[Bug 1120319] Re: In Ubuntu in GNOME Online Account absent Exchange and Kerberos accounts

2013-06-04 Thread Jeremy Bicha
Ubuntu Online Accounts does not support Exchange or Kerberos accounts.
I'm attempting to reassign this bug so that perhaps the developers will
add it.

As a workaround you can install gnome-online-accounts. Click the second
Online Accounts button in System Settings to add those accounts. I think
you'll also need to install Evolution if you want to use those new
accounts for email.

It's not clear to me that this bug is an appropriate SRU candidate.

If you believe it is, please expand on the justification. It might help
for you to follow the SRU bug template¹ - you're also missing a test-
case we can use to verify that this bug is fixed, and what should be
checked to be confident that the change doesn't introduce any
regressions.

[Bug 1187606] [NEW] Sync dictclient 1.0.3.1+nmu1 (main) from Debian unstable (main)

2013-06-04 Thread Logan Rosen
Public bug reported:

Please sync dictclient 1.0.3.1+nmu1 (main) from Debian unstable (main)

Explanation of the Ubuntu delta and why it can be dropped:
  * Build using dh_python2.
  * Merge from debian unstable, remaining changes:
- add conflict to python2.4-dictclient to fix dapper-hardy
  upgrades
Debian is now building using dh_python2 as well, and that conflict is

[Bug 1042320] Re: The same user is listed multiple times in authentication dialog

2013-06-04 Thread Glenn Goldie
[Solved]
I've had this problem in Mint 13 (based on 12.04) as well but I finally tracked
down the cause resolved it tonight.

I only have a single user on my machine. I noticed if I started for
example gparted manually with gksudo then I just get prompted for
password. If I start gparted from the menu it is called by pkexec
(policy kit) and I am prompted to select a user and my (only) user is
displayed twice, a duplicate entry. This is different from when clean
installed when it behaved the same as the gksudo i.e. password prompt
only. I also couldn't remember exactly what had caused this to start
happening.

I found these two files that gave me a clue:

/etc/polkit-1/localauthority.conf.d/50-localauthority.conf
[Configuration]
AdminIdentities=unix-user:0

..and

/etc/polkit-1/localauthority.conf.d/51-ubuntu-admin.conf
[Configuration]
AdminIdentities=unix-group:sudo;unix-group:admin

User 0 is obviously root.
I remembered when tinkering with the /etc/sudoers file I had experimented with
group memberships. Sure enough I found my user was listed as a member of both
the sudo and the admin groups.

It seems polkit searches both these 'AdminIdentities' groups and since I
belonged to both groups I'm assuming that's why I was listed in the
pkexec authentication drop-down box twice.

As admin group is now deprecated (see PrecisePangolin release notes
snippet below) I simply chose to delete the admin group and logged in
again. Problem solved.

I'm sure the problem would also have been solved by simply removing my
user from the admin group.

WARNING: You must be certain you understand the contents of /etc/sudoers
and your administrative user groups memberships before deleting groups
or removing users from such groups. Otherwise you could end up with a
system with no users allowed sudo privileges (and no root login I think
in Ubuntu systems).

In my case I think I created the admin group myself at some point as
there is a %admin group entry in /etc/sudoers by default which is
slightly different from the %sudo entry and I was curious about the
differences. So for me it was safe enough to just delete the admin
group. But if you have been upgrading from prior Ubuntu versions when
admin group WAS in use then as I've already warned you'll need to check
and be absolutely sure about the current state of how your sudo
privileges work.

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PrecisePangolin/ReleaseNotes/UbuntuDesktop
Common Infrastructure
Up until Ubuntu 11.10, administrator access using the sudo tool was granted via
the admin Unix group. In Ubuntu 12.04, administrator access will be granted
via the sudo group. This makes Ubuntu more consistent with the upstream
implementation and Debian. For compatibility purposes, the admin group will
continue to provide sudo/administrator access in 12.04.

I'm not sure it's exactly a bug. Well yes it is, but an extremely low priority
one. It doesn't happen with default install and it's only going to occur if
some one creates an admin group and then has users belonging to both sudo and
admin groups.

But if someone has an excess of time and is capable of fixing this (I'm
not a coder or I would) then perhaps polkit pkexec could do a simple
check for duplicate users before displaying the AdminIdentities drop-
down choice.

Anyway hopefully this helps anyone else searching for a fix after stumbling
into this minor annoyance.
G.

[Bug 1171988] Re: MAAS fails to use virsh when managing virtual nodes

2013-06-04 Thread Chris Halse Rogers
Hello Andres, or anyone else affected,

Accepted maas into raring-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/maas/1.3+bzr1461+dfsg-
0ubuntu2.1 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

[Bug 1174495] Re: Window Managers instability with r600 radeon and high monitor resolutions

2013-06-04 Thread Sylvain Falardeau
I removed my Radeon card from my desktop and used the integrated Intel
instead. I was able to use it flawlessly in 1920x1200 all the afternoon.

So even if it does not crash on me, the r600 driver does hang and make
it difficult to use with Compiz+Unity.

I will try my Radeon again when the update to Compiz will be available.

[Bug 1187613] [NEW] nova-novncproxy crashes on Debian Wheezy

2013-06-04 Thread goldyfruit
Public bug reported:

Hi,

I use the GPLHost repository for Grizzly on Debian Wheezy.
When i try to start the nova-novncproxy service it crashed with this traceback
:

Traceback (most recent call last):
File /usr/bin/nova-novncproxy, line 32, in module
from nova import flags
ImportError: cannot import name flags

I found this link : https://lists.launchpad.net/openstack/msg23774.html
The important part of the thread is that :

flags.py was removed from Grizzly, you may want to update the code
for nova dns by using “from oslo.config import cfg” instead.

Package informations :

   - Package: novnc
   - Version: 1:0.4+dfsg+1-7
   - Architecture: amd64

So i did a patch which solves the issue for me, you will find it in
attachment.

[Bug 1130746] Re: Update to nautilus 3.7.90

2013-06-04 Thread Jeremy Bicha
** Description changed:

- I've built nautilus 3.7.90 on raring and things seem to work fine. This
- required reverting 7 commits for GTK 3.6, 1 commit that needed gnome-
- disks 3.7.90 (and udisks 2.1.90), and 1 commit that needed gsettings-
- desktop-schemas. It sounds like the Desktop Team is still considering
- updating GTK to 3.8 for raring which would reduce the number of patches
- needed.
+ I've remerged our Nautilus 3.8 packaging with the latest Ubuntu
+ packaging and pushed to the attached branch. Two patches need reworking:
+
+ * 19_unity_open_location_xid.patch
+ * 16_unity_new_documents.patch: The Raring fix took advantage of a bug that
has since been fixed https://git.gnome.org/browse/nautilus/commit/?id=9323dd
+
+ And we may need Compiz to handle drawing the wallpaper first (LP:
+ #1159430)
+
+ Original bug report
+ ===
+ I've built nautilus 3.7.90 on raring and things seem to work fine. This
required reverting 7 commits for GTK 3.6, 1 commit that needed gnome-disks
3.7.90 (and udisks 2.1.90), and 1 commit that needed gsettings-desktop-schemas.
It sounds like the Desktop Team is still considering updating GTK to 3.8 for
raring which would reduce the number of patches needed.

GNOME 3.7 is now feature frozen so the risk going forward of disruptive
changes should be minimal. One additional change is that as of
yesterday, nautilus master no longer handles drawing the desktop
wallpaper but we can revert those changes for the benefit of metacity
users (Compiz/Unity currently doesn't handle drawing the wallpaper
either). One regression is that gnome-shell 3.7 changed the search
provider API so we need a patch to get nautilus 3.7 to work with the
  earlier API.

There are several improvements in the new nautilus, some of which are fairly
tricky to attempt backporting.
  - There is now optional tree navigation in the list view
  - Nautilus supports a --select commandline option to select a given URI (this
sounds like something the Unity files lens needs for its Right click Show in
Folder option)
  - Full list at http://git.gnome.org/browse/nautilus/tree/NEWS

[Bug 1187616] [NEW] udev firmware handler needs to support multiple firmware sources for Ubuntu Touch

2013-06-04 Thread Steve Langasek
Public bug reported:

Currently, udev has a hardcoded firmware search path of /lib/firmware.
This prevents it from being usable to load all firmware on ubuntu touch
images, which necessarily have separate partitions for vendor-provided
firmware vs. system-provided firmware - we can't expose both of these
sets of firmware in /lib/firmware. So to address this, udev would need
to be configured to search more than one firmware path. This appears to
be supported using a space-separated list of directories as the argument
to --with-firmware-path.

The logical directories to search in an Ubuntu Touch context would be
/lib/firmware, /system/firmware, and /vendor/firmware. If we want to
avoid the latter two as being non-standard directories, we can use bind
mounts or symlinks to the appropriate places and only search standard
directories like /lib/firmware and /usr/local/lib/firmware. But at
minimum we need one extra search path.

2013-06-04 Thread Chris Halse Rogers
Hello Maarten, or anyone else affected,

Accepted mesa into raring-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mesa/9.1.3-0ubuntu0.1
in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update

[Bug 1018105] Re: Tearing in Unity with Nvidia GTX670 (vsync failure)

2013-06-04 Thread Daniel van Vugt
This should be fully fixed per bug 901097. So fixed in Ubuntu 12.10 and
later. Preferably 13.04. The fix was a major one for Compiz so it
probably won't be backported to 12.04.

Using 13.04 you might notice some tearing on fullscreen apps. This is to be
expected as we have boosted performance for fullscreen apps by disabling Compiz
for most of them. This means it's up to the app to do it's own vsync. Or you
can force Compiz to retain control of fullscreen windows (and hence avoid
tearing) by configuring:
  CCSM Composite Unredirect Match
