[Bug 1248245] [NEW] calendar indicator always opens with wrong date

2013-11-05 Thread wastrel
Public bug reported:

The unity calendar indicator invariably opens with a day highlighted
that is not today, always in the past, sometimes in the wrong month.

I'd expect when i click the time to see the calendar to be looking at
the current month and have the current day highlighted.

Like cal on the command line.

[Bug 1248249] [NEW] regression: local admin not authorized for many tasks

2013-11-05 Thread Jamin W. Collins
Public bug reported:

Similar reports to this were filed previously:
#1005643 #1069234

While 1069234 was marked as a duplicate of 1005643, and 1005643 was
marked as resolved, this problem still exists with 13.10.

When attempting to mount any of my local volumes through a graphical
file manager (such as Thunar or Nautilus), I'm greeted with a dialog
like the following:

Failed to mount keys.
Not authorized to perform operation.

When attempting to mount them from a command line I get the following:
$ udisksctl mount -b /dev/mmcblk0p1
 AUTHENTICATING FOR org.freedesktop.udisks2.filesystem-mount ===
Authentication is required to mount MS (/dev/mmcblk0p1)
Multiple identities can be used for authentication:
 1. Jamin Collins,,, (jcollins)
 2. Jamin Collins,,, (jcollins)
Choose identity to authenticate as (1-2):

This is presumably because my user is in both the admin and sudo groups.
If I remove the user from the sudo group the prompt changes:

$ sudo deluser jcollins sudo
[sudo] password for jcollins:
Removing user `jcollins' from group `sudo' ...
Done.
$ udisksctl mount -b /dev/mmcblk0p1
 AUTHENTICATING FOR org.freedesktop.udisks2.filesystem-mount ===
Authentication is required to mount MS (/dev/mmcblk0p1)
Authenticating as: Jamin Collins,,, (jcollins)
Password:

So, there are a couple of problems here. First is the fact that a local
admin is being prompted for authentication to mount local or removable
file systems. Second, that the authentication system can't determine
that accounts are, in fact, identical.

[Bug 685096] Re: USB Passthrough not working for Windows 7 guest

2013-11-05 Thread Jens Frederich
Hi Serge,

for your information. I sent a mail to the devel mailing list. See
below.

I've tried to passthrough special Vector automotive usb in house devices.
Look here: http://vector.com/vi_vn1600_en.html.

What do you mean with what commands you've tried?

I've tried three QEMU versions:

1. Ubuntu 13.04 64-bit prebuild qemu-kvm package (qemu 1.4.0)
2. Ubuntu 13.10 64-bit prebuild qemu-kvm package (qemu 1.5.0)
3. Hand builded QEMU 1.6.1 with standard configure call
$ ./configure --prefix=/opt/kvm  make -j

Next, I want to build qemu from git?

I use virt-manager or virsh to start/stop my guest. The QEMU command
line is:

qemu-system-x86_64 -machine accel=kvm:tcg -name VRTP1_win -S -M pc-
i440fx-1.4 -cpu SandyBridge -m 3072 -smp 2,sockets=1,cores=2,threads=1

Mail to devel list:

Hi all,

we're currently evaluating different RTOS systems (Windows CE, Intime, RTX,
etc.).
One system is Linux RT + KVM/QEMU with a Windows 7 guest. Up to now all
works fine, Linux RT has good latency and KVM/Qemu setup was easy. But one QEMU
bug
breaks my measurement setup and evaluation.

I've some usb devices for the Windows 7 guest. I configure them as USB
passthrough.
The devices appears in the device manager of Windows 7, but with
Error code 10: device cannot start. The Windows driver fails on USB set
configuration.
The driver creates a IRP and send it via IOCTRL to lower layer. The IOCTRL
fails with
invalid parameter.

driver log:
0009 0.65470564 vnCDrvUsbControlRequestSetConfiguration,
WdfUsbTargetDeviceSelectConfig single interface failed 0xc00d
0010 0.65472370 vnCDrvUsbIFPrepareHardwareState,
vnCDrvUsbControlRequestSetConfiguration failed: 0xc00d
0011 0.65473646 vnCDrvDevConPrepareHardware,
vnCDrvUsbIFPrepareHardwareState failed 0xc00d
0012 0.65474838 vnCDrvEvtDevicePrepareHardware,
vnCDrvDevConPrepareHardware failed 0xc001
0013 0.6547

This bug breaks my latency measurement setup and Linux RT is out of the
evaluationg
race. Windows CE should not win :-), it there anyway workaround or hack to fix
the issue?

My setup:

Ubuntu 64-bit
Windows 7 Embedded Guest
Linux Kernel: 3.10.10-rt7
QEMU: 1.4.0, 1.6.1

thanks,
Jens

[Bug 1219908] Re: [needs-packaging] All nvidia-current and nvidia-updates need repackaging to mirror official Nvidia releases...

2013-11-05 Thread AG Restringere
Thank you for releasing this fix, it's appreciated.

Recently I upgraded to 13.10 from 13.04 on my home machine a Dell Vostro
with a 'GeForce 8600M GT/PCIe/SSE2' and so far with the 319.60
'nvidia-319-updates' drivers I've had the best graphics and Unity/Compiz
performance and stability I've ever had using Ubuntu, it's very crisp.
I will have to test this further and see what happens when I put the
13.10 system under more diverse OpenGL and graphics use case scenarios.

For the 12.04 LTS I will have to install some test environments for the
'nvidia-319-updates' and 'nvidia-304-updates' release on Precise and do
some testing so I can relay my experiences and results.

[Bug 1153106] Re: AMILO Pro V2030 fan control only working after suspend

2013-11-05 Thread Rüdiger Kupper
Christopher,

thank you very much! I'd really like to test the BIOS upgrade! However,
silly as it sounds, the AMILO Pro laptop in question completely broke
down three days ago. It will not power on any more. (It is not the
battery, it does not power on with battery removed, either. Probably a
hardware failure in the mainboard's power supply. I know of other AMILOs
that suffered this failure.)

When I have the time I will see if I can fix the power supply. If I manage, I
will certainly come to you. Until then, we're out of luck :-(.
However, since I seem to have been the only one with interest in this problem
(no one else subscribed to this bug), there may be no need to further pursue
the issue.

I'm a little sad that a machine that served me well for 10 years or more
has simply broken. I appreciate your help very much! But unless I manage
to fix my AMILO, this ticket may be closed.

My regards,
Rüdiger

Re: [Openshot.developers] [Bug 1247522] [NEW] Ubuntu 13.10, after upgrade Openshot exits suddenly on Export to Youtube HD

2013-11-05 Thread teledyn
updates to the libav packages were released today and appear to have solved
the problems, I am now able to export video in both YoutubeHD and FlickrHD

I also uninstalled the Lightwave NLE and that may have been a potential
conflict as well.

2013-11-05 Thread Paddy Landau
@brian-murray: For 12.04, unless this bug causes failures for people, I
wonder if the fix is worth the potential risk in an LTS, especially as
the next LTS, 14.04, is only 6-7 months away.

However, if you do release the code for testing, I shall be happy to
test it.

[Bug 1248244] [NEW] Build package with --enable-selinux

Public bug reported:

Upstart should be built with --enable-selinux, as we do with the rest of
the system (apt-cache rdepends libselinux1) - this is so if there are
people who want to use SELinux instead of AppArmor, they actually have
an /sbin/init that works.

[Bug 1245007] Re: nvidia-319 319.32-0ubuntu7: nvidia-319 kernel module fails to build on kernel 3.12.x [error: ‘drm_fasync’ undeclared here]

2013-11-05 Thread Daniel Letzeisen
You're welcome. Kernel 3.12 support has been added in Trusty/14.04:

nvidia-graphics-drivers-319 (319.60-0ubuntu1) trusty; urgency=low

  * New upstream release:
- Added support for the following GPU:
o GeForce GTX 760 Ti OEM
- Fixed a bug that could cause OpenGL applications to
crash during the initialization of new threads.
- Fixed a bug that caused the GPU and Memory clock
frequencies for some PowerMizer performance levels
on Kepler boards to be reported incorrectly in the
  nvidia-settings control panel.
- Fixed a bug that caused the X server to fail to
start on certain laptops when the boot display was
on an external DisplayPort monitor, for example if
the laptop was booted while the lid was closed.
- Fixed a bug in nvidia-installer that caused the
32-bit libGL.la libtool library file to be
  installed to the wrong location.
- Updated the NVIDIA OpenGL driver to write temporary
files to $TMPDIR if it is set, instead of
unconditionally writing to /tmp (LP: #1212425).
- Updated a fallback of writing temporary files to
$HOME/.nvidia to use $HOME/.nv instead, as the
latter path is already used for other NVIDIA driver
  related files.
  * Add buildfix_kernel_3.12.patch:
- Add support for Linux 3.12
  *  Refresh buildfix_kernel_3.11.patch.

[Bug 1248253] [NEW] [3.11.1 regression] wrong color depth when saving images

2013-11-05 Thread Martin Pitt
Public bug reported:

Today I scanned an image whose saved JPG result was totally ugly, with
just 16 colors or so. This didn't happen last week yet (and I dist-
upgrade trusty daily). Hence I suppose this is a regression in

simple-scan (3.11.1-0ubuntu1) trusty; urgency=low

  * New upstream release:
- Fix page size not being applied on some drivers
- Rewrite autosaving. Now uses files for scan data, is more efficient in
writing to disk and drops dependency on sqlite.
  * debian/control:
- Drop build-depends on libsqlite3-dev

The preview looks alright, but the saved image (attached) looks like
Tetris.

This is with a Canon CanoScan LiDE 60 (but that shouldn't matter as the

none of my other mono apps will work.

[Bug 1248000] Re: [MIR] new package - joyent-mdata-client

2013-11-05 Thread Ben Howard
** Summary changed:

- Need joyent-mdata-get packaged
+ [MIR] new package - joyent-mdata-client

** Description changed:

- We need the joyent-mdata-get package for Ubuntu and Debian
+ [Background information]: Joyent is an IaaS vendor offering compute
+ instances and object storage. Joyent is the sponsor of the SmartOS
+ project and uses SmartOS for their compute offering. Each compute
+ instance uses a serial console for a meta-data service. The joyent-
+ mdata-client tools are required to enable two-way communication with the
+ meta-data service.

+ [Availability]: This is a new package for cloud enablement. In order for
+ a package to be included on the official cloud images, it must be in
+ Main, as Universe is disallowed by policy.
+
+ [Rationale]: This package enables two-way communication with the meta-
+ data service on Joyent/SmartOS instances.
+
+ [Security]: The source package was introduced early Octoboer 2013.
+
+ [Quality assurance]: No obvious issues with the MIR requirements
+
+ [UI standard]: Not applicable
+
+ [Dependencies]: All dependencies are already in main.
+
+ [Standards compliance]: No issues identified
+
+ [Maintenance]: This package will be jointly maintained by the Ubuntu
+ Server EcoSystems team in conjunction with Joyent through a business
+ relationship.
+
+ [Source Location]: Currently working on landing this package into
+ Debian. (http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=728749)

[Bug 1223055] Re: System Hangs With Kernel Migration Processes Consuming 100% CPU

2013-11-05 Thread Andrew Piziali
Running kernel 3.0.0-0300-generic this morning, the system hung like
before: kworker/0 and kworker/1 processes each consuming about 15%, Xorg
35%. The Xorg process would not respond to signals 1, 15 or 9. I
resorted to the magic key sequence R-E-I-S-U-B to reboot, running the
current stock kernel, 3.2.0-55-generic.

[Bug 1152884] Re: gns3 crashed with SIGSEGV in data()

2013-11-05 Thread Daniel Lintott
Hi Patsev,

I've uploaded a new version of the package to the GNS3 ppa that fixes
the segmentation fault.

You can find the PPA here: https://launchpad.net/~gns3/+archive/ppa

The package will also be uploaded to Debian, so will migrate into trusty
after that

2013-11-05 Thread John Stultz
Very similar issue here. After upgrading to 13.10, Evince and gedit
don't respond to mouse-wheel scrolling. Firefox/thunderbird/tomboy/other
apps work fine w/ mouse-wheel scrolling. Makes it *very* difficult to
use these apps.

[Bug 1184262] Re: [logind] times out too early, stuck in PrepareForSleep, causing network and other services to not resume

2013-11-05 Thread Shaw Terwilliger
In my previous comment I said that Martin's package didn't fix my issue,
but two days after I said that, the suspend-repeat loop seems to have
gone away. Sometimes my wifi turns on automatically on resume,
sometimes it doesn't.

Overall, it's a much better experience, but there's still some work to
do. Thanks, Martin!

[Bug 1228360] Re: No clock in menu bar and can't edit Clock settings

2013-11-05 Thread Kervin
Found the issue. I built a few libraries from source earlier in
/usr/local/lib . indicator-datetime-service found those libraries before
the system libraries in /usr/lib for some reason. It shouldn't have done
that.

One of those libraries pulled in the old libical.so.0 dependency which
was no longer available. When I deleted all the GNOME/Evolution related
libraries in /usr/local/lib I could start indicator-datetime-service
again and my clock shown up.

Why would indicator-datetime-service load libraries from /usr/local/lib
before /usr/local if they have the same library versions? Isn't that a
bug?

[Bug 1248270] [NEW] Please set CONFIG_EXT[23]=n

2013-11-05 Thread Phillip Susi
Public bug reported:

When the old code is disabled the ext4 driver takes over and does a
better job and gives a smaller kernel. Specifically the ext4 driver
does a better job of resisting fragmentation since it uses delayed
allocation, and supports online resize, whereas the ext2 driver does
not.
