2013-05-23 Thread Christopher Townsend
I confirmed this on 12.10, but I don't see this on 13.04. Could someone
who was affected by this on 12.10 confirm that they no longer see this
behavior on 13.04? Marking Incomplete until there is confirmation.

Thanks!

[Bug 1183397] Re: Webapps lenses are locked in the dashbar the reboot following the webapp installation

2013-05-23 Thread Alex Chan
Sorry, jumped the gun. Am new to this, suppoedly I have to wait for
this to be triaged.

I did try to reproduce this issue, and it appears I can't remove this
webapp from my dashboard. Have the same issue with gmail. I can
uninstall it through the Ubuntu software center, but it still appears on
my dashboard.

I am running 13.04.

Perhaps this is a bigger issue with uninstalling webapps in general?

[Bug 1144322] Re: Kernel Panic in 3.8.0, 3.8.1 3.8.2 when diconnecting from network manager, using ppp0 to connect to net

Thanks for the update.

I built the next test kernel, up to the following commit:

The test kernel can be downloaded from:
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~jsalisbury/lp1144322

Can you test that kernel and report back if it has the bug or not. I
will build the next test kernel based on your test results.

Thanks in advance

[Bug 1182586] Re: CVE-2013-2070: nginx proxy_pass buffer overflow vulnerability

2013-05-23 Thread Thomas Ward
To summarize the reasons for the changes on this bug done by me:

This CVE has already been Fix Released in Saucy, as part of the
1.4.1-1ubuntu2 package, and as part of the merge of 1.4.1-1 from Debian
with the ubuntu delta that exists.

The affected versions are in Precise, Quantal, and Raring, and I have
assigned myself to those, as I will be working on preparing debdiffs for
each of the affected releases, after which a member of the security team
will be able to take a look at the debdiffs for inclusion into the
security updates.

Lucid is not affected by this CVE.

[Bug 1183489] [NEW] Empathy Contact List does not un-hide

2013-05-23 Thread PJSingh5000
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1179180 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1179180

Public bug reported:

If Empathy is started in hidden mode (using the -h option) then you can
not show the Empathy contacts list window.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Make sure Empathy is not running. If it is running quit it, or kill it from
the system monitor.
2. In a terminal, start empathy using the start hidden option, as follows:
$ empathy -h
3. Notice that empathy is now running in system moitor.
4. From the messaging menu indicator applet, select Empathy.
5. The Empathy Contact List window does *not* appear, as expected.
6. Now try to start Empathy from the Unity Dash.
7. Again, the Empathy Contact List window does not appear, as expected.
8. Notice that empathy is still running in the background in system moitor.

[Bug 1181315] Re: unregister_netdevice: waiting for lo to become free. Usage count = 2' is reported and causing kernel hang when floodlight tests are run using utah

2013-05-23 Thread Joseph Salisbury
I'd like to perform a bisect to figure out what commit caused this
regression. We need to identify the earliest kernel where the issue
started happening as well as the latest kernel that did not have this
issue.

Can you test the following kernels and report back? We are looking for
the first kernel version that exhibits this bug:

v3.8 final: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.8-raring/
v3.9-rc1: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.9-rc1-saucy

I assume 3.8 will not have the bug and v3.9-rc1 will.

Thanks in advance!

[Bug 1074840] Re: Zpaq package isnt up to date (wasnt updated over 2 years)

2013-05-23 Thread Jari Aalto
I'm the Debian maintainer of zpaq. I'd like to explain why the zpaq
hasn't been updated since.

* Not having any manual pages. the pages were hand written by me.
The pages are quite extensive in size and coverage.

* After 1.10 the zpaq infrastructure changed radically.
It was split into library part and client part.

It was not possible to upgrade to new versions as the manual pages and
all the source code very very much incompatible. It was not possible to
merge in changes. After every new release this divergency has increased.

The situation is comparable to apache1 and apache2: The Apache2 is a
rewrite and not upgradeable in source level.

I suggest that somebody opens a RFP (request for package) for zpaq2 or
zpaq-new that is based on the new infrastructure. The packager also
probably needs to start from scratch to e.g. write the associated
manual pages.

There are no viable solutions or possibilities as far as I can see to
update 1.10 any further.

Possibly this bug might be marked as wontfix in Debian tag parlance.

Re: [Bug 1183204] [NEW] unity-tweak-tool overwrites custom config without user interaction

2013-05-23 Thread J Phani Mahesh
That is a serious issue, except that I am unable to reproduce it.

Can you upgrade to 0.0.5 from our PPA and check if the problem persists?
Does opening unity-tweak-tool reset the settings or do you have to
select each tab?
Does this happen each time you use the application or only some times?
If it does not happen always, can you try to isolate one test case when
the bug can be reproduced reliably? like setting an environment variable
or doing some actions in some order, etc.

P.S : unity-tweak-tool does not have any default settings, at least none
that I recall. It queries gsettings backend and updates the user
interface when it starts. If any particular control doesn't, thats a bug
and will be fixed when found.

[Bug 1183501] [NEW] Starter and menubar shown in fullscreen on two-monitor setup

2013-05-23 Thread Hendrik Knackstedt
Public bug reported:

When running VLC on a monitor connected via VGA in fullscreen mode and
moving the mouse cursor to the primary display the Unity starter and
menubar appear on the external monitor when clicking on any item in the

scrollbars instead of the old, big scrollbars, which in our case means
having the scrollbar for the entire document instead of for just the
block with text in it. No scrollbars ever would be ideal, but that's
going to take a serious redesign.

This is a duplicate of bug #986283, so I'm marking it as such. Feel free
to propose any fixes, or report any further details, over there.

[Bug 705988] Re: [master] Untrusted packages can not be installed

2013-05-23 Thread markling
As you can see from my entry above, this effects udev. This seems quite
crucial. Isn't this a kernel-related issue? Does this mean a critical
package is not updating because its source is not trusted?

[Bug 218616] Re: file drivers/net/appletalk/cops_ffdrv.h is not free

2013-05-23 Thread Phillip Susi
That doesn't seem to be a valid copyright license at all, since it does
not state the material is copyrighted, when, by whom, nor grant any
license to copy and/or distribute. Either the original material was
flawed, leaving it now under public domain, or whoever added it to the
kernel failed to provide the proper notice, and may have infringed on
the original copyright, and it may need to be removed from the upstream
kernel. Figuring out which will require tracking down the original
source, which I can not find. I have emailed jsch...@samba.org asking
for clarification.

[Bug 705988] Re: [master] Untrusted packages can not be installed

2013-05-23 Thread markling
Regarding the workarounds given at the top of this page. 1 3 do not
apply. I followed 2. (change to main server), and Software Updater
crashed. Crash report has been sent. Package did not relaunch.

Restarted updater from the drop-down on the notification icon (still
showing yellow). The Software Updater then reported that my computer was
up to date. I clicked OK. Three minutes later, it popped up again saying
this computer is up to date. But the dropdown on the yellow notification
icon still says there are 5 updates available, as before. Clicking on
Show updates causes it again to tell me my computer is up to date. We
know it's not up to date.

Correction. I just downgraded pcmanfm to 1.0.1-0ubuntu1 from Quantal (rest of

Trying Precise next.

Note this install is Raring but updated from Bodhi Linux 2.0 to Precise
to Quantal to Raring. There are still Bodhi packages and configs
lingering. pcmanfm has been ok until I updated sources.list to Raring
though.

[Bug 1183508] [NEW] A command to scale-down a service safely.

2013-05-23 Thread David Fischer
Public bug reported:

My question is the following (maybe a feature request, I do no how to
create one) :

Imagine a service like GlusterFS requiring to migrate data from removed
bricks before shuting-down the node(s) that will be removed from the
cluster.

gluster/0 with volume1
gluster/1 with volume2 (replica=2)
gluster/2 with volume2 (replica=2)

How exactly juju triggers the hooks of the units of that service ?
I imagine that all units are aware of the departure of gluster/2 if we remove
gluster/2.

A good feature will be to have, as user, a way to express our desire to
scale-down the service without specifying one particular unit, unlike
juju remove-unit.

Another will be, as unit of the service, a way to decide to cancel or
warn the user helped by juju. For example, if the user uses juju remove-
unit gluster/0 it will loose all data of volume1 !

Kind Regards,

David

[Bug 1097839] Re: YandexMai.js test fails

2013-05-23 Thread Víctor R . Ruiz
Test case:
- Open Firefox.
- Connect to a proxy in Russia (yandex music only works from Russia, Ukraine,
Belarus and Kazakhstan).
- Go to http://music.yandex.ru/#!/artist/1404

Expected results:
- Launcher icon appears when integration occurs.
- Sound menu integrates.

Actual results:
- Launcher icon appears.
- Sound menu doesn't integrate.

Sound menu integration needs fixing. Tested in up-do-date Quantal with
quantal-proposed package version 2.2.1.

[Bug 1103428] Re: Xymon history page does not work

2013-05-23 Thread Lars Kollstedt
Hi Axel,

I can't find Ulric's patch in neither in 4.3.10 and 4.3.11 from
http://xymon.sourceforge.net/ nor in 4.3.7-1. They all still contain the bug in
strfunc.c:
|   static strbuffer_t *result = NULL;
|   char *inp, *endp;
|   char c;
|
|   if (!result) result = newstrbuffer(4096);
|   clearstrbuffer(result);

Might be the patch was in in for a short time.

But they all use /var/lib/xymon and /etc/xymon which is not suitable to the
very complex installations of Xymon Servers running Ubuntu 10.04LTS (lucid) and
12.04LTS (precise). Speaking from the Admin's view.
They are using /etc/hobbit at the moment, and might loose their whole
configuration and data when this is changed withing the stable release.

The Bug came in with the 2011-1716 Patch.

And should be all affected by this Bug. The buffer result is reused before the
code is copied out of it.
There are two ways to fix:
   - One way would be to remove the static. Which was set to prevent memory
leaks. When doing this the memory must be freed in the calling functions again,
at least when they are used in long running daemons.
   - Ulric choses the other one. This fixes the bug for a maximum amount of 10
concurrently used arguments, but is aware of producing memory leaks at all.

I'm using packages containing a modified Version of Ulric's Patch since
2013-01-29 (some days after Peters post I've put them in my PPA). They does'nt
contain the
|#if 0
|static strbuffer_t *result = NULL;
|#else
and the #endif of course. This if IMHO assumes that the fix could be disabled
by turning the if to 1, which wouldn't work.

I'm sorry I selected the wrong patch file in #22. I'll corect it, now.

Kind regards,
Lars

** Patch added: This is what I wanted to post in #22 (Patch for lucid for the
patch dir).

[Bug 1068632] Re: Amazon search results doesnt show up in dash/lens

2013-05-23 Thread Greg Lynch
I have this problem, too, but I'm in the US.

I remember Amazon results showing up a week or so ago, but today they
don't. I get U1 results when I search in the music lens, and
suggestions to install new applications when I search in the
applications lens, but neither in the home lens. I thought that used to
be different, but maybe not.

[Bug 1182124] Re: [CVE-2013-2099] ssl.match_hostname() trips over crafted wildcard names

2013-05-23 Thread Toshio Kuratomi
Note: there's now a backports module on pypi for this function:
https://pypi.python.org/pypi/backports.ssl_match_hostname/

However, it hasn't fixed this CVE upstream as fast as you have :-)

The patch introduced to fix this in saucy should be cleanly applicable
to raring.

[Bug 573690] Re: Kobil M-IDentity usb dongle : no write access anymore since 10.04

2013-05-23 Thread Stefan Schmid
Hello

New Ubuntu release, problems are back:

# uname -a
Linux eiger 3.8.0-21-generic #32-Ubuntu SMP Tue May 14 22:16:46 UTC 2013 x86_64
x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

# cat /etc/lsb-release
DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu
DISTRIB_RELEASE=13.04
DISTRIB_CODENAME=raring
DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION=Ubuntu 13.04

Command ./Start_M-IDentity_Linux starts fine until it launches the
firefox webrowser. Firefox window is visible for a split second then the
command ./Start_M-IDentity_Linux crashes without any hints on the
command line. I suppose that the firefox browser is a 32 bit programm
and can not run on 64bit ubuntu 13.04 but this is only a guess.

Installed the following packages but to no avail:
- ia32-libs
- libgtk2.0-0:i386
- libdbus-glib-1-2:i386

Any idea ?

At a glance, it looks like facter is not available in the load path of
ruby1.9. I'd start looking at the facter package.
