[Bug 1161283] Re: Problems reported with .desktop files for sonic-visualiser

2013-11-10 Thread krnkris
In this case the solution was:

First step:

remove those 2 sonic-visualiser files from app-install-data, they don't
belong there.

Second step:

revised the authorisation of the user's /home directory:

sudo chown -R user:user /home/user

It solved all my problems!

Thank you!

[Bug 1249814] [NEW] Mouse scroll-wheel doesn't work when window doesn't have focus

2013-11-10 Thread Francesco Tarantini
Public bug reported:

When two windows are put side by side, working on one (thus clicking it) brings
focus away from the other, and the other way around. Still, hovering the cursor
on the inactive window without giving it focus can make that window scroll.
In Ubuntu 13.10 this doesn't work on Evince windows when I use my mouse middle
button (scroll-wheel) to scroll, while my touchpad side-scrolling function
does. Both used to work on Evince in 13.04.
Please note that I don't have the mouse hover focus function enabled (found in
Unity Tweak Tool) so I can only give focus by click.

[Bug 685096] Re: USB Passthrough not working for Windows 7 guest

2013-11-10 Thread debfreak
I have the same problem. I tried it with qemu 1.4 and the last 1.6.0-dfsg-2 on
a debian testing system. Win 7 says always This device cannot start. (Code
10). I tried a lot of usb sticks but always the same...
I hope there will be sometime a solution for this :( I wait over a year in the
hope that this will work.

[Bug 1248116] Re: PulseAudio switch rapidly port making the sound horrible

2013-11-10 Thread David Henningsson
 It's an integrated audio device.

This motherboard has a front panel HDA connector, which is what I'm
talking about here.

If you left this connector unconnected, try disabling it in BIOS. If you
connected it to the chassis, check the connection.

[Bug 1247923] Re: Missing SMS from organisations

2013-11-10 Thread Sam Bull
** Description changed:

My university sends me text messages when a lecture is cancelled.
My mobile provider sends me a text message with roaming charges when
connecting in a foreign country (which I believe is actually required by law).

I have not received any of these text messages since using Ubuntu Touch
in February. On a positive note, I don't receive the annoying marketing
messages from my mobile provider either. ;)

- At a guess, it's not receiving/displaying SMS from organisations that
- are not from a normal phone number.
+ Using stable saucy build at the moment.

- Using stable saucy build at the moment.
+ Update:
+ If a number is blocked, then on the caller's end the phone is ringing, but on
Ubuntu nothing happens to indicate there is an incoming call. Not sure if this
is the same issue or a separate bug.

[Bug 1227569] Re: individual characters frequently corrupted

2013-11-10 Thread Lonnie Lee Best
Now that someone has tested Ubuntu 13.10 with the same kernel that was
used in Ubuntu 13.04, and he confirmed that this bug persists in both
UXA and SNA modes (in 13.10), it appears (so far) that it is not the new
kernel's fault.

So, given that this bug didn't exist in Ubuntu 13.04 and now exist with
multiple kernels in 13.10, have we yet reported this to the correct
package-project?

If we can get this bug in front of the right person, the fix will likely
be quick and easy.

[Bug 1249822] [NEW] Logrotate doesn't run hourly in Ubuntu 13.04

2013-11-10 Thread Kasper Grubbe
Public bug reported:

As per
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/logrotate/+question/238977
I am now creating a bug:

I am currently experiencing some issues with logrotate, and running them
hourly. After some investigation I found the following:

/etc/crontab:
# m h dom mon dow user command
17 * * * * root cd / run-parts --report /etc/cron.hourly
25 6 * * * root test -x /usr/sbin/anacron || ( cd /  run-parts --report
/etc/cron.daily )
47 6 * * 7 root test -x /usr/sbin/anacron || ( cd /  run-parts --report
/etc/cron.weekly )
52 6 1 * * root test -x /usr/sbin/anacron || ( cd /  run-parts --report
/etc/cron.monthly )

ls /etc/cron.daily/
logrotate

ls /etc/cron.hourly/
# empty

I think that means the following logrotate will not work:

ls /etc/logrotate.d/nginx
/var/log/nginx/*.log {
  hourly
  # (...)
}

root@wilmut:~# lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 13.04
Release:13.04

root@wilmut:~# apt-cache policy logrotate
logrotate:
  Installed: 3.8.3-3ubuntu2
  Candidate: 3.8.3-3ubuntu2
  Version table:
 *** 3.8.3-3ubuntu2 0
500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ raring/main amd64 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

Is there a reason why logrotate is not set to run hourly in Ubuntu?

Re: [Bug 878919] Re: regular kernel panic on Ubuntu 11.10

2013-11-10 Thread pnael
Hello. I guess this ticket should be closed now. I used the workaround for
some time and now with 13.10 13.04 I had no issue anymore.

pnael, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If
so, could you please test for this with the latest development release
of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com
 /daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications-Accessories-Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

 apport-collect -p linux replace-with-bug-number

Also, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available (not the
daily folder, but the one all the way at the bottom) following
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional
upstream developers to examine the issue. Once you've tested the upstream
kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If
this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags:
 kernel-fixed-upstream
 kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For
 example:
 kernel-fixed-upstream-v3.12

This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon
next to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. As
 well, please remove the tag:
 needs-upstream-testing

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following
 tags:
 kernel-bug-exists-upstream
 kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

As well, please remove the tag:
 needs-upstream-testing

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's
Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. Thank you for your
 understanding.

[Bug 1244694] Re: Creating snapshot fails due to nonexistent temporary directory

2013-11-10 Thread Dirk Grunwald
Daniel Speichert (dasp) - were you using a ceph/RBD backend?

Were you trying to snapshot a QCOW image? Try it with a RAW.
Openstack has issues snapping QCOW (I think there's a cinder bug filed on this).

I can create a snapshow of RAW images and create a volume from that snapshot.
I can not, however, boot directly from the snap-shotted image.

[Bug 1249825] [NEW] Cannot type into Unity Dash

2013-11-10 Thread Ryan Baxter
Public bug reported:

I am running Ubuntu 13.10 with onboard version 0.99.0-0ubuntu1.

When attempting to type into the Unity Dash (search bar) the dash closes
whenever a key is pressed.

This seems to be a regression of 915250.

It is not a major issue to me currently as I have found two workarounds that
seem to resolve the issue for now:
1. Undock Onboard and set Force to top.
2. Maximize Unity Dash window.

** Affects: onboard (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

** Tags: regression-release

[Bug 1249828] [NEW] runcmd does not run if cloud-config contains apt directives

2013-11-10 Thread Mikhail Garber
Public bug reported:

using AWS image ubuntu-raring-13.04-i386-server-20130615 (ami-05831335)

using user-data script containing #cloud-config

#cloud-config
apt_update: true
apt_upgrade: true
packages:
 - my packages
runcmd:
my commands
output: {all: '| tee -a /var/log/cloud-init-output.log'}

I had this configuration running for several months without any
problems.

Now, the commands under runcmd do not run.
There is nothing in the logs after package installation.

narrowed down problem to this:
if apt statements are removed, problem is fixed, scripts run again. So seems
that package upgrade messes up execution of the scripts.

[Bug 1249827] [NEW] [SVD1121C5EB, Realtek ALC275, Speaker, Internal] Playback problem internal speaker. Headphone output fine.

2013-11-10 Thread Aaron Fleming
Public bug reported:

Have checked with alsamixer to ensure all channels have volume, and 'auto mute'
is disabled.
Headphone output works fine. Speaker output does not.
Tried alsa force-reload then rebooted, still not sound.
After this, the two buttons to test audio in Audio settings don't activate.
(Before alsa force-reload they both looked like they were trying to play audio,
now no).

Only have one output device listed, named built-in audio

[Bug 1249829] [NEW] Suspend stated prevented after playback finished

2013-11-10 Thread MikkoV
Public bug reported:

Seems that if you just launch vlc (and leave the active window open),
system will auto-suspend fine. But if you play something, and after
playback of the last item in the playlist finishes, computer wont auto-
suspend. You need to close vlc before auto-suspend works again.

Sponsored for Artur Rona (ari-tczew)

novnc (1:0.4+dfsg+1+20131010+gitf68af8af3d-1) unstable; urgency=low

  * New upstream release (well, a more recent commit since upstream isn't
doing much tagged release...).
  * Kill the wrong patch that landed in the master-dfsg branch somehow, and
broke novnc (Closes #718889).

I have the same problem with Evince in 13.10. I also noticed that this

[Bug 1249705] Re: HDMI output not available in 13.10

2013-11-10 Thread GeeMac
Thank you Ramond for the follow up on this matter.

I was not sure if that is the steps you wanted me to try per the post here and
email.
I looked for both conf files. hdmi-output-0.conf was not in my system and
iec958-stereo-output.conf was an empty .conf file.
I added the missing hdmi and edited the empty iec958 with the contents
and rebooted the system and there was still no HDMI out.
After testing I removed the added missing file, hdmi and commented out the
two lines at the bottom of ie958
As for hdmi-output-0.conf, there are three simular files numbered 1, 2, and 3
but no starting file 0.

[Bug 1248745] Re: chromedriver needs to be upgraded to v2 to work with current chromium-browser builds.

2013-11-10 Thread Joe Millenbach
I don't have it in front of me (at home...and this is on a work
computer), but from what I remember the original chromedriver had
version numbers that looked like the chromium build. With the current
Ubuntu binary I saw v30... which roughly matches the current Chromium
build version number on the same machine.

Current x86 chromedriver2 builds have a version like 2.6. I downloaded
my x86 files from http://chromedriver.storage.googleapis.com/index.html
- found from http://chromedriver.googlecode.com , from
https://code.google.com/p/selenium/downloads/list . There was a fork or
new code base a few months back.

This is separate from the Selenium version.
