nautilus) work fine when I try to do this - if I have them maximized or windowed on one monitor, I can drag the app by its title bar to the top title bar of the other monitor, and the app will resize to take up the whole screen. When I try this with rhythmbox, though, the monitor I'm dragging it to colors in with orange as if it is going to take over that screen, but then it snaps back full size on the original monitor. I can successfully get it to go the other monitor if I try to do one of those Windows 7-style half-screen snap things by dragging it to the left or right edge of the destination monitor, and then from there I can make the app maximize by hitting the maximize button or dragging the snapped window to the top of the screen. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. I'd recommend performing a back up of your existing operating system and then investigating the situation. [Bug 1096826] Re: Syscall param sendmsg(mmsg[0].msg_hdr) points to uninitialised byte(s)
I'm seeing this same valgrind error when using libcurl4-openssl-dev, ostensibly because libcurl is making similar calls to the ones suggested by the OP. The "issue" seems to be realted to a glibc change to the way some sendmsg() variables are handled: http://sourceware.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=14687. The solution may be to update the valgrind suppression files to include this "error" as opposed to "fixing" glibc. ** Bug watch added: Sourceware.org Bugzilla #14687 http://sourceware.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=14687 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1096826 Title: Syscall param sendmsg(mmsg[0].msg_hdr) points to uninitialised byte(s) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/glibc/+bug/1096826/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Public bug reported: CID: 201209-11719 (Dell VOSTRO 2421) With this card reader: 0bda:0129 Realtek Semiconductor Corp. Steps: 1. Insert a MMC/SD/SDHC card. (The file browser will pop out, an icon will appear on the launcherc, device will be mounted under /media/) 2. Remove the pre-inserted card. Expected Results: 1. The card will be removed from the /media, the icon will disappear from the launcher, the file browser closed. 2. Open a file browser, and it's not in the devices section of the left column. Actual Results: 1. The card will be removed from the /media, the icon will disappear from the launcher, the file browser closed. 2. It still listed in the devices section, if you click on it in the file browser, an error pops, telling you the device was not found, and the disappears from the left column of the file browser. The reason seems to be the eject event is not being sent through dbus. Will try update later to see if it can be solved. [Bug 1176710] [NEW] avahi-daemon script holds up run-parts in the if-up.d directory
Public bug reported: Hi, I hope this is the right forum, or product, to report this issue I found on a fresh Kubuntu 13.04 install. I'm using the networkmanager to handle networking, and everything is running with default settings. I noticed that executing the /usr/lib/avahi/avahi-daemon-check-dns.sh script takes quite a bit of time to complete. I have persistent wired network, so the avahi-daemon script in /etc/network/if-up.d directory tries to execute this when I start up my computer. Apart from a prolonged startup time, my real problem was that none of the scripts, which are alphabetically after avahi-daemon were executed, because networkmanager has a timeout of some sort on starting up the network - which eventually always kicked in. My solution was to simply run the mentioned script in the background, so I modified the avahi-daemon script as follows: exec /usr/lib/avahi/avahi-daemon-check-dns.sh & This fixed the problem, but at this stage I'm not sure if I introduced any other:) Thank you, David ** Affects: avahi (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1176710 Title: avahi-daemon script holds up run-parts in the if-up.d directory To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/avahi/+bug/1176710/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1133663] Re: Extract Here fails to preserve timestamps for non-empty folders
This BUG manifests in 12.10, 13.04 and 13.10 but NOT in 12.04 Apparently this functionality is either considered perfect and/or not important enough to warrant QA regression testing. When a non-empty directory gets extracted, its datetime stamp is immediately restored but recursive extraction of its content (files, folders, etc) will update that directory's datetime stamp with the time of extraction. In 12.04, the datetime stamp restoration was delayed until after all content had been extracted. Until it gets fixed upstream (2013 perhaps), the following CLI command will allow proper extraction of a tar.bz2 archive: tar --delay -xvf tar-archive-name tar -xvf tar-archive-name MAY yield unpredictable results My eyes have trouble seeing the double hypen in "--dash" as I type this, so I will refer to them as "hyphen hyphen". [Bug 1176704] [NEW] Seeking through tracks after resuming
Public bug reported: About 50% of the time, when I resume Rhythmbox from a paused state it will seek forward an unspecified amount of time, anywhere from a few seconds to several tracks. It seeks at about 1min/sec. It seems to me as if it is trying to find an uncorrupted part to play, but the tracks work fine before pausing. [Bug 1176699] [NEW] /dev/sda and /dev/sda drives in reverse order??
Public bug reported: When I installed I use AHCI mode as I normally do, but this install with Ubuntu 13.04-amd64 after booting I find that /dev/sda and /dev/sdb are reversed. I have an ssd 60gig(normally sda) drive in the main bay of my Lenovo T-61 laptop for / and /home and /swap and a 1TB hdd for "Storage"(normally sdb) in the "Ultrabay" This is the only thing I could find that describes this issue that I am having: http://comments.gmane.org/gmane.linux.kernel/1382640 and this says that this commit: 0cc15d03bcccdf95e2bd82e094e6064e61b54207 is the source of the problem???(I think) I do not know how to remove this kernel patch if in fact this is the problem?? I have seen this issue before and I think it was on Ubuntu-Natty. I didn't use Natty for long due to this issue. This "bug" causes much confusion!! Doing a "sudo blkid" the drives are reversed and also in the "drive utility", fstab reports the drives correctly and also I use a system script to tell the system I have a rotational drive and a non-rotational drive for the I/O scheduler and of course if I forget to reverse this script also, the system boots with I/O scheduler "cfq" on the ssd(normally sda) and I/O scheduler "deadline" or "noop" on the rotataional 1TB drive(normally sdb). Backups are an issue as well!! I use qt4-fsarchiver for backing up and the drives are reversed there as well, and should I change the BIOS to "Compatibility Mode" to make the drives go back in order, then all of my backups are out as far as the sda's and sdb's go and qt4-fsarchiver complains that the backup doesn't match the destination descriptor i.e. "sda" or "sdb". Also, I have un-installed and re-installed a few times already in different ways but the results are the same?? i.e. normal Ubuntu 13.04 live cd, Ubuntu 13.04 netboot mini.iso and also have built the system with debbootstrap all ending with the same result, /dev/sda and /dev/sdb being reversed. The netboot install has it's own issues related to this bug, as when installing, when it comes time to install the bootloader it asks to put it on the MBR and of course I say "yes", normally the MBR would be on /dev/sda(my 60gig ssd drive) but in this case the system or installer considers my 1TB hdd as /dev/sda(in reality it is /dev/sdb) and my ssd as /dev/sdb(in reality it is /dev/sda) and proceeds to install the bootloader to the 1TB hdd drive in the "Ultrabay"!!??? The machine will still boot in this case but still the bootloader is on the wrong drive!!??? This is very frustrating!!! As I said, this wasn't an issue on Ubuntu 12.04,12.10!! Now I am back to fighting this mess again. I hope I have explained this well enough to get a response and maybe a "fix" or "workaround" because this is really a thorn in my side! I like Ubuntu 13.04 and it performs well on this machine, but if I can't find a solution to this I think I will unfortunatly have to ditch this distro for another. Thank you very much for any help regarding this bug. [Bug 1098225] Re: [raring] BCM4313 -- bcmwl triggers panics with 3.7 and 3.8 kernels
Strangely I no longer, and this remains to be seen with more use, have this panic because I manually installed "dpgk -i 6.20.155.1+bdcom- 0ubuntu5." an older package. The version "6.20.155.1+bdcom-0ubuntu6" causes the kernel panic it seems. Futhermore my "uname -a" is "3.8.0-19-generic #30-Ubuntu x86_64". [Bug 1174640] Re: Side Pane collapsing randomly
Here is how to replicate this behaviour. Create a folder with a really long name. Drag the current Thunar window to the side of the display so it resizes to half the screen vertically. Now if you navigate into the folder with a name longer than the available space in the thunar window, it resizes the side pane to fit the folder name. But you can resize the pane manually. Even if you click on a parent of the folder with a shorter name it won't let you resize. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1174640 Title: Side Pane collapsing randomly To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/thunar/+bug/1174640/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 1176244] [NEW] [MS-7623, ATI R6xx HDMI, Digital Out, HDMI] Pulseaudio fails to detect card
You need to add radeon.audio=1 to your kernel command-line. TO do this, edit the file /etc/default/grub, and add radeon.audio=1 to the GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT line, inside the quotation.
