[Bug 1210649] Re: /usr/lib/ubuntu-release-upgrader/check-new-release-gtk:TypeError:on_button_upgrade_now_clicked:run:error:error:__init__:__init__:function

2013-08-22 Thread Brian Murray
** Description changed:

The Ubuntu Error Tracker has been receiving reports about a problem
regarding ubuntu-release-upgrader. This problem was most recently seen
with version 1:0.190.7, the problem page at
  https://errors.ubuntu.com/problem/95e23eef1d67b997e47197c477a3149fa3b97b7b
  contains more details.

  Impact:
Users of Ubuntu 12.10 (and 13.04) are unable to upgrade to Ubuntu 13.04 (or
13.10) unless they manually install libgksu2-0 (or a package that depends on
it).

  Test Case:
  1) Install Ubuntu 12.10 (or 13.04)
  2) Run /usr/lib/ubuntu-release-upgrader/check-new-release-gtk (with -d for
13.04)
  3) Click upgrade now
  4) Observe a crash

With the version of ubuntu-release-upgrader from -proposed it will not
  crash

  Regression Potential:
None as we are just readding a removed dependency for ubuntu-release-upgrader.
+
+ Development Fix:
+ The plan to fix this in the development release is to move to policykit
instead of using gksu.

2013-08-22 Thread Simon Steinbeiß
It took me a while to test that, but on my Samsung Series 5 the
installation of the newest firmware (simply extract
http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Drivers/iwlwifi?action=AttachFile&do=get&target
=iwlwifi-6000g2b-ucode-18.168.6.1.tgz to /lib/firmware) solved the
problem entirely. Phew.

[Bug 1215590] Re: BIOS update 219 (from 215) for Asus UX31A led to battery % error

2013-08-22 Thread Christopher Barton
Sigh ... it seems that the issue remains even when booting up using the
previous kernel version.

Problem is that if I approach Asus about this, then they will simply
reply with "sorry, we don't support linux, ...Asus recommends Windows
8". :-( Like hell I'll use Windows 8!

I updated the BIOS in an effort to resolve a different bug but then
landed with this problem.

So what to do now? Is there really nothing you can do on this matter?

Public bug reported:

These packages were hastily produced for the phablet demo quite some
time ago and are no longer maintained or functional. They have been
added to the Breaks: field in lp:webapps-applications so that they
become uninstalled from users' systems as they upgrade, but they also
need to be removed from the archive.

[Bug 1215617] [NEW] Should not stop if there are active clients

2013-08-22 Thread Dmitrijs Ledkovs
Public bug reported:

So there have been a couple of libvirt upgrades.

I start dist-upgrade, while working in a VM.

Suddently virtual-manager disconnects and thows me out of the VM, because
libvirt-bin has stopped the service in preinstall.
Then I had to wait for a long time (all other packages install), until
postinstall did finally run and start libvirt-bin again.

Ideally, you'd not stop libvirt whilst there are connections open to the
libvirt client.
And possibly to reduce down time, can libvirt-bin stop & start during
postinstall to minimise down time?

[Bug 1174112] Re: qtcreator slow start

2013-08-22 Thread Kevin Cole
For me, starting Ubuntu SDK from Unity, it takes several minutes to open
a window, it cannot find a valid kit, and claims that qmake isn't an
executable (and also that the version is invalid). Running qtcreator
from the command line gives the attached console log (also with the same
results as listed).

However, running from KDE, it opens right up, finds everything it needs,
etc.

Thank you all!

That kernel version of Luis Henriques also solves the "black screen of

any other) always when rebooting.

[Bug 912702] Re: [MASTER] Endlessly many "Wireless Network Authentication Required" dialogs put up

2013-08-22 Thread launchpadder
i'm seeing this in raring too (dual boot lenovo q190 with kernel 3.10 -

i tried to replace nm-applet with wicd without success (managed to
screw up all networking by apt-get purging network-manager; restored it;
removed wicd; am back to nm-applet).

can't find a workaround/solution anywhere. can't believe there hasn't

[Bug 1212720] Re: 1286:2044 Microsoft Surface Pro Wifi display 3 times unable to login

2013-08-22 Thread Joseph Salisbury
I don't see the patch in the v3.11-rc6 kernel, so it is not in mainline
yet. You can either patch the 3.11-rc6 kernel, or I can do it for you
and built a test kernel?

Does this issue go away if you boot into a previous kernel? If not,
this is probably a BIOS bug, which would need to be addressed by the
hardware manufacturer.

You can reproduce it by hibernating and resuming.

[Bug 1213879] Re: kernel fault ovs 1.10.1 + linux 3.11

2013-08-22 Thread Joseph Salisbury
@James Page, Did this bug just start happening after a new kernel
update? Was there a prior kernel that did not get this fault? If so,
we can perform a bisect to identify the commit that introduced the
regression.

Also, the 3.11.0-3.7 kernel is now available, which is rebased to
upstream v3.11-rc6. Can you test this latest kernel to confirm it still
exhibits this bug?

[Bug 1215590] [NEW] BIOS update 219 (from 215) for Asus UX31A led to battery % error

2013-08-22 Thread Christopher Barton
Public bug reported:

Following a BIOS update from 215 to 219 for my Asus UX31A, battery % now
reports as being on 84% when it should read 100% (as it does in Windows
8). This value will remain permanently on 84% and will never reach 100%
when plugged into the mains. The little light on the power cable lights
up as green colour suggesting battery is at fully charged, thus
confirming there is some kind of miscommunication between my hardware
and xubuntu/kernel. This could be an Asus BIOS fault rather than a bug.
Either way, I'd appreciate a fix.

Prior to this BIOS update, my battery reached 100%.

I'm using XUBUNTU 13.04 (upgraded from 12.10)

(An additional issue is that the fan also seems a little more active
than it was before the update, but this may perhaps need to be put into
a seperate bug report.)

** Description changed:

Following a BIOS update from 215 to 219 for my Asus UX31A, battery % now
reports as being on 84% when it should read 100% (as it does in Windows
- 8). This value will remain permantently on 84% and will never reach 100%

[Bug 1213795] Re: newer kernels (3.10+) don't boot on MacBook Air 6.1

2013-08-22 Thread Joseph Salisbury
Can you also see if the latest Raring kernel also requires both
nosmp, libata.force=noncq, or just nosmp. It can be downloaded from:

http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.8.13.7-raring/

We may want to re-focus this bug on the 3.11-rc6 kernel not being able
to boot without nosmp and open a new bug for Raring if it still requires
nosmp and libata.force=noncq

[Bug 1176425] Re: Shrinking workarea on secondary screen without keyboard

2013-08-22 Thread marmuta
Struts weren't set up correctly at some point, this I believe has since been
fixed. Onboard 0.99.0 in my tests only shrinks the work area of the primary
monitor.
I'll close this bug for now. Marius, please reopen it, if you still see this
happening in 0.99.0.

[Bug 1214638] Re: [Asus UX31A] Linux 3.8.0-27 & Linux 3.8.0-29 render system unbootable with "black screen of death"

2013-08-22 Thread Christopher Barton
Hmmm

Today I tried booting up again and it went back to the "black screen of
death" with nothing more than a blinking cursor in the top left corner.
I shut down, and booted it up again and it got the login screen. The
behaviour seems random.

So, to conclude, it seems that the problem is not yet solved, despite
the BIOS update. Shame.

P.S. (FYI - I have now got a new problem though -- my battery reports it
to be at 84%, but in windows this is 100%. So there appears to be some
miscommunication between my hardware and xubuntu/kernel. Fan also seems
a little more active than it was..sigh - something for a
seperate new bug reportso much for a BIOS "update").

Regards
Christopher

[Bug 1211447] Re: MAAS default timezone is not UTC

2013-08-22 Thread Brian Murray
Hello Andres, or anyone else affected,

Accepted maas into raring-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/maas/1.3+bzr1461+dfsg-
0ubuntu2.2 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!
