[Bug 833952]

2013-07-17 Thread 8mabmzqcnyc1g4i-mcmthlf-clubl5mz6ldresg
I can't believe no one could fix this problem in 5 (!) years, from
Firefox 5 through 22 (= 17 major versions).

http://apple.com

-> images.apple.com cookie dialog hangs forever. re-starting FF does
_not_ help.

In other words, not possible to see Apple website in Firefox with custom
cookie permissions.

[Bug 1178907] Re: Searching a program freezes when Empathy is online with a Facebook account

2013-07-17 Thread aaron skarlupka
I am running Ubuntu 13.04 with the Gnome 3 shell. I encounter the same
issue. Gateway NV50A16u laptop. AMD Phenom II X2 N660 processor. ATI
Mobility Radeon HD41520 Graphics. If I disable empathy I have no issues
running Ubuntu 13.04 with Gnome. Facebook is the only account linked to
Gnome. Problem exits in that the activity search, searches Facebook
contacts and seems to be the cause of the system lag in my opinion.
Creating a way to disable searching Facebook contacts from activity
search while leaving empathy active might fix this behavior.

Thanks Christopher! I fixed this a bit differently, but keep the spirit
of this in trunk: http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~apport-

For the Ubuntu branch we can indeed be more specific and show the
package name / a clearer error message for Python 3:

[Bug 1202502] [NEW] cannot connect when password has odd number of characters

2013-07-17 Thread cc young
Public bug reported:

in wireless, cannot connect when password has odd number of characters.
consistent across many hot spots.

gaining access to a hot spot, here is the router setup:

d-link DSL-2750U (used throughout Vientiane)

WPA Mode: WPA Only
WPA passphrase: oddnumberofcharacters (>=9)
WPA Group Rekey Interval: 0
WPA/WAPI Encryption: TKIP+AES

if the password is changed to have an even number of characters,
connection works as expected

This is not a valid usage, BTW. You cannot simultaneously report a bug
(with -c) and update it (with -u). I'll make sure that this gives a
proper error message. You should use "apport-collect 1071059" for
updating, and "ubuntu-bug -c libreoffice.apport" for reporting.

2013-07-17 Thread Martin Pitt
Muhammad Bashir Al-Noimi [2013-07-17 21:57 -]:
> May I know the reason of insisting not to add Pg 9.2?

Updating to a newer version is always a huge mission, as there are a
lot of packaged extensions which need to be ported and updated along.
Also, if the next major version comes out, we then need to remove all
reverse dependencies to the previous versions, i. e. port them all
again. So we try to avoid introducing e. g. 9.2 into Debian unstable
now precisely so that people do *not* start depending on 9.2, as 9.3
is already around the corner (beta2 right now).

We have more flexibility on apt.postgresql.org as that doesn't need to
guarantee that everything is supported throughout the full lifetime of
the corresponding Debian/Ubuntu release.

[Bug 1071905] Re: ERROR: The launchpadlib Python module is not installed.

2013-07-17 Thread Martin Pitt
It's rather that our Python maintainers/foundations team don't want
python2 dependencies on the default install. As we install apport by
default, it can only depend on python3 stuff, so Barry asked me to make
the python2 bits optional. And indeed launchpadlib is not needed for
most apport operations (its main purpose is to file bugs), only if you
invoke it as apport-collect. So the default install with python3 is
still mostly fine.

[Bug 1202054] Re: PostgreSQL Being Listed on Login Screen

2013-07-17 Thread The Minder
@ Martin

I don't recall creating the "PostgreSQL" user... just installing the
software. The software that creates and uses the PostgreSQL database
creates it's own user.

Interestingly, if I go into Ubuntu's Users & Groups, the user
'PostgreSQL' is shown as disabled. The application PostgresSQL is
right now happily running and managing my database.

> postgres:x:1001:1001:PostgreSQL:/etc/PostgreSQL/9.0:/bin/sh

You created this yourself, didn't you? postgresql-common creates that
user as a system user (uid < 500), but this is a "normal" (human) user.
For system wide services you should rather do something like "sudo
adduser --system postgres".

[Bug 1189661] Re: "delay: estimated N, actual N" warning logged by kernel

2013-07-17 Thread Tom Metro
> Have you tried a different USB port(s)?

Yes. I plugged the USB sound adapter into a different port and the
logged warnings persisted.

The laptop has 1 through 8 USB buses listed by lsusb, but only 3
external ports.

Currently (and originally) attached as:

Bus 005 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 005 Device 002: ID 0d8c:000c C-Media Electronics, Inc. Audio Adapter

I temporarily tried it on:

Bus 006 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub

which has two ports. I didn't bother trying it on both ports of that
hub.

Here's the full device list (probably redundant with one of the
attachments above):

[Bug 1202054] Re: PostgreSQL Being Listed on Login Screen

2013-07-17 Thread The Minder
PostgreSQL v9.0 was downloaded from http://www.postgresql.org/ into the
original 13.04 disto in my sda5. This was then DD cloned into my sda6
and dist-upgrade to 13.10. PostgreSQL is needed on my system as I run
a Postgres database. It also has to be v9.0 as there are serious
limitations to later versions. So, PostgreSQL is 'legitimate' on my
system but has only started showing up as a 'user' since the upgrade to
Saucy.

Sorry for the time delay, I'm UTC + 8.

[Bug 510625] Re: Bad parsing of GnuPG output, expecting english output, which doesn't work if locales different than english.

2013-07-17 Thread az
hmmm. gpg does report its status and needs nicely on the status fd, and in a
fixed format (NEED_PASSPHRASE...)
so it looks like the gpg.py module needs to perform a bit more status_fd
handling and reporting. right now it only extracts signature key ids.

[Bug 1201674] Re: [Hewlett-Packard 520-1138cb] suspend/resume failure [non-free: wl]

2013-07-17 Thread Ken
I was using 12.04.2 on another partition and was having the same suspend
resume problems thats why I tried 13.04 then 13.10. After installing
13.10 grub does not show 12.04 any longer but I can see and access files
from 13.10.

[Bug 1083994] Re: [Feature] Haswell ULT - Near Field Communication(NFC) support

2013-07-17 Thread Leann Ogasawara
Just adding a note that even though we have the above patches from
comments #21 and #22 already included in our Saucy kernel, apparently
Intel notes we'll need some additional patches as well. Just putting a
note here to keep the Saucy task open till we have those patches
applied. Intel will post a note here for which additional patches are
needed.

[Bug 1202440] [NEW] support hooks directly in preseed file

2013-07-17 Thread Jeremy Kitchen
Public bug reported:

It would be great to be able to define hooks directly in the preseed
file:

d-i hook/post-base-installer/0 string "in-target adduser foo"

Something like that.

The use case I have for this is such:
I'm building a preseed file to bootstrap a system up to installing puppet and
running it. The problem is, I need my puppet uid/gid to be consistent every
time. For other users, I just add them to my puppet configuration so when
puppet runs the user is created with the appropriate uid, but in order to do
that I need to install puppet which will install its own user (with its own,
possibly inconsistent) uid.

Therefore I need to create the user/group prior to installing puppet.
When I asked about doing this on #ubuntu-installer, the response I got
from cjwatson (thanks, by the way!) was to use preseed/early_install to
add a hook to /usr/lib/post-base-installer.d/ to call "in-target adduser
foo". Since there can only be one early_install, having to add this to a
potentially long and complex chain of commands could get pretty hairy,
so being able to do:

d-i hook/post-base-installer/00_add_foo_user string "in-target adduser
foo"

Would be much much cleaner and also allow for defining multiple hooks,
so if you're generating your preseed file with a script it should make
it easier to manage multiple parts of your script adding their own
hooks.

I'm a pretty new user of preseed, so I can't come up with more use
cases, but I can't imagine it would be that hard to add this
functionality, and I think it could be incredibly useful.

2013-07-17 Thread Bob Murray
I don't think this is a Kubuntu problem, I think it is a Google Chromium
problem.

[Bug 1202433] [NEW] Unity Web Apps Plugin is very annoying, won't install, keeps pestering the crap out of me

2013-07-17 Thread Bob Murray
Public bug reported:

I am running Kubuntu 13.04 on an HP Pavillion Elite HPE 240f with a 64
bit AMD64 processor. It is a dual boot configuration with Windows 8.1
Preview. I use Google's Chromium as my default browser in Linux. On
virtually every page I go to, I get a notification to instaLL UNITY
WEBAPPS PLUGIN. If I click "install plug-in" it downloads a file into
my "home/downloads/" directory. I get a box asking me to Discard or
Keep. No matter what I select, nothing happens. I have dozens of
copies of this crap now. If I select Problems Installing? from the
notification bar, it takes me to a web page of crap I can't use. I have
closed out and restarted Chromium dozens of times and nothing helps. I
continue to be pestered by this notification bar. I need to get your
crap either installed or killed. I don't care which. This failure to
install error is driving me CRAZY.

** Affects: unity-chromium-extension (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New
