FWIW, I've just changed mountall to use the default 'console log'
instead of 'console output' in the upload of 2.50 to Debian unstable
(which should be syncable to saucy soon), but didn't catch this bug in
the changelog - so closing it manually.

It's supposed that my system should be booted under UEFI, how can I fix
this?

I was trying to install grub-efi-amd64-signed because when the problem
appeared, it said that it may solve the problem.

[Bug 1223195] [NEW] efivarfs built as a module in saucy, so not mounted at boot

2013-09-09 Thread Steve Langasek
Public bug reported:

The efivarfs driver in the saucy amd64 kernel is built as a module
instead of being built in. As a consequence, when mountall checks
/proc/filesystems to see what optional filesystems are supported, it
doesn't find efivarfs there and efivarfs is never mounted at boot. This
in turn means that secureboot-db will not be able to apply secureboot
database updates to firmware, potentially leaving systems vulnerable to
boot exploits.

This used to all work in raring and earlier, where efivarfs was built
into the kernel (which was the only option). Please fix the config to
make efivarfs built-in again (CONFIG_EFIVARFS=y).

For reference, please note that any kernel filesystem that mountall has
flagged as "optional" in /lib/init/fstab must be a built-in driver in
order to get the correct results. In addition to efivarfs, this
includes debugfs, securityfs, spufs, binfmt_misc, and fusectl.

[Bug 1223168] Re: package shim-signed 1.3+0.4-0ubuntu3 failed to install/upgrade: el subproceso instalado el script post-installation devolvió el código de salida de error 1

2013-09-09 Thread Steve Langasek
Thanks. The crucial section of the log is here:

+ uname -m
+ modprobe -q efivars
+ [ -d /sys/firmware/efi ]
+ target=i386-pc
+ source_dir=/usr/lib/grub/i386-pc
+ [ -d /usr/lib/grub/i386-pc ]

The fact that /sys/firmware/efi does not exist means that your system is
not booted under UEFI. That appears to be consistent with the original
dpkg log, which says that none of these packages were previously
installed. Why are you trying to install grub-efi-amd64-signed? This
does not appear to be the correct bootloader for your system.

[Bug 1223181] Re: After upgrading to saucy, eclipse crashes in gtk_tree_view_get_background_area+0x8a while debugging

2013-09-09 Thread JR
I forgot to mention that I'm using qtcurve as I had other crashes when
using the gtk oxygen theme.

it seems this issue can be worked around by adding
gtk-enable-animations=0

to $HOME/.grkrc-2.0

[Bug 1181807] Re: Firefox refuses to load, cannot find profile

2013-09-09 Thread Travis Bean
The problem I had with Firefox not loading in "enforce mode" is that my
user's home path is set to /ubuntu-admin rather than /home/ubuntu-admin.
I fixed this problem as follows:

sed -i "s|@{HOME}=@{HOMEDIRS}/\*/ /root/|@{HOME}=@{HOMEDIRS}/\*/ /root/
/\*/|" /etc/apparmor.d/tunables/home

months, and nothing has changed that I'm aware of.

[Bug 971750] Re: [Toshiba L735-101] screen brightness cannot be set

2013-09-09 Thread Swâmi Petaramesh
This bug is 1 year and a half old, and it's extremely clear to me that
nobody has been addressing this except for "administrative processing".

Administrative processing that typically puts all the burden on the bug
reporter, asking him every 6 months to "test the latest dev kernel"
while nobody else is doing nothing. Business as usual.

I'm not going to test dev kernels for years while nobody else does
nothing for every bug I report.

I'm going to cease reporting Ubuntu bugs, and quit using Ubuntu as well
- which is already partially done, as more than half of my machines have
already migrated to other, non-Ubuntu based, distros.

Bye.

[Bug 1223152] Re: Kernel 3.2.0-53 gnome-classic/gnome-panel to load slowly, laptop fn keys not working

2013-09-09 Thread A. D. Nieman
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected

** Description changed:

I have an ASUS X201E notebook running a manufacturer install of Precise.
I know gnome-panel and the fn keys worked in 3.2.0-52, and have reverted
back to that kernel. Up to this point, everything worked very nicely,
and as of the kernel switch, things started breaking. At GNOME3 launch,
gnome-panel went from loading within 5 seconds to taking more than 20
seconds. Notebook Fn keys failed to operate. As I have said, reversion
to kernel 3.2.0-52 has solved those issues.
