[Bug 1186793] Re: Updating is over insecure connection

2013-06-02 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1186793/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 1183368]

2013-06-02 Thread Elicoten
Created attachment 80042
Screenshot #1 showing the options

I have no extensions installed so I assume that this is part of the core
functionality.

I have attached two screenshots showing the problem. Notice that in the
second one underneath the find box it says 13pt when I specifically
entered 13.3pt. Also I set the text to 13pt so if it really was looking
for 13pt text, it would have found the second line of text in the
document. As noted previous this does work correctly.

3) What is expected to happen in Writer via a terminal:
cd ~/Desktop wget

Ctrl+H - click dropdown box Search for - button More Options - button
Format... - in the Text Format(Search) window tab Font in text box Size
type 11.5 - button OK and underneath the Search dropdown box it notes
11.5, as it does in Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010 Word Version

4) What happens instead is it displays 12. However, it still
successfully searches and finds 11.5 so this is a cosmetic UI issue.

[Bug 1183368]

2013-06-02 Thread Elicoten
For some reason I just tried it again and it worked. However, the
display on the find and replace screen is still wrong (i.e. I entered
13.3pt but it showed 13pt on the Find Replace screen afterwards).

I have noticed the screenshot I've provided is wrong as I've entered the
wrong value into the Format box but it at least shows where the options
in question are.

[Bug 1092091] Re: Need .desktop file

2013-06-02 Thread MestreLion
The source package may contain a .desktop file, but this file is not
present in the binary package, at least for Ubuntu 12.04. The build
rules seem to ignore the file, and it is not installed.

The '.menu' file, used in the Debian Menu spec, is ignored in Ubuntu,
which uses the Freedesktop Desktop Entry and Menu Spec (
http://standards.freedesktop.org/desktop-entry-spec/latest/ ). File
should be installed to /usr/share/applications.

Also, the .desktop file in the source package has some issues:
- 'DocPath' is not a recognized key, it's valid for KDE only (see
http://standards.freedesktop.org/desktop-entry-spec/latest/ar01s05.html )
- 'Application' is not a valid category (see
http://standards.freedesktop.org/menu-spec/1.0/apa.html )
- 'Encoding' is a deprecated key (see
http://standards.freedesktop.org/desktop-entry-spec/latest/apc.html )

[Bug 1186800] [NEW] Video goes blank and system hangs (using an old kernel fix it)

2013-06-02 Thread EffE
Public bug reported:

I'm on a very old Dell C400 P3 866 with 768mb ram which still works rock
solid. I've upgraded this system from Lubuntu 12.10 to 13.04 but with
every kernel above V3.6.11 (took from mainline ubuntu) system hangs
randomly.

I tried to install Intel video drivers from
https://01.org/linuxgraphics/ (Intel(R) Linux* Graphics Installer
version 1.0.1 for Ubuntu* 13.04 (32-bit)) but this did not solve the
problem. I'm not sure if is driver or kernel related since on the last
release change the drivers curiously works using kernel V3.9 but before
revert to this release I would like to help to find a solution.

[Bug 1186801] [NEW] lifrea is completely invisible when running on xubuntu

2013-06-02 Thread Forest
Public bug reported:

The patch recently applied to liferea for Unity messaging menu support
(port-to-messaging-menu.patch) broke liferea on xubuntu. It eliminated
liferea's system tray icon, thereby making liferea inaccessible in xfce
when running minimized or started in a minimized state (as is the case
for most people who let it auto-start at login time).

Here is the changelog entry corresponding to the offending patch:

 liferea (1.8.10-0ubuntu2) raring; urgency=low

   * Port to messaging-menu. (LP: #1040259)

Sure but the strings I've noticed do not appear to be internationalized
: they are not present in launchpad, nor in transliflex where Shotwell
is 100% translated in French.

So my guess would be that there are some gettext markups missing.

[Bug 1181520] Re: 1180:0822 mmc0: Got command interrupt 0x00030000 even though no command operation was in progress.

2013-06-02 Thread petit-prince
Christopher, thank you for pointing out this wiki article. Following the
instructions, I spent the whole day testing and bisecting. I realized that some
of the kernels I previously thought worked, only work the first time I put the
card in. Once I eject the card, I need to unload and re-load the kernel modules
to get the reader working again. I suspect multiple regressions, e.g.
used to work = used to work once, but requires reload of kernel modules =
doesn't work at all. Should we treat this as multiple regressions, or as one
regression?

[Bug 461000] Re: General populace ignorance of the many flavors of Ubuntu

2013-06-02 Thread Si Dedman
thought: per #11, if people are interested, they are almost certainly
not ignorant of ubuntu. Hence their interest. Unless they're ACTUALLY
magpies, and simply like shiny discs.

(12) the route 1 approach: many of us are unofficial tech support for
friends or especially the older generation. If they're not dogmaticly
insistent on a certain solution that they don't actually understand,
based on brainwashing (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FL7yD-0pqZg), just
install Ubuntu, noting (5) (6), and bearing in mind that Ubuntu is no
less intuitive to the technologically illiterate than Windows or Mac
OSs. Then just let them get on with it. They'll have a better time than
with other OSs, and since you'll be getting the blame and the call when
anything goes wrong ANYWAY, they might as well be using something that
will go wrong a lot less.

[Bug 689349]

2013-06-02 Thread Papamatti
I'm affected by this issue in all LibreOffice Versions.
Surprise - the bug is still alive in V4.1 Beta 1 !!!

The bug affects not only the PDF export, it is in the drawn objects
itself:

1. Open Draw
2. Draw a circle

IMPORTANT: You have to turn OFF antialiasing to see the two dots.

3. Now you can see two dots (upper left and lower right).

You see, the dots are present in LibO already (and of course after
export it to pdf.

That the dots are really there you can do following:
4. Select the circle and convert it in a polygon.
5. Enter the dot edit mode

Now you can see, you can edit, move and delete these dots.
This is the evidence that these dots are physically there.
Deleting these dots is a workaround if you need those objects.
I believe these dots are in ALL predefined shapes, also in squares and
rectangles.

I found this dot-bug in LibO 3.3.4 - 4.1 beta 1
ApacheOpenOffice V3.4.1 and OpenOffice 3.2.0 are not affected by this bug!

http://cgit.freedesktop.org/mesa/mesa/commit/?id=ca9a7d975af228cabb79c3040ec67f26f94f90a2

Unfortunately the binary program is 32bit and mesa/libgl is not willing
to cross-compile

The commit made it's way into mesa-9.1.2 (Raring has currently 9.1.1 in the
repository)
I hope I'll be able to pull it from saucy and test soon

[Bug 1001925] Re: Dynamic linked version of hakyll library is missing

2013-06-02 Thread Colin Watson
Anything like this would be done across all Haskell libraries rather
than just one, and would be done in Debian. I suspect it may happen for
GHC 7.8, since GHCi will start relying on dynamic linking at that point,
but I can't say for sure as yet.

Thank you for this reply. I think it was automatically marked as a security
bug. I'm sorry as I didn't know.
Is there a way you could help me anyway?

If not, is there a way I can convey this report to the Dutch forum and
see if the community can help me with this? Please let me know how.

Goodnight!

 installation the harddisk contains faults

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears
to be a regular (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security
issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to
cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy.
Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

Status in “ubiquity” package in Ubuntu:
   New

 Bug description:
original dvd 32bit allerted me during incomplete installation the
   harddisk contains faults

what kind of faults I don't know.

   Scenario:
I just ordered an original dvd from ebay because my 12.04 dvd that burned
myself worked for a while (i checked the integrity before installing the
code/numbers were good) then it crashed several times and severeal times I
 reinstalled it deleting everything.

But from the very start after installation it would give me the
notice: system contains faults ubuntu would work but for a shorter
   periode of time everytime.

with this dvd it starts the installation but not even halfway through
it gives a notice that there is something wrong with my harddrive. I
have no idea what. That's what I'm hoping this report helps me
   forward.

[Bug 935166] Re: haskell-hledger version 0.16.1-2build3 FTBFS on armhf in precise

[Bug 1009312] Re: GPU loads unreliably, possible kernel timeout

2013-06-02 Thread Kyle Auble
apport information

** Tags added: saucy

** Description changed:

WORKAROUND: If I boot my computer from battery power alone without AC,
my GPU the Ubuntu splash screen load on startup.

I've been running Ubuntu 12.04 for a few weeks now, I really like it,
but from the beginning, I had the issue where the proprietary nvidia
driver installs but fails to load (confirmed from the commandline,
jockey, and the nvidia-dashboard). Over time, I've noticed that
sometimes when I power on, the driver does load and I can enter a full
unity session without problems, but other times, I fall back onto the
VESA driver and a unity 2d session. On a whim, I finally copied logs
from both successful and unsuccessful boots, cut out the times, ran a
diff on them, and noticed a pattern in the kernel messages.

I'm filing this bug after a successful boot so I've also attached copies
of dmesg, Xorg, jockey logs from an unsuccessful boot. The first thing
I saw in the logs was a timing discrepancy between the two boots, most
of which is due to GPE storms. I've checked other logs and there's not a
clear relation, I've had successful boots with them and unsuccessful
ones without them. I do still wonder if they may be involved because it
seems I'm a little luckier if I turn off and unplug any peripherals
  before booting.

But around line 325 in my dmesg logs, at the last step that mentions my
GPU (pci device :01:00.0), there is consistently at most a 6 ms
delay for successful boots, but a 30 ms one for unsuccessful ones. Also,
on all dmesg logs from successful boots, around line 610, the message
Boot video device is recorded for the PCI number of my GPU, but for
every fallback, the message never appears. That's why I'm thinking it's
a kernel issue because the earliest mention of a specific driver module
doesn't occur until later in the log.

I'm currently using fully updated versions of nvidia driver 295.49.

[Bug 1186811] [NEW] The Ubuntu installation does not create swap partition.

2013-06-02 Thread tres86dx
Public bug reported:

The Ubuntu installation does not create swap partition. This issue
happen with both 12.04.2 and 13.04.

I tested it with two diferents pc and with a virtual machine in virtual
box into Ubuntu. I tried both automatic and manual installation options
during installation.

The partition is created but with errors and the system can not mount
the partition swap at startup.

I solved the problem by booting the system from pendrive, then start
gparted and format the partition again. This worked for several days,
until it happened again today.

I include a picture (of gparted) with the problem.

[Bug 1186814] [NEW] [upgrade software version] mtPaint in precise is an outdated version (dev called it alpha status)

2013-06-02 Thread Flames_in_Paradise
Public bug reported:

mtpaint in Precise LTS is still version 3.31 which did get the suffix
alpha-status from it's dev.

changelog: http://mtpaint.sourceforge.net/news.html

Version 3.40 offers some exiting changes + it has left the alpha status
as declared in the changelog

since it is provided within he universe-section we'd like to ask to have
it backported.

sourcecode: http://sourceforge.net/projects/mtpaint/files/mtpaint/3.40/

It is already packaged in higher versions of Ubuntu (12.10, 13.04,
13.10).

Thanks for helping to make Ubuntu better every day in advance.

2013-06-02 Thread Taowa
This is not a bug as there is no actual problem in the code itself of
ubuntu.
