Re: [Bug 1189646] Re: unowned files after purge (policy 6.8, 10.8): /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/90cloud-init-pipelining
Le Thu, Jun 20, 2013 at 08:56:13PM -, Scott Moser a écrit : I looked today at separating grub-legacy-ec2 out of cloud-init and saw your repo at http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=collab-maint/pv-grub-menu.lst.git and the ITP at #6721024. I've done a bit of work here to get it to build and to fix some lintian errors. I wonder what your plans are for that (if any). Mainly, I'd like to get that code out of cloud-init's packaging tree and somewhere else, and it seems like you were possibly doing some of that also. I'm willing to do some of the grunt work, but will need the result to work as desired on ubuntu. Thoughts? Hi Scott, sorry for taking so much time to anwer. I think that it would be great to have a grub-legacy-ec2 in a separate package, be it pv-grub-menu.lst or anything else. While drafting pv-grub-menu.lst, I wondered if most of the code is only there because it is carried over from the original update-grub scripts. Do you think that there is room or need for simplification ? One of the reasons I did not go further with pv-grub-menu.lst was that I was uncomfortable running a package where I barely understand much of what its main script seems to be capable of doing. Apart from this, unless Ubuntu has diverged on the kernel hooks, it seems to me that the package should be working fine on both Debian and Ubuntu. [Bug 1120280] Re: logrotate complains about error: mixmaster:7 unknown option 'su' -- ignoring line
This is an obvious hack and not a true patch. Instead su should behave as expected and be exactly like the Debian version. In my opinion, we should not divert from Debian on commands and scripts unless it is necessary. This can generally be applied to inherent differences in directory structure, interface changes, and security issues. Why reinvent the wheel? I simply commented out the offending line and added the comment, Works in Debian, but not Ubuntu. Then I duplicated the line, replacing mixmaster with root. I am not a programmer. [Bug 1201078] [NEW] Sync pyopencl 2013.1~git20130613-1 (multiverse) from Debian unstable (contrib)
Public bug reported: Please sync pyopencl 2013.1~git20130613-1 (multiverse) from Debian unstable (contrib) Explanation of the Ubuntu delta and why it can be dropped: * No change rebuild for Boost 1.53 transition. * Installing fglrx breaks 3D acceleration on sandy-bridge (my work machine). Therefore I am dropping fglrx | nvidia-current from Depends fields. If you have opencl capable hardware and properly setup, then you can enjoy this package. * Rebuild to drop python3.2 extension. * Remove depends on opencl-icd, keep/add suggests fglrx | nvidia-current to make the python modules installable. * Rebuild against python3.3. * Skip sphinx documentation in binary-arch build. Fixes FTBFS. nvidia-graphics-drivers now provide libopencl1 virtual package (LP: #1129409). sphinx documentation FTBFS fixed in Debian #711926. Changelog entries since current saucy version 2012.1-1ubuntu5: pyopencl (2013.1~git20130613-1) unstable; urgency=low * New upstream release. * Add *-dbg packages. * Remove *-headers package; upstream now ships headers in python directory. * Upstream switched to setuptools, update patches to deal with it. * Do not call dh_sphinxdoc for architecture dependent builds, build documentation in separate step in debian/rules (Closes: #711926) * Add README.source describing get-orig-source in debian/rules. * Disable package optimisation option as it might clash with hardening compile options. * Include tests (all files in test/) in documentation package. * Fix VCS-* fields to contain canonical URIs. * Update Standards-Version to 3.9.4; no changes necessary. -- Tomasz Rybak tomasz.ry...@post.pl Mon, 17 Jun 2013 22:30:57 +0200 ** Affects: pyopencl (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1201078 Title: Sync pyopencl 2013.1~git20130613-1 (multiverse) from Debian unstable (contrib) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pyopencl/+bug/1201078/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 930447] Re: Unable to start Ubuntu 12.04 live CD with syslinux loader on Pentium M x86 Laptop due to bug in PAE kernel, initramfs or syslinux
As Chris said, it is a purely political. The changes are trivial. Syslinux would need to remove the PAE check, or ideally, add the exclusion of the Pentium-M. Syslinux can be bypassed by using grub and chainloading the iso (described in a few comments above) bypasses the boot issue. As for kernel upgrades, yes, fake-pae solves that part. They are both hacks, but work quite well, but the same 'fix' would apply there aswell. If PAE !Pentium-M (); Anyay, even if you have these patches, you'd have to convince the Ubuntu council as they said 'no pae' and forgot about Pentium-M (PAE is from the pentium-pro area, so understandable to ignore CPU's before Pentium Pro. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/930447 Title: Unable to start Ubuntu 12.04 live CD with syslinux loader on Pentium M x86 Laptop due to bug in PAE kernel, initramfs or syslinux To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/930447/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1125302] Re: [camera-app] taking picture with the face cam quickly after switching the camera causes upside down image to be displayed with edge corruption
I got a very similar issue with the mediaplayer app on my maguro. [Bug 1201091] [NEW] UNetbootin fails to create bootable LiveUSB for 13.04 ISOs
Public bug reported: I have asked this: https://answers.launchpad.net/unetbootin/+question/227885 It got expired. No matter what ISO I use (Ubuntu, Xubuntu, Lubuntu, Ubuntu-GNOME, etc), UNetbootin fails to create a bootable LiveUSB for 13.04 ISO Ubuntu Based Systems. I have tried: Ubuntu 13.04 Xubuntu 13.04 Lubuntu 13.04 Ubuntu-GNOME 13.04 Same goes for 32bit and 64bit (does not matter which version, both will fail). UNetbootin is a very handy and useful tool and with this issue, it is harder for new comers to create LiveUSB. For me, I do the 'dd' approach but 'dd' might be less friendly for new users :) By the way, same goes for Saucy ISOs. I am a tester for many Ubuntu Flavors and I can't create LiveUSB using UNetbootin. Thank you! P.S. Same goes for Windows Version of UNetbootin so it is not only with the Linux Version. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1201091 Title: UNetbootin fails to create bootable LiveUSB for 13.04 ISOs To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1201091/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1201091] Re: UNetbootin fails to create bootable LiveUSB for 13.04 ISOs
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1201091/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package. [Bug 1201101] [NEW] grub-efi is a must for a functional LiveCD experience
Public bug reported: I had to submit this report on a different machine because the machine affected is not currently connected to the net. The current (saucy, as of July 13, 2013) Lubuntu LiveCD boots and gives the user the *impression* that it works on UEFI machines. Then, when the user is satisfied with the experience and decides to install, it fails with a cryptic message that the 'grub-efi' package failed to install into /target/. The user in question (the writer of this report), makes an attempt to approach the problem as rationally as he can, examining how the SSD is partitioned, trying to find out if there is some non-standard hardware (SONY!) or software (Microsoft) deviation from the standard UEFI specifications, does a whole lot of things, only to find out, after a lot of wasted hours, that all he needed to solve the bug was a diff between http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/lubuntu/daily-live/current/saucy-desktop- amd64.list http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/lubuntu/daily/current/saucy-alternate- amd64.list On July 13, 2013 grub-efi was listed in the alternate CD but not in the desktop CD. Unfortunately, because the hardware is very new (Haswell ULV based SONY Vaio Pro 13), the network ( Intel 802.11ac 7260 wireless card) does not work, so the package can't be downloaded during install. There is a whole breed of machines hitting the market with this kind of set up. I love Lubuntu. Why should I waste my machine's resources on fancier eye-candy? All I need is lightweight productivity and Lubuntu is my desktop of choice on the lightest and most energy efficient hardware tht I can find. [Bug 366780] Re: Please provide a mechanism whereby Wi-Fi networks can be prioritized
As far as i know OSX has a list where you can drag-n-drop networks. The closer to the top, the higer the priority. [Bug 1045353] Re: LibreOffice commands are not displayed in the HUD
Your argument seems plausible. However, in my case and several others the HUD and libreoffice actually do communicate. But only in a fresh instance of libreoffice in which no document has been opened or created. Let me explain with an example: I launch libreoffice writer from the launcher, wait serveral seconds, bring up the HUD and start typing. For example recent thesis to open my file thesis.odt which is listed in Recent Documents in the File menu. The HUD shows all options in the libreoffice menus as would be expected, no bug noticed so far. However, once the file is opened the HUD does not work anymore. Therefore I assume that (even though I agree the ubuntu HUD isn't very stable) this particular bug is in LibreOffice. After all, it is a change in libreoffice that makes the HUD not work properly. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1045353 Title: LibreOffice commands are not displayed in the HUD To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/hud/+bug/1045353/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
