[Bug 1186793] Re: Updating is over insecure connection
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1186793/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package. [Bug 1183368]
Created attachment 80042 Screenshot #1 showing the options I have no extensions installed so I assume that this is part of the core functionality. I have attached two screenshots showing the problem. [Bug 461000] Re: General populace ignorance of the many flavors of Ubuntu
thought: per #11, if people are interested, they are almost certainly not ignorant of ubuntu. Hence their interest. Unless they're ACTUALLY magpies, and simply like shiny discs. (12) the route 1 approach: many of us are unofficial tech support for friends or especially the older generation. If they're not dogmaticly insistent on a certain solution that they don't actually understand, based on brainwashing (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FL7yD-0pqZg), just install Ubuntu, noting (5) (6), and bearing in mind that Ubuntu is no less intuitive to the technologically illiterate than Windows or Mac OSs. [Bug 689349]
I'm affected by this issue in all LibreOffice Versions. Surprise - the bug is still alive in V4.1 Beta 1 !!! The bug affects not only the PDF export, it is in the drawn objects itself: 1. Open Draw 2. Draw a circle IMPORTANT: You have to turn OFF antialiasing to see the two dots. 3. Now you can see two dots (upper left and lower right). You see, the dots are present in LibO already (and of course after export it to pdf. That the dots are really there you can do following: 4. Select the circle and convert it in a polygon. 5. Enter the dot edit mode Now you can see, you can edit, move and delete these dots. This is the evidence that these dots are physically there. Deleting these dots is a workaround if you need those objects. I believe these dots are in ALL predefined shapes, also in squares and rectangles. But from the very start after installation it would give me the notice: system contains faults ubuntu would work but for a shorter periode of time everytime. with this dvd it starts the installation but not even halfway through it gives a notice that there is something wrong with my harddrive. I have no idea what. That's what I'm hoping this report helps me forward. [Bug 1009312] Re: GPU loads unreliably, possible kernel timeout
apport information ** Tags added: saucy ** Description changed: WORKAROUND: If I boot my computer from battery power alone without AC, my GPU the Ubuntu splash screen load on startup. I've been running Ubuntu 12.04 for a few weeks now, I really like it, but from the beginning, I had the issue where the proprietary nvidia driver installs but fails to load (confirmed from the commandline, jockey, and the nvidia-dashboard). Over time, I've noticed that sometimes when I power on, the driver does load and I can enter a full unity session without problems, but other times, I fall back onto the VESA driver and a unity 2d session. On a whim, I finally copied logs from both successful and unsuccessful boots, cut out the times, ran a diff on them, and noticed a pattern in the kernel messages. I'm filing this bug after a successful boot so I've also attached copies of dmesg, Xorg, jockey logs from an unsuccessful boot. The first thing I saw in the logs was a timing discrepancy between the two boots, most of which is due to GPE storms. I've checked other logs and there's not a clear relation, I've had successful boots with them and unsuccessful ones without them. I do still wonder if they may be involved because it seems I'm a little luckier if I turn off and unplug any peripherals before booting. But around line 325 in my dmesg logs, at the last step that mentions my GPU (pci device :01:00.0), there is consistently at most a 6 ms delay for successful boots, but a 30 ms one for unsuccessful ones. Also, on all dmesg logs from successful boots, around line 610, the message Boot video device is recorded for the PCI number of my GPU, but for every fallback, the message never appears. That's why I'm thinking it's a kernel issue because the earliest mention of a specific driver module doesn't occur until later in the log. I'm currently using fully updated versions of nvidia driver 295.49. [Bug 1186811] [NEW] The Ubuntu installation does not create swap partition.
Public bug reported: The Ubuntu installation does not create swap partition. This issue happen with both 12.04.2 and 13.04. I tested it with two diferents pc and with a virtual machine in virtual box into Ubuntu. I tried both automatic and manual installation options during installation. The partition is created but with errors and the system can not mount the partition swap at startup. I solved the problem by booting the system from pendrive, then start gparted and format the partition again. This worked for several days, until it happened again today.
